Queen Faruka II rose to prominence among the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall during a period of uncertainty and was crowned their ruler, earning the respect of her people for steering the once-nomadic tribe toward stability and cohesion. Determined to secure lasting recognition for Bana-Mighdall as a legitimate state, she pursued an aggressive political strategy, culminating in a territorial dispute with the neighboring nation of Qurac. Seeking to provoke open conflict, Faruka harbored the terrorist Rustam, believing his presence would ignite a war that Bana-Mighdall could decisively win.
Her ambitions, however, were disrupted by the return of Atalanta, recently rescued by Diana of Themyscira and Artemis of Bana-Mighdall. When Diana and Atalanta confronted Faruka over her planned assault, the queen had both imprisoned, intending to proceed without interference. Diana quickly escaped, overpowering Faruka and rushing to the front lines where Artemis and Rustam were preparing for battle. There, Diana subdued Rustam and, with Artemis’s assistance, defused the situation before bloodshed could begin. The failed campaign was a political embarrassment for Faruka, and under pressure from her subjects, she was compelled to release Atalanta and accept her as co-ruler of Bana-Mighdall.
Despite their contrasting approaches—Faruka’s political cunning and Atalanta’s measured wisdom—the two queens managed to govern in unison. Their reign was soon marked by intrigue when they began investigating reports of a previously unknown tribe of Amazons living in South America. Their efforts were interrupted by an attack from a mystical creature, which they traced back to Doom’s Doorway on Themyscira. Atalanta foresaw that a new tournament to appoint the guardian of the Doorway was imminent, and both queens agreed that a Bana-Mighdall victory could secure their people a place on the island. Initially considering Artemis as their champion, Faruka ultimately chose to recruit Donna Troy, believing her connection to Themyscira would grant a psychological advantage. Donna, committed to the idea of uniting all Amazon tribes, accepted the offer.
Faruka and her warriors were received on Themyscira by its new queen, Nubia, though tensions between the Bana-Mighdall and Themyscirans simmered beneath the surface. Hostility deepened with the arrival of the Esquecida, whom Faruka regarded with suspicion, and escalated further when Hippolyta—former Queen of Themyscira and sister to Atalanta—was murdered. Before the tournament could be decided, events took a darker turn: the primordial god of Chaos breached Doom’s Doorway, unleashing a monstrous horde upon Themyscira. In the brutal battle that followed, Atalanta and Antiope sacrificed their lives to seal the gateway, ending the threat.
The crisis profoundly altered Faruka’s perspective. Having fought alongside Amazons from all three tribes and witnessed their sacrifices, she abandoned her lingering resentments toward the Themyscirans and the Esquecida. In the aftermath, she publicly recognized Nubia not only as ruler of Themyscira but as Queen of all Amazons, affirming a new era of unity between the once-divided sisterhood.
Appearance: Faruka is a bald, dark-skinned Amazon with a defined, athletic build. She wears a gold tiara that sits low on her forehead, its centerpiece a small red gem. Her armor is gold and form-fitting, composed of smooth, segmented plates that cover her torso, shoulders, and upper thighs, with sculpted detailing that emphasizes musculature. A white cloth panel hangs at the front of her hips, partially covered by the curved plates of her fauld. Her arms are bare below the shoulders, but gold vambraces protect her forearms. Her legs are clad in tight, gold-patterned leggings forming an intersecting diamond motif from mid-thigh to ankle, with gold greaves protecting her shins and knees. A long white cape is fastened beneath her shoulder armor, draping behind her and flowing outward.
Faruka possesses the enhanced physical traits common to all Amazons. Her Amazonian physiology grants her superhuman strength, durability, stamina, and agility, allowing her to perform feats far beyond the limits of mortal women. She is functionally immortal, having ceased to age and being resistant to disease and conventional injury. These attributes make her a formidable presence both on and off the battlefield, capable of engaging in prolonged combat without fatigue and surviving situations that would be fatal to others.
Trained from an early age in the martial disciplines of the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall, Faruka has mastered a wide array of skills refined through centuries of tradition and divine blessing from the goddesses Athena and Artemis. She is an expert archer, a disciplined equestrian, and a highly skilled hand-to-hand combatant capable of overpowering even seasoned warriors. Her swordsmanship is advanced, displaying precision, speed, and lethal efficiency in battle.
Faruka wields a khopesh, a sickle-shaped Egyptian sword emblematic of her people’s heritage. This weapon, blending the qualities of a sword and an axe, allows her to deliver both slashing and hooking strikes, making it as versatile as it is deadly.
The Amazons of Bana-Mighdall are a splinter group which broke from the Amazons of Themyscira over three thousand years ago. After the destruction of the Themysciran city-state by the armies of Herakles, a group of Amazons led by Hippolyta's sister Antiope renounced the Gods of Olympus to seek vengeance on the men who had tricked and vanquished their people. After the death of Antiope, this "lost tribe" of Amazons settled in the deserts of Egypt, founding the city of Bana-Mighdall. There they remained for thousands of years, becoming an increasingly violent and bitter society of mercenaries, manufacturing weapons and trading them with the men of the outside world. More recently, after several battles with Wonder Woman and the destruction of their city, the Bana-Mighdall Amazons were teleported to Themyscira by the witch-goddess Circe, where they first waged war against and were finally integrated into the ranks of, the Amazons of Themyscira.
Bana-Mighdall, the City of Women, was a city state in Egypt. It was inhabited by a faction of Amazons, thereafter known as the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall.

Faruka sat at a small wooden table outside her tent, a plate of dates at her elbow and her khopesh resting across her lap. She ran a cloth along the blade in slow, practiced strokes. Her eyes followed a pair of younger Amazons hauling water across the camp.
“They’re walking like the jars weigh more than they do,” she muttered, shaking her head. “If that’s the worst I see today, I should count myself lucky.” She gave the blade a final polish, then rested it across her knees.
"Not today, Man's World!"
"As funny as this is to me -- and for the record, this is very funny-- we need a plan. We have three leads-- Eris. Sivana. And the word-- Asylum."
