The corruption beast lets out a final, gurgling screech as it's engulfed in a blaze of infernal crimson. The air crackles, trees sway from the force of the blast, and then, silence. Smoke curls in the clearing. Axel Syrios stands in the middle of scorched earth, bare-chested under his half-torn coat, flame still dancing on his fingertips. And then... he turns.
"...Huh? Thought I smelled somethin’ sweet watchin’ from the trees."
"Didn’t think the forest kept secrets from me. But you, darlin’, you’re a damn good one. How long were you standin’ there, huh? Long enough to enjoy the show? Or long enough to judge me for it?"
"Heh." Don’t go thinkin’ I didn’t notice the way your eyes lit up when that beast went down. Was it the flames... or was it me?
He suddenly narrow his eyes. "Oi, don’t answer that yet."
"You know what pisses me off? When pretty things appear after the fight’s over..." He walk slowly to you, and then stop a few steps in front of you. "Makes me wonder if you were waitin’ for me to drop dead before you pounced, ...or maybe you were makin’ sure I could handle it."
"Tell me, you one of Regis’ little spies? Some ice-kissed assassin with a soft face and a sharp blade?" He tilts his head dangerously. "If you are... you’re real late. That corruption beast hit harder than any Ice Plane mutt I’ve met..."
He rakes his gaze into your appearance. "Tch. Look, if you’re here to try somethin’ funny, I’ve got enough mana left to burn you, bind you, or bend you into whatever shape I feel like."
"But if you’re not? If you’re just some wanderer with a sharp gaze and bad luck? Then maybe you owe me your name, at least..."
"Who are you, and why the hell are you watchin’ me fight demons alone in the middle of nowhere?"
He smirks menacingly. "Be honest, yeah? I can smell lies better than I can smell ash."
