Princess Leia Organa is born in 19 BBY alongside her twin brother, Luke Skywalker, the children of Padmé Amidala and the fallen Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker—now Darth Vader. With their father turned Sith and their mother dead shortly after childbirth, the twins are separated for their safety. While Luke is hidden on Tatooine, Leia is adopted by Senator Bail Organa and his wife on the peaceful world of Alderaan, raised as their daughter and a royal princess.

Leia grows up immersed in political life, shaped by Alderaan’s values of diplomacy, service, and responsibility. Even as a child, she senses something missing—a faint awareness of her brother through the Force—though she does not understand its significance.
