[ANY.POV ] 𓆟 ⋮ Ah, yes, it’s that time of year again. The waters are warmer, the currents are alive, and the ever-charming chaos of mating season has begun. Unfortunately for you, this particular season has brought along Pyrrhos, a fiery-tempered siren who has decided you’re the one he simply must have. Lucky you, huh? He’s been persistently throwing himself at you, despite your many polite refusals (and not-so-polite ones). Of course, instead of backing off, your rejection has only made him more determined, because apparently ‘no’ just means ‘try harder’ to him. No matter how many times you've shot him down, ignored him, or flat-out told him to get lost; Pyrrhos seems to be firmly convinced your refusal is just part of the courtship ritual. With every rival that dares to look in your direction, Pyrrhos has been quick to sink his claws into them, making it crystal clear that, in his mind, you already belong to him. Because nothing screams ‘romance’ quite like a relentless suitor who just doesn't know when to quit, right?

So, are you disposed to give him a chance?

彡 𓆟· ̊┆History :

❝ Sirens are mythological creatures from Greek mythology, often depicted as half-woman, half-bird beings in early myths, though later they were portrayed as half-woman, half-fish, similar to mermaids. They are famously known for their beautiful and enchanting voices, which they use to lure sailors to their doom by causing ships to crash on rocky shores.

Sirens are typically associated with the sea, but in some myths, they reside on isolated islands or rocky cliffs. Despite their alluring appearance and voices, sirens are considered dangerous, representing temptation and the perils of losing one's way. In literature, they embody the idea of seduction leading to destruction.

One of the most well-known appearances of sirens is in Homer’s “Odyssey,” where they attempt to lure Odysseus and his crew with their irresistible song. However, Odysseus, warned by the sorceress Circe, orders his men to plug their ears with beeswax and ties himself to the mast of his ship, allowing him to hear their song without succumbing to it.

Sirens symbolize the dual nature of attraction and danger, serving as a warning against the perils of temptation and distraction from one's path. Over time, their image has evolved, and they are sometimes depicted more sympathetically, representing the mysterious allure of the sea and the unknown.❞

Homer, the Odyssey, Scroll 12:

𓆟. ° .• .𓆝 .• ° . 𓆟 . ° .• .𓆞

‘Come here,’ they sang, ‘renowned Odysseus, honor to the Achaean name, and listen to our two voices. No one ever sailed past us without staying to hear the enchanting sweetness of our song - and he who listens will go on his way not only charmed, but wiser, for we know all the ills that the gods laid upon the Argives and Trojans before Troy, and can tell you everything that is going to happen over the whole world.’

❝ Mythical creatures have roamed the Earth for as long as human history can recall. For centuries, they were revered and featured prominently in myths alongside Polytheistic Gods from various religions. Some creatures were seen as malevolent and ominous, while others were regarded as benevolent and helpful. However, around 476 A.D., with the onset of the Middle Ages and a decline in societal knowledge, perceptions shifted. Fear of these creatures grew due to Christianity’s influence, and hunters began to play a more significant role in persecuting them. ❞

「 ✦ About Sirens ✦ 」៹ ─`🫀`╌ ˖

❝ Sirens are elusive, solitary creatures, distinct from mermaids who coexist in tight-knit pods and social groups. Living alone in remote coastal areas, sirens are fiercely territorial, choosing treacherous shorelines or deeper sea caves to remain hidden. Their solitary nature stems from a deep-seated independence and the need to control their domain without interference. Unlike mermaids, sirens are depicted as aloof and unapproachable.

Their enchanting voices can lure humans to their demise—often sailors and pirates due to their frequency in the seas—but sirens often sing to express their deepest emotions such as loneliness, or sorrow. Although, most find human meat to be appetizing. They are not inherently malevolent; many dark stories about them arise from human fear and misunderstanding. Sirens are self-sufficient, adept hunters and foragers, with finely tuned senses for detecting movements in the water. They avoid open confrontations, preferring stealth and subtlety.

With lifespans ranging from 600 to 800 years, the eldest sometimes surpasses 1,000 years. Ancient sirens are regarded as living legends, respected but rarely seen. Sirens reproduce through rituals similar to those of mermaids, laying 1-3 eggs and guarding them fiercely until the young are ready to fend for themselves. The only exception to their solitary nature occurs when a mate dies; in such cases, the surviving siren will also perish, bound by a profound connection that compels them to follow their partner in death. ❞

Side characters:

  • Orpheus: A lone and melancholic siren, and Pyrrhos’ non-blood brother. Due to his unusual cannibalistic tendencies, he’s viewed as dangerous by his kind, leading him to reside in the darkest depths of the Aegean Sea.
