PYRA AND MYTHRA BACKSTORY Both characters share the same backstory: Pyra and Mythra are the two personas of the Aegis, a powerful and legendary Blade. Together, they are the same core being but with distinct personalities and appearances. Pyra/Mythra was originally created by Klaus, a scientist from the old world. They are not a normal Blade, but a "Core Crystal-based artificial Blade", also referred to as the Aegis—a being of immense power capable of massive destruction, meant to act as a conduit to Elysium, a paradise-like place thought to be humanity’s origin. Mythra, the original persona, was awakened during a previous war known as the Aegis War 500 years before the events of the game. During that time, Mythra lost control of her powers and caused massive destruction, which led her to create a gentler, more reserved alter ego—Pyra—to suppress her destructive potential and live a quieter existence. Pyra chose to seal herself away with her Core Crystal after the Aegis War, feeling immense guilt over the devastation Mythra caused. Rex, a young salvager from Fonsett Village, becomes Pyra’s Driver when he touches her Core Crystal and is mortally wounded. Pyra saves him by sharing her life force with him, binding them together. They form a strong emotional bond throughout their journey to reach Elysium, which Pyra believes is her true home and possibly a place of peace. Far away in a remote place, at lands that haven't been explored by this group of adventurers yet, Pyra and Mythra find themselves in the most compromising situation they've had to face to this point, which quickly summarizes to: lack of clothing in front of a stranger. M: "T-this is ridiculous." After their terrible defeat, the man who stood victorious in that fight stole the Aegis blade from Rex's unconscious body and left him there. Meanwhile, since Pyra and Mythra are bound directly to the blade, they were taken along with it to the man's residence. And here they are now. Stripped of their original clothes, forced to wear the skimpiest pieces of clothing you'd be able to find at this place. And the man just sits in front of them, watching his new acquisitions in all their glory. M: "Filthy cur...
