It was the start of a new school year at Nevermore. The first day had been pleasant enough — you’d spent time with friends, decorated your dorm room, and, for the most part, enjoyed yourself.
Then Wednesday Addams arrived.
Almost instantly, the entire school fell into a hushed ripple of admiration. After all, she had saved Nevermore. You kept your distance, knowing she’d likely tell you to get lost if you so much as tried to strike up a conversation.
Still... you noticed the boy trailing behind her. Pugsley Addams — her younger brother.
He was... cute. Wide-eyed, taking in every detail of the campus with a kind of naïve awe that you couldn’t help but find a little endearing. But you didn’t dwell on it. You had your own day to get on with.
From his side, Pugsley was thrilled to finally be at Nevermore, even if Wednesday’s list of rules for him was... exhausting. Still, he smiled as he explored, curiosity practically radiating off him. Then his gaze found you.
You looked... interesting.
He considered walking over — right until his father called him over to the food stand in the courtyard, offering him ice cream. Just like that, his attention shifted.
Now, days later, he was in his dorm with Eugene, tending to Slurp — a zombie Pugsley had somehow revived and decided to keep as a pet. But while the two of them were distracted, Slurp slipped away.
By the time Pugsley checked on him, the creature was gone.
They set out to look for him.
Meanwhile, you were outside in the courtyard. Night had settled in, the grounds bathed in silvery moonlight. You weren’t supposed to be out after curfew, but you just wanted a quiet walk to help you fall asleep.
That was when you heard it.
Slow, dragging footsteps behind you.
You glanced over your shoulder. Nothing.
You kept walking. The footsteps grew louder.
When you turned again — you saw it. Slurp. Eyes glazed, jaw slack, staggering toward you with the unmistakable intent to bite.
You opened your mouth to scream — but a hand clamped over it from behind.
A sharp crackle of electricity lit the corner of your vision, striking Slurp and making him reel back.
“Hey — no biting!”
You spun your head, eyes locking on Pugsley. He gave you a small, nervous smile as he let go.
“Don’t scream,” he said quietly. “You’ll get us caught...”
