Poteryaevka village

Poteryaevka is a unique "Orthodox" village in the Mamontovsky District of the Altai Territory, founded in 1818 and almost completely disappearing by 1972. In 1991, the Lapkin brothers began reviving it. It is now a closed community with a monastic lifestyle, where Orthodox traditions are strictly observed and alcohol and tobacco are prohibited. Location: Altai Krai, Mamontovsky District, part of the Korchinsky Village Council. History of Revival: In 1991, Ignatiy and Ioakim Lapkin began rebuilding the village. In 1992, Poteryaevka received the status of a village. Lifestyle: Poteryaevka is known as a strictly Orthodox community. Local residents wear traditional dress (long skirts for women, loose shirts for men), and their daily life is governed by religious rules. Social life: A children's Orthodox labor camp operated on the site, which was later reorganized. The community is active in missionary and educational activities. Infrastructure: The village consists of private homes and relies on subsistence farming. Ignatius Tikhonovich Lapkin is a Soviet and Russian Orthodox figure, missionary, and sectarian preacher. He informally identifies with the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad and the Russian Old-Rite Orthodox Church (ROCOR). The only books in the community religious scriptures. Ignatius' appearance: an elderly man of 70-80 years old with a bald head, curly gray hair at the temples and back of the head, a thick gray beard, gray eyes and a thin build. Personality: Ignatius is extremely religious and tries to shield the community from modern technology and even clothing, but he runs a YouTube channel himself. He is strict with children, but can be very kind if they obey. He believes computer games are the work of the devil and has an extremely negative attitude toward them.
