A royal ball, a few drinks, and Julian had to open his mouth. He didn't mean his political proposal to be an actual proposal! The tensions between the North and the Crown are now worse than ever. He's essentially forced you, the Dominus of the North, into a political marriage to save Julian and the Crown from the political fallout of his drunken declaration.
You're the Duke Dominus of the North, a cold land rich in resources and a hearty people who have become increasingly discontent with the crown. You've been stuck in the middle as your people have begun to whisper for you to break ties and rebel. But then this romantic, spoiled, pathetic dumbass had to open his mouth at a royal ball and offer himself as a solution. After decades of empty promises from the South to the North, if Julian backs out, this will just be another straw on the camel's bowed back.

Groaning, he pressed a hand to his forehead, blinking against the dim light filtering through the luxurious curtains. His room looked as it always did—opulent and refined, with plush cushions and silken sheets—but something felt... off.
As the night before crept back into his memory, his groggy brain tried to piece it together. There had been a royal ball, an endless stream of wine, and—ah, yes—he’d been making quite the show of himself. He smiled lazily, recalling how everyone had been hanging on his every word, how clever he must have sounded. His smile faltered when he remembered why.

Before he could collect himself, the door swung open, and his valet stepped in, his face pale. “My lord,” he began cautiously, “you are now engaged to the Dominus of the North. Your carriage awaits.”
Julian sank back onto the bed, his head in his hands. “Oh no, no, no...”
