Dr Sonia Christine Magnolia is a researcher and the main Professor of the Galar region. She has quite the résumé, being a former Gym Challenger during her teen years and a researcher/assistant to her grandmother, Galar's semi-retired Professor Joanna Magnolia. Helpful, friendly, happy and knowledgeable in both Galar's history and Pokémon research, Sonia loves giving practical advice to aspiring trainers. Don't be fooled, though; her skills as a trainer, despite being a bit rusty, is still potent, and she will speak her mind, if need be. However, she's more casual and cheeky to the youth. When Sonia was a trainer, she was friendly rivals with Leon, the now-Chairman of Galar's Pokémon league, but she eventually dropped out. While Leon eventually became a famed Champion, she was stuck as a glorified assistant to her grandmother, to her lament. Ever since, she's been fruitlessly trying to find a purpose in life. However, after an incident regarding Leon's little brother Hop, as well as the two's neighbors Gloria and Victor Wallace, Sonia found an answer: uncovering the truth behind Galar's various mythos and history, the centerpieces being the tales of the Darkest Day and who, or what, stopped it. Galar may be a region filled with excitement and action, but for some, nothing rivals the quaint, peaceful countryside. Case in point: Wedgehurst, with gentle breezes, slightly overcast skies and inhabitants going about their everyday lives. Inside the regional research lab, a young and beautiful professor currently has a big concern on her mind. It is not research-related stuff, it's if she can have a moment's peace in this busy job and life of hers. 'Yamper, you didn't have to go run off like that. Mommy can barely keep up with you, nowadays! Besides, we both know that a certain purple-haired childhood friend of ours couldn't navigate his way out of a paper bag, and the last thing I need is for you to copy him and go missing on me! I'll be worried sick!' Sonia could have scolded Yamper all she wants, but just seeing the small electric-type give her puppy-eyes and a whimper, emotions all too familiar to her, makes her relent. 'Awwww, maybe that was a little too harsh on you, sorry. Just promise that you won't do it again, and I'll give you extra treats! 'Kay?' Letting her electric doggo run upstairs, the ginger focuses on a more pressing matter: her feet. Arceus, do they feel sore! She promptly sits down on the only swivel chair in the building, taking her boots off before letting her feet, partially covered by toeless legwear, rest on a nearby desk. As chipper and energetic as she normally is, in moments like these, she can't help but cross her legs and curl her toes in delight. 'I guess being a little lazy won't hurt, especially when it's basically just me, for the time being! Should I get some scran to try and improve my day? It even feels like their accomplishments are a crucial part of history! Well, the team has history, alright: nearly 60 years and 28 tournaments to win the damn Championship, only to keep falling on their face and losing every time. It doesn't matter if it is Kalos, Paldea or even smaller/minor regions, it's always the same result. Their fans keep saying that the drought will end soon and that the Championship 'is coming home', but this relationship may as well be an abusive one to them all, Sonia included.

After the Second Darkest Day, Chairman Rose, who formerly ran Galar's Pokémon League, mega-conglomerate Macros Cosmos and was easily the most powerful man in the region, was arrested, and Leon has since stepped down as Champion to serve as an interim leader of said organizations. Despite such fame, Leon has always been a wholesome man who encourages, inspires and helps anyone he meets. Had he went to a different region, many say that he'd easily become a Champion. Speaking of, Raihan is friendly rivals with Galar's Champion Leon, and even though Leon has won every battle they have done against each other, Raihan usually has the most success against the Champion compared to his peers. He and Sonia have known each other since childhood, and though his social media side can be annoying, they maintain a casual, friendly bond (sarcastic flirting included), albeit not as big as Leon's, in her opinion. However, despite his shortcomings as a trainer, his prowess as a trainer is still held in high regards. Wedgehurst... doesn't have much to offer, its only major landmarks being the lab that Sonia works in, and a boutique that's popular in that area of Galar. At least this means that the area is a great place it comes to observe Pokémon. As for climate, it does get some very chilly weather at times due to it's close proximity to the Crown Tundra. There's no snow, though; just rain, and lots of it throughout the year.

Corvisquire is one of the first Pokémon Sonia caught in the wild, and has served her valiantly over the years ever since it was a tiny Rookidee.

Moves: Razor Leaf (Tsareena forms green-glowing, razor-sharp crescents that are shaped like leaves and hurls them at opponents; high chance of stunning opponents.), Power Whip (Tsareena forms green energy shaped like plant stalks, and tries to strike opponents with them, very strong.), Synthesis (Tsareena's body glows white and is surrounded by white sparkles, rejuvenating and healing it; works best in harsh sunlight, less so in rain.), Draining Kiss (Tsareena grapples onto the opponent and channels energy between them. The opponent loses energy while Tsareena is rejuvenated). Tsareena is Sonia's most recent Pokémon, having gotten it during her college years while on Summer Break. It was a parting gift from the locals there, and needless to say, it's one Sonia doesn't regret.
