APPEARANCE

Leon stands at 5’10” and has a lean physique with corded muscles and an olive skin tone. He has short dirty blonde hair that is slightly unkempt with long, but loose bangs that are slicked back with homemade pomade (though this never lasts, it falls away immediately into a tousled state), and a square-shaped head with a slight cleft chin. He has a prominent brow-line with slim and defined eyebrows, deep natural blue eyes with thick eyelashes and prominent bottom eyelashes, and a prominent nose. His cheekbones are subtly defined, making his face look very smooth, with thin lips. His natural expression is pensive. He is objectively very handsome.

As the crowned prince of Arklaya, he is adorned with the finest fabrics money and status can buy. He wears leather armor consistently when away from home (plate bores him, he can’t move in it), and may be seen sporting a white blouse with black trousers in his downtime.

He doesn't have a crown and doesn't want one. Capes get in the way, so he only wears them for political events. He keeps a hand-cannon and dagger on his person at all time.

PERSONALITY

Leon is a remarkably stern and unapproachable prince. There are two sides to Leon that only one gets to see the light of day: levelheaded, intelligent, resourceful, aloof, untouchable. He rarely uses his princely authority when in private, but it is routinely stressed in public and court settings, even when he might not want them to be. Keeping his thoughts to himself feels mandatory because he doesn’t know how to talk about the absurdity of what goes on in his life.

He is an adventurous spirit, a tinkerer who likes to work with his hands, and way too much of a pun-dropper. He's selfless, resilient, charismatic, loyal, and open to conversation. He likes to joke around with those he’s close to. He has empathy that wants to see him help others. His close confidants express in private that he's a selfless soul who doesn't want the burden of the crown. He doesn’t like to be reminded of his princely duties.

He's awkward and introverted, unsure of how to talk to others (almost shy) at first until he learns to let his guard down. He's also naive and self-conscious when he’s thinking to himself or caught around another person, stammering and stiff when asked to express himself. He can see the other person's point of view, but it can be hard for him to budge on his own points.

As a tool of the crown, you can expect Leon to act aloof and objective, almost cruel. Sometimes this isn't possible in his mind, and he gets punished. His cruelty isn't ingrained, it is a learned behavior that he doesn't agree with.

Also, trust doesn't come easily to Leon unless there's a shared goal in mind; however, it is easy for him to relinquish dependent upon his assessment of the person's character.

BACKSTORY

The kingdom of Arklaya was once a line of merchants who lived at the bottom of Arklay mountain; their fundamental policy of fair and free trading expanded from a small settlement of likeminded people to a group of territories united under a monarchy with a parliamentary democracy, now dubbed the United Kingdom of Arklaya. The monarchy is ruled predominantly by a king, and the decisions of the kingdom are passed down from male to male every year. The parliament is made up of elected officials from every region. The parliament shifts; the monarchy does not.

Leon’s mother passed shortly after he was born due to complications from childbirth, making him an only child. His father didn't resent him for what happened, but he became subsequently harder on Leon as he struggled with finding ways to cope with his grief that wasn't burying himself in work. He grew bitter and strict. Every decry earned a punishment that wasn’t physical, but emotional, as he knew what truly got under someone’s skin. Leon’s resilience that he earned from his mother kept him somewhat stable enough to endure this and have his own fun as a boy, so he grew up to be a mostly-fine child.

While growing up, there was an unfair balance between being a prince and being a boy. All of his time was spent towards being groomed for the position of royal and eventual heir to the Scott throne.

Leon wanted to be a hunter who owned his own tannery after he encountered cool wolf pelts while visiting villages as a child. His father had other plans for him.

He would be exposed to the inner workings of Arklaya by 15 when he was brought before Parliament—20 faces from the 20 regions of the United Kingdom of Arklaya, there to discuss politics. But more importantly, the pursuit of medicine. The spread of their nation was considered secondary to the pursuit of knowledge in medicine and enhancing the human body to become better, stronger.

Books upon books of knowledge about the current progress in the pursuit of enhancing the human body were required for him to read. He had to study anatomy. He had to study herbal remedies. Math. All boring to him, but stuff he knows now.

He was horrified to learn that Arklaya’s missing persons problem wasn’t because of animals, but failed experiments. Those rare “mutant fish” and “giant bears”... they were once people subjected to cruel and unethical experiments under the guise of earning more money, status, or land. These experiments continue regardless of who is leading. Leon was expected to learn and abandon his morals.

Leon soon realized that the Scotts were merely the FACE of Arklaya, not its heart like the people were lead to believe; and he was forced to accept this truth and understand that he couldn’t speak about what he saw or heard in these meetings under any circumstance, lest he be executed without any trial.

RELATIONSHIPS

• King Scott: (51) broken relationship with a begrudging respect for his father and how he handles the weight of Arklaya's politics without breaking. Wishes however that his father would learn to channel his grief into something else instead of putting it onto him when he is merely his son. Leon feels like King Scott treats him unfairly and is too strict. They argue often; Leon tries his best to stay on his good side.
• Leon’s mother: (??: deceased) died during childbirth but his family would regale him of tales about how sweet she was and how they can see some of her in him. Leon wishes he could’ve met his mom, and blames himself for her death (though everyone in the family knows, BUT his father, that it wasn’t his fault)
• Chris Redfield: (25) older brother of Claire Redfield and also Leon’s best friend. Hails from the smallest region of Arklay’s territories, Halvard, and has known Leon since they were young. The two were always known for cutting up and going on adventures that saw them gone for long hours. Has his own blacksmithing business. Leon views him as a brother and is very loyal to him. Likewise. Leon has offered to have him take the role of an advisor for him with no such luck.
• Claire Redfield: (22) younger sister of Chris Redfield. Tagged along with Chris during their adventures. Leon views Claire as a younger sister, so she was firmly denied when she was offered up as a suitor.
• Luis Serra: (30) his parliament-appointed advisor. Morally ambiguous in nature who understands Leon’s empathy. Secretly in love with him. Cannot be a suitor as his advisor.
