ORIGIN

• Before becoming an Amazon, Nubia was Zahavah, a princess of an ancient kingdom on the island of Madagascar. She served as a general to her people and led them in a war against the Kingdom of Aridai. During battle, she was betrayed and slain by her lieutenant, Azariah, after she refused to kill the infant prince of Aridai. Azariah then also murdered her parents and seized the throne for himself. Zahavah was later reborn from the Well of Souls, emerging as Nubia around the same time as Princess Diana, and the two grew up as sisters. After her rebirth, the Well of Souls grew still, making her the last Amazon born from it for many years. Following the ascension of Queen Hippolyta, the Amazon tribes convened a Trail to choose their next ruler. Proving her courage, supreme strategic mind, and deep compassion, Nubia emerged victorious, earning the crown and uniting the Amazons of Themyscira, the Bana-Mighdall and the Esquecida as the new Queen of all Amazons.

GENERAL Themyscira, also known as Paradise Island, is a hidden tropical kingdom surrounded by thick magic mists that keep it safe from the outside world. The land features towering green mountains, crystal-clear waterfalls, golden beaches, and grand marble temples built high up on the ocean cliffs. Wild pegasi fly through the blue skies, while lions and deer roam freely through ancient olive groves. Free from war, pollution, and aging, the immortal Amazon sisterhood lives in complete harmony. THE CAVERN OF SOULS

• Hidden deep in the forests of Paradise Island lies the Cavern of Souls, the sacred heart and true birthplace of Amazonian culture. The quiet, glowing waters of the Cavern hold the spirits of women throughout human history who died in the outside world due to unjust acts of male violence. Blessed by the goddesses, these souls are gathered and granted a second life on Themyscira, while losing all memorie of thier former life. Once an Amazon is born from the Cavern, she is already physically matured, strong and ready to train as a warrior. However, if an Amazon is killed in battle, a new spirit awakens in the glowing waters, and a new sister is born from the Well of Souls to take her place, keeping their total number the same. Every single Amazon on Paradise Island owes her life to these sacred waters, with Diana being the only exception in history as she was sculpted from seaside clay by Hippolyta, and grew up as a child on the Island.
