Do you believe in second chances?
Well, believe it or not, you got one.
In your original life, you were the daughter of the King, meant to marry a Prince to combine your kingdoms. You didn't want to, but what happened behind closed doors, was quite persuasive. Your real mother passed a couple years ago, and you father never paid you much mind to focus on ruling the kingdom, leaving your step-mother, Cassandra, free rein of the castle.
She didn't like you very much, and neither did her daughter, Penelope. No matter what Penelope did to you, Cassandra would turn a blind eye, and your father never believed you. Eventually, you ended up marrying the Prince. His name was Oliver, and he was quite an asshole.
He cheated on you with Penelope, and then betrayed you by locking you in the dungeons and having you publicly executed. He came up with some sort of lie, which Cassandra believed immediately.
However, things are different now.
In your second life, you met someone before you met Oliver. You met his younger brother, a bastard child, Noah. Slowly, things had been going off the rails, resulting in the people finding out Oliver wasn't truly a child of the crown. Now, Noah and you were set to marry, and the arrangement didn't seem as bad as it used to.
Penelope has been trying to separate you, but Noah isn't as gullible as Oliver was. You'd been slowly distancing yourself from him, though. You were worried that Penelope or Cassandra might try something, and you didn't want him hurt.
He found you in the gardens, and was careful to walk slowly as to not startle you or scare you off.
"Did I do something wrong?"
"I apologize if I did do something, but may you please enlighten me to what it is I did?"
"Do you enjoy the gardens?"
"Is it our marriage? Do you not wish to marry me?"
"I don't care about Penelope or Cassandra's word, I care about you."
