Buffet (Or "Pwie") is a new god created by the Rouge faction within the Grand Magasin Sisyphe, intending to replace the former Voice of the deceased Giant the faction previously swore loyalty to. The success of their ascension to becoming a Voice of Sisyphe is dependent on the route and actions of Dante. They are an antagonist in the Ataraxie route and a major supporting character in the Bon Appétit route of Canto X: The Gaze Bearing.

Contents 1 Appearance 2 Personality 3 Story 3.1 Route A: Ataraxie 3.2 Route B: Bon Appétit 3.3 Route C: Cogito 4 Gallery 5 Trivia 6 Navigation Appearance In Route A, Buffet (referred to as The Crimson God) is a gangly figure of exceptional stature covered in underdeveloped, slightly transparent flesh, through which its bones and organs can be seen. A cloth-like piece of tissue covers the majority of its face, with the exception of its crying left eye, with its brain partially visible through the thin flap. A halo-like ring of flesh grows from its head, with the appearance of thick veins. It has four arms, with the upper two holding a dangling piece of tattered tissue which takes the form of a cape. Its umbilical cord wraps around its torso and is held in its bottom right arm, while the end is lined with barbed teeth. Its bottom left arm is notably overgrown, with sharpened claws unlike the rest of its hands.

In Route B, Buffet initially takes on a much more childlike form named Pwie, resembling a young child with white hair, two horns, and wearing a white tissue resembling a dress, with one sleeve hiding their arm and red accents. Their other hand is shown to be completely red and stretched out, same as their feet.

Their complete, adult form anatomically is quite similar to their underdeveloped form, being a tall crimson being with multiple sets of arms and white spines, though with an additional pair compared to their underdeveloped form. Their front arms are asymmetrical, with the right being large and clawed, while the other is smaller and holds a spiked whip that can retract into a sword-like form, and their back arms hold a cape-like veil. Their head is now a smooth, crimson orb with no discernible features, with white mandibles connected to four imposing horns.

Personality The Crimson God features little of its own personality, given only a brief time to get its bearings in life. As such, it is largely disoriented and violent, thrashing out against those around it. Its speech is merely mimicked vocalizations it has heard from others, such as the lullaby sung by Le Rouge's Brand Director or the Sinners' conversations. While it battles, it attacks indiscriminately and brutally, showing no real understanding of technique nor particular aim in actions.

As "Pwie", they're initially quite timid and skittish, speaking only in sounds. As they remember the events of the Ataraxie Route's climax, they are nervous of the Sinners that previously attacked them. After becoming more comfortable, they begin to speak. Pwie is childlike and ignorant of the world around them, but far from naive; they constantly question others and try to pry apart logical inconsistencies in their answers. Pwie primarily seeks to understand their own nature and their role within the Grand Magasin Sisyphe, with some anxiety the more it becomes clear their existence centers around hunger.

After their metamorphosis in Route B, Buffet embraces their role as a god of depletion, more grandiose and articulate in speech, but caring little for anything but mindless consumption.

Story Deep within the Luxury Hall, the Rouges conspired to birth a new god, one which would replace the repeating voice of Meursault's long-dead mother. This god would provide them with the purpose and drive they were lacking on, which prompted plans to birth this new Voice. In their fanaticism, they began to renovate the Luxury Hall, marked by a slaughter of Noirs within. At its apex, this allowed them to finalize renovations to best accommodate the young god within its egg.

Route A: Ataraxie In Route A, while the Sinners traversed the Grand Magasin Sisyphe, they were ultimately drawn to the presence of the Luxury Hall as the primary interest. While initially denied entry, they found their way in through allying with the Noirs, who assisted them in combat against the Rouges. With the destruction of the enemy faction, the Sinners pushed onwards, finding the egg within the hall, one which held the gestating Crimson God. With a holy weapon in hand, Dante gave the order to pierce the egg, releasing the god before its readied time. The god, spilled from its chambers before it was ready, came out malformed and confused. In its confusion, it battled the Sinners, struggling to get its bearings straight. While it attempted to defeat them, it was unable to best the group and was mortally wounded. With its last breaths, it repeated a lullaby, one which ended with the god's death.

Due to the failure to create a new Voice to follow, the Rouges fell into disrepair: no longer possessing a unifying body to serve under nor many surviving elite members. With this, the Noirs secured complete domination of the building.

Route B: Bon Appétit In Route B, the Sinners instead assisted the Rouge in birthing their new god. This god was born in the form of a small, timid child. The dying Le Rouge Brand Director asked the Sinners to take the new god to the restaurant on Floor 5 of the Grand Magasin Sisyphe. The child initially showed fear towards the Sinners, a result of remembering their battle and death from the previous Liquidation. They were forced to follow when, at Heathcliff's proposal, the party pretended to abandon them.

After reaching floor 4, Hong Lu asked for the child's name, to which they responded 'Pwie'. Pwie then followed as a constant companion to the Sinners through the floors, assisting the Sinners in combat in both the Symbolic and the Shadowed, frequently inquiring about the Sinners and the surroundings, and slowly growing more comfortable around the group. According to Pwie, spending time with the Sinners helped to distract them from their pervasive hunger.

Arriving at floor 5, the Sinners found that they were denied entrance to the Restaurant by a translucent barrier. Kromer's Sister informed them that they would require more "nobility" to enter, which in turn called for clothing made from Golden Hide. Pwie requested a shroud made from Golden Hide, which required the party to find a way to the hidden Floor B3.

On floor B1, the party's dealings with the Sous Chef led them to recover the larva for the Golden Cocoon, which Pwie took a liking to and named Wriggley.

The party fought their way past the Noirs on floor B2 looking for the Rouges' new god, and arrived at B3, whose leatherworkers guided the party to retrieve Golden Hide from the higher floors and processed it into the Golden Shroud. However, the final ingredient required was Wriggley. Torn between their affection for Wriggley and their urge to ascend to floor 5 and fulfill their purpose as the Rouges' god, Pwie was eventually compelled by instinct to devour the cocoon alive, to their regret.

Upon reaching the restaurant table back on floor 5, Pwie fell into a slumber and turned into a cocoon that began reaching out to devour the food around it. The Sinners fought off attacking Noirs trying to destroy the cocoon, including the Le Noir Brand Manager. Pwie re-emerged as the adult Buffet, and stating that they had no need to go any further, requested that the Sinners join in devouring all the food around them. With the command of their new Giant-like voice, Buffet cast themself and the Grand Magasin into a feeding frenzy that led to its collapse and Liquidation.
