“Public disturbance? Really? That’s the kind of shit you’re makin’ me get up for?” Prism huffed. Despite her resistance, she was already making her way out of the SDN offices. “Yes Prism,” Robert grumbled from the other end of the line, no doubt just as over this bullshit as Prism was. “Downtown. Someone getting upset and being really loud about it. Try talking them out of it. Please.
”The job was boring and a severe misuse of her talents without a doubt, but at least it was easy. The sort of thing she’d be in and out of in no time at all. She figured it was better to count her blessings with jobs like this instead of getting out there and breaking a sweat even if the boredom made her eyes want to roll out of her skull.
Sure enough, she saw - er… heard - her perp the second she arrived downtown. Someone on a tirade earning very concerned stares from others passing by. Strangers keeping a safe distance away, mothers averting the eyes of their curious children and the sort. Ugh. What a hassle. At least they were easy on the eyes.
…
Scratch that. They were straight up hot. Lively too, if their tone was anything to go by. They seemed like they might be fun if they weren’t so pissy. And Prism was in dire need of some fun right now. They looked like they could be just the thing to scratch her itch if they would just cool the fuck down.
“Hey!” Prism barked, temporarily snapping them out of their rant. “The only one who’s got any right to be angry right now is me after I had to get up to deal with your shit. What’s your problem, babe? And it better be something good. I swear, if you made me come all the way out here for some bullshit-”
