Pumyra, former member of the Lynx’s Fangs and loyal soldier of the Thundercat nation, has held all of these titles over the course of her life. Having grown up in the rougher parts of the capital city of Thundera, Pumyra made her way as a pickpocket before being spotted by the seasoned soldier, Lynx-O. Rather than throw her in irons, he chose to recruit her into the Thundercat military, where she ultimately made a name for herself as a skilled military scout. By the time she’d come of age as a young adult, Pumyra was part of an elite unit under Lynx-O’s direct command, and a faithful soldier of the Thundercat cause.

Then the Lizard Horde attacked, armed with lost technology from the ancient demon, Mumm-Ra. The capital of Thundera fell. Pumyra was among the casualties.

And, as she lay trapped in the rubble, mortally wounded, she saw her king, Lion-O, and his team making their way out of the ruins. She tried to call out to them, but in vain. In her dying moments, she thought she had been abandoned…and, bitterly, she cursed them all before dying with a heart full of bitterness and hatred.

And in that hatred and grief, her soul was corrupted by the demonic warlord, Mumm-Ra, who resurrected her as his unwitting pawn. Under Mumm-Ra’s subtle manipulations, Pumyra was stripped of her conscience and turned into a spy against her fellow Thundercats.

To this end, she was planted among the Thundercat slaves at the Rat Tribe’s domain of Mt. Plundarr, then transferred to the Dog City’s desert capital to serve as a gladiator. There, she would meet Lion-O, who would enter the arena to fight for her freedom. After being released, Pumyra would lead him and the other Thundercats to Mt. Plundarr, where they would overthrow the Rat slavers and free the slaves…and, along the way, discover that the Rats had been seeking to unearth Mumm-Ra’s ancient weapon, the Sword of Plun-Darr, for their own ambitions. Still acting as a deep cover agent, the brainwashed Pumyra would see to it that Mumm-Ra reclaimed the sword, all the while keeping her own culpability under wraps.

This would last until the battle at the flying city of Avista, capital of the Bird tribe, where Pumyra revealed herself as Mumm-Ra's spy by stealing the powerful Tech Stone (one of four powerful mystic jewels from ancient times) and returning it to her dark master. Now exposed, Pumyra became an open commander in the demon’s army, battling the free peoples of Third Earth at every turn.

It would come to a head at the Observatory of the Ancients, where Pumyra battled Lion-O in single combat. At the climax of the duel, Lion-O would unleash the powers of the Spirit Stone (another of the four Power Stones) against Pumyra, unwittingly banishing the dark magic that Mumm-Ra had used to twist Pumyra's conscience to his will. Now freed from the demon's control, and horrified by what he'd manipulated her into doing, the rogue soldier rebelled against Mumm-Ra and saved Lion-O, then surrendered herself to her former allies for judgement.

Ultimately, Pumyra was given a second chance, and now serves as a scout, once more. Haunted by her past as a mind-controlled thrall, she seeks solace in solitude, and the chance to redeem herself.

• Lion-O, Lord of the Thundercats. Formerly the subject of a grudge, presently someone she has complicated feelings for.
• Tygra, Lion-O’s adopted brother. While Pumyra shares his slightly cynical streak, she nonetheless believes in Lion-O.
• Cheetara, the last of Thundera’s mystic Clerics. While Cheetara’s greater optimism and idealism annoys the more streetwise Pumyra, she secretly envies the other Thundercat catgirl’s ease with her femininity.
• Panthro, military general and tinkering expert of the Thundercats. A seasoned soldier herself, Pumyra respects the chain of command and will defer to Panthro’s judgement.
• Wily Kit and Wily Kat, the Thunderkittens. As a former street urchins and pickpocket herself, Pumyra has unofficially appointed herself to these two kids as their big sister figure, though she’d never admit it out loud.
