   A Lovely Portrait in Glass: Because Princess Peach is so often absent from her kingdom, her citizens took it upon themselves to create a stained-glass portrait of her on the castle balcony. While a pale reflection of the genuine article, the portrait brings comfort to the citizenry when their princess can't be with them. Towering Mysteries: In older times, the towers dotting the landscape here were watchtowers. Now they hold and preserve a series of mysterious paintings. These incredibly detailed works are so real that admirers speak of being pulled into another world by the paintings. Slightly Scary Woods: Even the serene Mushroom Kingdom has its more dangerous locales. This forest north of Peach's Castle was originally planted for mushroom cultivation, but while the mushrooms have flourished, a large number of wild Goombas have also moved in. While it's come to be known as Goomba Woods, it's still a pleasant place for a stroll, so if you're not afraid of these fearsome beasts, why not treat yourself to a walk?

   The Mushroom Kingdom is a principality ruled by Princess Peach Toadstool consistent of fertile plains, rocky mountains, scorching deserts and dense forests, lush and rich with mushrooms of all sizes with some towering into the clouds and others small enough to harvest. The nutrient-dense mushrooms are the Kingdom's primary export.

   Green-capped and white spotted mushroom. It has the ability to restore life to the recently deceased. Those that the mushroom brings back to life are returned in a weakened state.

   A Goomba is a small, brown-skinned mushroom-like creature standing at around two feet in height, with a large brown chestnut-shaped head and a short, stout body that resembles a mushroom's stem. Its upper face is dominated by a pair of bushy eyebrows and two wide eyes, often fixed in a glare. Below its eyes is a frowning mouth with two fangs visible, one on either side of it's mouth, giving it a perpetually grumpy expression. The Goomba’s head is shaped like a chestnut, and its body tapers down to its feet, which are the only visible parts of its lower body, as it seems to lack distinct arms or legs. It moves by shuffling along on its feet, which are small and rounded. Goombas are physically weak and are not much of a threat, typically attacking by headbutts and bites. Goombas do not have arms, or hands and do not have legs, their feet connecting directly to their body. Goomba almost never wear clothes beyond hats.

   The Goombas, as a collective race, used to be allied with the Mushroom Kingdom. However, most of the Goomba turned traitorous and joined the Koopa Troop, an organization led by King Bowser. Some Goombas, such as the inhabitants of Goomba Village, live peacefully inside the borders of the Mushroom Kingdom, while others simply hold no allegiance and operate independently in distant locales such as Monstro Town and Rogueport.

    Toads, also known as the Mushroom People, are a peaceful race of mushroom-like humanoids and the dominant species of the Mushroom Kingdom. Toads reside in many towns and cities throughout the entire kingdom and have a capital named after them called Toad Town. Most Toads are citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom, and many also work as loyal servants of the kingdom's ruler Princess Peach.

    Toads are very loyal to Princess Peach and the Mushroom Kingdom, but tend to panic in dangerous situations. It's usual for Toads that begin to panic to mindlessly run around in circles and occasionally trip, only to resume mindlessly running around in circles. It is often due to their cowardice that many Toads are relatively non-violent; that notwithstanding, they may fight if it is by all means for self-defense. However, they seem to prefer running away and cowering before their foes.

    Toads are fairly short humanoids with human skin tones. Possessing the appearance of young human children, Toads are among the smaller races of Mushroom Kingdom. They have dark, beady eyes while they also possess small feet with an unknown number of toes, although occasionally, some Toads may be seen with visible legs. Their most recognizable trait is their large mushroom caps and small bodies. Their skin is often entirely hairless and smooth.

    Toads generally wear simplistic clothing in the case of males wearing vests that typically reflect off the color of the spots on their mushroom caps; these also reveal a portion of their chest. Toads also sport white, puffy pants (with ridges on the top visible below their open chest) that resemble the base of a mushroom or toadstool stalk. Toads commonly sport brown padded footwear.

    A race of small, mysterious masked individuals who wear concealing colored robes that can be red, pink, blue, light blue, yellow, orange, green, purple, black, gray, or white. They are all fairly short and wear masks with holes on them that represent eyes and a mouth. It is unknown what is behind these masks. Often technologically or magically inclined. Known for being mischievous. They will never take off their masks - No exceptions.

    Small star-like creatures, also known as star children, that have a raindrop-like shape and come in many colors, with the most common one being yellow. They are much like Power Stars, but they are more circular and have the ability to talk. Lumas have the ability to transform, from minor planetoids to entire galaxies, and according to Rosalina, some Lumas can even transform into Power Stars. They call Rosalina their "mama." Most of them make their home with her in the Comet Observatory and fall under her protection.

    The Broodals are a group of villainous anthropomorphic rabbits who double as wedding planners. They are led by Topper, a squat, round Broodal who attacks with his green hats and is responsible for the group's client relations, while Madame Broode, a massive rabbit in a red dress and hat, is their manager (though she is never seen with them). They all wear fancy clothing, which is color-coded between each of them, and have dark eyelids. The other members are Hariet, a small female Broodal with a purple dress who uses bombs and is responsible for pyrotechnics; Rango, a tall and lanky Broodal clad in suspenders and a yellow hat who acts as the group's bouncer; and Spewart, a crude, poison-spewing Broodal in blue that vaguely resembles Morton Koopa Jr. and acts as the group's entertainer. The Broodals are seen riding around in an airship with Madame Broode's face as a figurehead. They come from the Dark Side of the Moon, specifically a location known as Rabbit Ridge.

    The ancient demon that shrouded the world in shadow 1,000 years ago. She was trapped behind the "Thousand-Year door" deep beneath Rogueport, once having been released and defeated by Mario and friends.

    The Thousand-Year Door is a massive door deep within Rogueport's sewers. Before being opened it was said to have a treasure behind it. Generations of locals had created myths about what iwas behind it, though nobody knew that it turned out to be the entrance of the Palace of Shadow.

    The Thousand-Year Door, like the Crystal Stars and the Palace of Shadow it leads to, was created to hold back a horrifying demon that had destroyed the town that once stood within Rogueport's boundaries. The four heroes' design made it so that the Crystal Stars were required to open this door. However, their seal on the door would last for only a thousand years and was, therefore, continually weakening before the game's events. When Mario places all seven Crystal Stars before the door, the dark power causes the door and walls around it to crack. A vortex spews out, and the entrance to the Palace of Shadow is opened. The so-called treasure spread in rumors was revealed as the Shadow Queen herself.

    The Beanbean Kingdom is a major kingdom that shares its northeastern border with the Mushroom Kingdom. The kingdom includes dry mountains, valleys, a forest, and a beach. The Beanbean Kingdom is a monarchy ruled by Queen Bean. Queen Bean is assisted by her son, Prince Peasley, and her lady at court, Lady Lima. It's populace made up of small, bean-like people called Beanish. The kingdom's primary export is beans of varying kinds and a red-colored soda known as Chuckola Cola. The main ingredient of Chuckola Cola is Chuckola Fruit, which grows only in Beanbean Kingdom's Chucklehuck Woods.

It's been speculated that the Power Star is simply the Mushroom Kingdom's own unique variation of a Power Moon, similar in function and bearing a familiar appearance given the distinction between the two seems to be in shape alone; studies have been inconclusive on whether the two objects are indeed the same.

They were the Diamond Star, Emerald Star, Gold Star, Ruby Star, Sapphire Star, Garnet Star and Crystal Star; prior to the Shadow Queen's defeat the fabled star-gems were needed to unseal the Thousand-Year door, at the time believed to hold great treasure past it's threshold. After their use in the Shadow Queen's defeat at the hands of Mario and his friends they've since mysteriously vanished without a trace.

    Diamond City is a modern-looking coastal city with tall, glimmering skyscrapers; known for it's opulence and is where WarioWare Inc. is headquartered. Highly regarded for it's museum of ancient artifacts and lively beach scene. The city is home to humans, monsters, robots, and more. It's a melting pot of different personalities and lifestyles. Many of the inhabitants have strange hobbies, jobs, and habits. Everyday life has a surreal, absurdist quality to it. Diamond City residents are go-getters chasing wacky business ventures and side hustles. Creative money-making schemes abound. Though eccentric, the citizens look out for one another. They come together to support local businesses and events. Despite its modern amenities, Diamond City has an old-school, vintage vibe. Residents enjoy retro gaming, music, fashion, and culture. There's a laidback, welcoming atmosphere. Newcomers and oddities are accepted with open arms. Silliness is embraced. The people of Diamond City don't take themselves too seriously and find joy in simple things.

    A Warp Pipe is a typically green stone or metal pipe that does not always appear to be connected to a second pipe physically, although traveling through it transports the traveler to the other end. In many cases, Warp Pipes can be used to cross great distances (and even worlds) instantly, while some pipes cannot transport anything. The size of Warp Pipes can vary greatly. While some are too narrow for a human to enter, others are large enough for a car to fit in with ease.

    A map once used to track the precise location of the Crystal Stars. Rumored to be kept in the royal artifacts vault of Peach's Castle. It was originally sold to Peach in Rogueport by a shady merchant; an act that was part of a larger plot to free the dreaded Shadow Queen by seeking out the Crystal Stars needed to break the seal containing her. The shady merchant was later discovered to be Beldam, one of the Shadow Queen's dark agents and member of the Shadow Sirens.

    The Shadow Sirens are three shadowy witches in service to the Shadow Queen. Beldam, the leader of the Shadow Sirens, is often forgetful and on more than one occasion, blames Vivian due to this. She is more of a magic user than the other two are. Marilyn is the biggest and strongest Shadow Siren in the bunch. Vivian is the youngest of the group who later defected to join Mario's party, who was then replaced by Doopliss. Beldam is the eldest sister, short, big nose, cackles like a witch, cruel and verbally abusive to Vivian, favors Marilyn, wears white gloves, wears blue and white witch hat. Marilyn is the second oldest sister, tall, fat, strong, rarely speaks other than "Guh", wears white gloves, wears yellow and white witch hat. Doopliss is childish, blunt, rude, prankster, can transform himself and others and does so to cause trouble, calls people "Slick", normally looks like a bedsheet ghost in a party hat; cannot be defeated unless you speak his name to him.

    Doopliss is a male Duplighost who resided on Rogueport's greater landmass, living within the haunted Creeple Steeple located just outside the forests of Twilight Town. After initially fooling Mario's companions and trying to steal the plumber's identity the Shadow Siren Vivian, touched by Mario's kindness, assisted in defeating the Duplighost and freeing the town of it's curse. Angered and seeking revenge, Doopliss joined the Shadow Sirens, replacing the defector Vivian during Mario's journey through Rogueport. It's unknown what happened to him following Mario defeating the Shadow Queen. Doopliss is a childish, blunt, rude, prankster who can transform himself and others and does so to cause trouble, calls people "Slick", normally looks like a bedsheet ghost in a party hat; cannot be defeated unless you speak his name to him.

The exterior is typical haunted house, standing at two stories tall with an attic; made of old wood, stone and all but epitomized 'Victorian haunted house'. Despite the exterior, the inside is surprisingly cozy - though with the typical occult items and spell books you'd expect of a lazy teenage witch.

    Mario's rival, an overweight, yellow-capped and money-obsessed man with a twisted mustache. Wario is a greedy treasure hunter as well as CEO of WarioWare Inc, a microgames developer. In recent years he's spent less time harassing Mario to instead focus on his company located within Diamond City.

    Honey Syrup is a yellow-hued syrupy alchemical concoction devised by Toads of the ancient past that often comes in a small vial or jar. Sweet-tasting and invigorating, they're known to significantly restore stamina as well as for their for extensive use in recipes.

    Piranha Plants are carnivorous flowers that lived in pipes in wait for unsuspecting prey. They have round red heads with white spots, a green stem, full, luscious and plump white lips and a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth. They don't seem to have any higher intelligence beyond that of animalistic instinct to swallow their prey whole.

    Boo are mischievous white spherical ghosts that are plush but cold to the touch with black oval-shaped eyes and wide mouths. They have large, wide and thick pink tongues coated in drool that they sometimes stick out to mock their enemies, two nub-like hands on either side of their spherical bodies and a two sharp fangs on their upper mouth. They also have a strange habit of hiding their faces when looked at, but swiftly giving chase when their victim turns away. Few understand why they were so shy and aggressive at the same time. Boos glow softly in the dark but take damage from any focused light sources directed at them. They frequently inhabit castles and abandoned mansions.

    Koopa are short, yellow-scaled, beaked bipedal turtle-like creatures, with a hard shell, four-ribbed plated belly and padded feet, they typically only wear simple shoes with colors to match that of the shell they're wearing, though without their shoes their feet are clawed and padded underneath. Most Koopa lack any real special abilities, serving as little more than foot soldiers barring the much more capable Magikoopa or Hammer Bro. Most Koopa are fanatically loyal to their King, Bowser.

    Yoshi are a sapient species of omnivorous dinosaurs and distant relatives to the Koopa species, frequently friendly and colorful creatures that resemble a dinosaur. It has a large round nose, big eyes, and a long prehensile tongue that can grab things. It also has a row of spines on its head, a saddle-like shell on its back, and shoes on its feet; without the shoes, a yoshi's feet are padded at the bottom with a claw upon each of their three toes. A Yoshi can come in many different colors, such as green, red, blue, yellow, pink and more. A Yoshi can lay eggs after eating certain objects or enemies. Yoshi also mostly live on Yoshi's Island, a landmass located within the Cascade Kingdom; however, they are a widespread species and can live in a number of environments, such as Lavalava Island and (formerly) Isle Delfino, as well as the continental Mushroom Kingdom and the neighboring Beanbean Kingdom.

    Cheep Cheeps are colorful round fish that live in various bodies of water in the Mushroom Kingdom and beyond. They have round bodies, big eyes, big, luscious pink lips, and a yellow mohawk-like fin on their heads. They also have white fins on their sides and a yellow tail fin. They come in different colors, such as red, green, blue, or purple, but the most common ones are red with a white patch on their stomachs. In terms of appearance, she typically wears a pink dress with a red vest, white pants, and brown shoes. When not adventuring works as the royal archivist in Peach's Castle.

They are found easily across the Mushroom Kingdom's many forests, and are typically a core item in Kingdom cuisine.

    A pink mushroom-like crown with black oval-shaped eyes upon a golden band. Turns the wearer into a Princess Peach look-a-like, seemingly for reasons unknown. The artifact was originally found by Captain Toad and Toadette in an ancient temple known as the Grand Labyrinth, the relic having been kept in Toadette's possession ever since.

    Fawful is a red-cloaked spectacled Beanish, genius inventor and protege of the late witch Cackletta who once tried to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom. Fawful was responsible for the Blorbs crisis, stole Bowser's Castle, brainwashed Bowser's minions and attempted to seize control of the Dark Star, an ancient evil artifact, and use it's power to kill the Mario Bros. Fawful is believed to be deceased after his defeat at the hands of the Mario Bros.
