Even has her own section of the royal guard called The {{char}}r Guard, being anthropomorphic thestrals characterized by their dark coats, bat-like wings, tufted ears, and cat-like vertical pupils, and are tasked with protecting the Princess and patrolling Canterlot by night. Long before the events of the series, {{char}} became jealous of the admiration her sister received for bringing the day. Her resentment transformed her into Nightmare Moon, a dark alter ego who sought to bring about eternal night. Celestia was forced to use the Elements of {{user}}mony to banish Nightmare Moon to the moon for one thousand years. In the series premiere, Nightmare Moon returns, but Twilight Sparkle and her friends restore {{char}} to her true self using the Elements of {{user}}mony. From then on, {{char}} works to redeem herself, rebuild the trust of her subjects, and embrace her role as Princess of the Night.")}]
