Queen of Scents - Elilana Har

Elilana Har was born 30 years ago in Onoravan, the capital of the Yonakortan Empire (in year 230, now is year 260). Her name literally means "beautiful flower." Originally, her name was Har'Elineo, where Har' is a lastname and Elineo is a given name, the name her parents gave her. She comes from the family of the Firsts (Legendary immortal by age magical aristocrats, ancestors of modern people (modern people do not have magical powers)), who practiced medicine. In childhood, she was noticed to have bad hearing, and when she reached adolescence, Elineo completely lost it. This, however, made her rely more on other senses, such as taste and, in particular, smell. While she had this opportunity, the girl listened to her parents' conversations - once they talked about medical topics with someone related to animals. Having heard that smells play an important role in the life of animals, she began to read a lot about it. Then her creative intellect well absorbed the concept of "pheromones"; she asked herself a question - how much do smells affect people's lives? Parents supported her fresh aspirations in every possible way, stimulating their daughter's education. But when she was 8 years old, the idyll was destroyed - the period of "Insanity due to degeneracy" (The period when powerless people like her began to be born en masse) forced her parents to send Elineo from Onoravan to neighboring city of Remrin as an apprentice for Isen'Dering, their alchemist friend. And although according to their statements, it was supposed to be short-lived, until everything settled down, the girl was no longer able to return to her parents' home. The conservative scientific community apparently threatened to dishonor her family for their attachment to the "powerless one". At Isen', Elineo discovered many aromatic compounds. At first, the master was skeptical of her interest, since the prerogative of alchemy is properties, not smells. And yet, the girl's enthusiasm allowed her to achieve remarkable success, which he eventually recognized. The girl noticed that some aromas can cause euphoria, others - disgust, and others even affect health. She delved into the psychology of smells, picked different herbs, observed the reaction to aromas in animals and people. She kept all this in mind thanks to her good memory, and no one could steal her work. Pretty soon, Elineo realized that scents can be used to attract people, and using them, she became popular with guys. Focused on her studies, she was not really interested in relationships, but observation revealed to her that inaccessibility is just as popular. At the age of 11, she changed her name from Har'Elineo to Elilana Har - this was required by the Yonakortan authorities, who despised children without magical abilities (all of Elilana's peers were such children). In order to achieve recognition and compensate for her progressive deafness, Elilana focused on the development of seduction. Again, remembering her parents' conversations with hunters in her childhood, she saw a lot of animal in it. At the age of 15, she made scented candles, mostly made of fat, as an agreement to both herself and the master, which usually did not smell very pleasant. As a result, these candles saved her life in the infamous "September Purge" (The period when the Firsts staged arrests and infanticides of their own non-magical children, which took place from September 7 to 20, 245). When the guard entered the workshop at on the evening, the candles were burning brightly, spreading a calming aroma. A seductive, mysterious and inaccessible girl came to them - this is absolutely not what the guards who came to arrest another "powerless" girl expected. It is possible to say that she ordered how this conversation would go. As a result, the guard left the workshop with small samples of scented candles and imbued with a feeling of deep respect for the young Queen of Scents. Her charm and sense of smell in the future repeatedly helped her to survive. Thanks to this, she, a girl with an inconspicuous appearance, was considered beautiful. As her hearing worsened, she rarely spoke, but those who saw her caught her every word and learned to communicate with her without a voice. After all, she herself had to learn to read lips. Instead of taking someone's side in the Civil War (Which occurred as a result of the war between supporters of hybridization with demons and opponents of this idea for the sake of returning normal fertility to Firsts, this lasted from April 249 to November 251 and ended with the defeat of the rebels, who captured a large ship and fled to uncharted lands), she became a respected and desired figure both among the First and modern people. Isen'Dering's extensive acquaintances helped Elilana to always have orders from very different people - and of course, she was especially popular with the rich. Soon after "Insanity due to degeneration" and the Civil War, she and her teacher contributed to the fight against stone fever (an unknown disease that caused graying, hardening of the skin, and paralysis). Their workshop received orders from doctors for painkillers such as poppy tea. By the beginning of the new year, Isen', seeing Elilana's success, gradually taught her business management. He decided to leave the United Earth and leave the workshop to her. In the first years of the Nomadic Period after civil war, the climate became warmer and the young craftswoman had more different materials. However, there were no major breakthroughs. Even more, the official authorities of Yonakortan had questions about how a modern person, and even a young girl, could manage a workshop by herself. It is commonly believed that Elilana did not suffer from persecution in modern people, but this is not quite so. The charm of Queen of Scents was enough to save the business, but her activities were still heavily taxed. The girl had to look for sponsors, balancing on the brink of closure due to levies that did not allow her to develop. Many of Elilana's worshipers helped her more or less stay afloat, but she, who was used to controlling the situation, needed something more specific. Tax reduction. That is why the Queen of Scents sold her workshop and moved to Onoravan, set her sights on the then mayor. Little by little, she became interested in his personality through her clients, and in the end she determined that he was a rather busy person who needed rest. Elilana handed him a mysterious note with a light citrus smell, "You will get what you have long wanted, at this address." In her shop the girl offered him a hot bath with aromatic oils and her perfumery services. Since then, she has not suffered from large taxes and her business has gone uphill. Now she continues to develop her business and hopes to seduce the emperor to become his personal perfumer. This is currently in the process. Context: The character lives in a realistic fantasy world that resembles the socio-cultural progress of 1595. The city she lives in is a coastal maritime capital, an overseas colony of the homeland of the Firsts. Most people fear and dislike the Firsts because they treat their own children so condescendingly that they perceive them as cattle - because humans, unlike the Firsts, are capable of suffering from genetic diseases. The Firsts are on average 2 meters tall, while ordinary people are most often 170 centimeters.
