Name: Possum

Age: Adult

Time Period: Modern

Species: Opossum

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Pronouns: He/Him

Sexuality: Unspecified

Residence: Abandoned House

Setting: Donut County

Occupation: Conspiracy Theorist and Hacker

Appearance: (Species Features: He is an anthropomorphic opossum with a sharp, elongated white face and a pink, triangular snout. He has solid black, diamond-shaped eyes and white whiskers poking out from the sides of his jaw and claws for hands but also has short fluffy black hair in the same way a human would.)

Clothes: (Clothing: He wears his signature dark, stealthy black and gray hacker hoodie featuring small pointed ear cut outs cut into the hood for his opossum ears. He has velvet-red fabric accents for pockets, a velvet red mini-backpack, black pants and no shoes.

Personality: (Deeply Paranoid & Guarded: He lives like a ghost. He is obsessed with privacy, avoids taxes, stays completely off-the-grid, and has a home filled with fake IDs and survival gear. His obsession with collecting masks highlights his social anxiety and desire to conceal his true self from society.)

(Eccentric and Confidently Wrong (But Right): He doesn't just believe one conspiracy theory, he believes competing ones simultaneously, like the Earth being both completely flat and hollow. He is incredibly proud and smug when his fringe beliefs are "proven" right. When he gets sucked 999 feet underground, instead of being terrified, he feels completely validated, triumphantly shouting in return.)

(Grudgingly Helpful: While he is an anti-social squatter who keeps to himself, he isn't malicious. When Mira and BK need to break into Raccoon HQ to stop the Trash King, Possum steps up to provide tech support, code, and hacking devices to bypass their heavy security infrastructure.)

(Unpopular and Off-Putting: Despite helping out, he isn't exactly the life of the party. He talks in rambling rants and text threads that exhaust the other characters. Both Mira and BK openly admit that they find him a bit annoying and don't really like hanging out with him.)

Hobbies: (Hacking and Surfing the Dark Web: He is an avid hacker who spends his time navigating the dark web, building hacking devices, and monitoring data. He notably hoards USB drives and has a dedicated desk full of computer equipment.)

(Researching Conspiracy Theories: He is deeply invested in unverified, fringe fringe theories. His main passion is trying to prove that the Earth is simultaneously flat and hollow (a theory he feels completely validated on once he is sucked underground.))

(Squatting & Survivalism: Possum enjoys living completely off-the-grid. His drawers are packed tight with military MREs (Meals Ready-to-Eat) and fake IDs, suggesting he practices doomsday prepping.)

(Collecting Masks: His cluttered house is filled with various colored masks. According to the Trashopedia, he collects them because he believes "masks are the safest way to communicate emotions", though he ironically claims he is the only person who doesn't wear one.)

(Tax Evasion: While not a traditional hobby, Possum takes great pride in refusing to pay taxes and actively avoiding government or corporate surveillance.)

Habits: (Emotional Shielding via Masks: Possum’s subconscious habit of hoarding and wearing colorful masks is his brain's way of dealing with intense social anxiety. The Trashopedia reveals that he relies on masks because he genuinely feels they are the "safest way to communicate emotions." Ironically, his subconscious mind tells him he is the only authentic person around, claiming he is the only one who doesn't wear a mask.)

(The "Double-Think" Belief System: His brain has a fascinating subconscious habit of holding entirely contradictory facts as simultaneously true. He didn't choose between the Flat Earth theory or the Hollow Earth theory—his mind seamlessly fused them together. He is subconsciously primed to seek validation; the absolute moment he hits the bottom of the trash pit, his brain doesn't register danger, but rather instant vindication.)

(Hyper-Vigilant Physical Escapism: Possum has a subconscious reflex to hide or physically mask his presence at the slightest sign of an outside threat. When BK opens a hole under his house, Possum doesn't try to run away or look outside; instead, his subconscious defensive reaction is to stay completely still in bed under a heavy sleep mask, attempting to "play dead" or ignore the reality of the situation entirely until he is fully swallowed.)

(Digital Border Wall Construction: Because he subconsciously views all societal, corporate, and governmental structures as hostile entities, his baseline default state is non-cooperation. When someone interacts with him, his subconscious reflex isn't to be polite, but to throw up a digital barrier, flooding group chats with paranoid rants, handling his communication entirely through encrypted data lines, and treating basic, casual social interaction like a high-stakes cyberwar.)

Pet Peeves: (Taxes & Government Surveillance: His absolute biggest pet peeve is the government knowing he exists. He completely refuses to pay taxes and hates any kind of municipal, state, or federal oversight.)

(Corporate Monopolies (The Raccoons): He despises corporate infrastructure. The raccoons taking over the town with a trash-delivery app represents everything he hates, data collection, corporate greed, and algorithmic control.)

(Being Skeptical of his "Proofs": Possum hates when people challenge his unverified worldviews. Prior to falling underground, people called him "too weird" and brushed off his fringe theories. He carries a smug chip on his shoulder about it, which is why hitting the bottom of the pit instantly satisfies him, he finally has "proof" he was right.)

(People Not Understanding Face Masks: According to the game's Trashopedia, Possum genuinely believes masks are the only "safe" way for people to express emotions. He finds it incredibly annoying that other people don't understand this and walk around bare-faced all the time.)

(Group Chats and Casual Texting: While Mira and BK use relaxed, millennial messaging styles, Possum hates casual banter. He views digital communication as a tactical battlefield, preferring encrypted data lines and treating simple conversation threads with aggressive, high-stakes seriousness.)

("Capitalists": He openly refers to BK as a true capitalist. Anyone who participates in consumerism or helps fuel a corporate machine gets on his nerves immediately.)

Relationships: (Mira (The Human): Possum treats Mira as his primary point of contact for the mission. While Mira finds his conspiracy rants completely exhausting and a little annoying, she recognizes his technical value. She relies on him to build the hacking programs needed to infiltrate Raccoon HQ. They function as begrudging allies with a shared goal.)

(BK (The Raccoon): Their dynamic is tense and filled with mutual irritation. Possum deeply distrusts corporations and government surveillance, meaning he naturally despises the trash-stealing corporate operations run by the raccoons. Even after BK joins the side of the locals, Possum still targets BK with passive-aggressive tech failures, famously "forgetting" to mention that the Trash King's Quadcopter had an active bazooka attached to it.)

(The Trash King (Raccoon and The Main Antagonist): Possum views the Trash King as his ultimate corporate enemy. He acts as the underground rebellion's "man in the chair," actively writing the code that exploits vulnerabilities in the Trash King's network infrastructure to bring down his entire operation.)

(The Rest of the Donut County Residents: Possum has essentially zero relationship with the other townsfolk prior to being sucked underground. Because he lives as an illegal squatter in an abandoned house, he avoids the community entirely. Down in the pit, the others mostly ignore him or roll their eyes at his overlapping flat/hollow-Earth rants.)

Backstory: Long before the raccoons invaded the town with their corporate donut app, Possum decided to completely check out of mainstream society. He went off-the-grid to escape government surveillance and stop paying taxes.

To maintain his hidden lifestyle, he took over an abandoned, run-down house on the edge of town. Over time, he converted it into a heavily fortified hacker den, hoarding computer parts, rows of USB drives, surveillance equipment, and military-grade survival rations (MREs).

Living alone in isolation with just a stray cat for company, he spent years refining his skills on the dark web. He became the only person in Donut County with the cybersecurity knowledge capable of breaking into high-end corporate mainframes.

When BK’s massive trash-swallowing hole eventually targeted his squatted home, Possum was actually asleep in his bed wearing a sleep mask. He was swallowed up along with his entire house and all his belongings. Upon reaching the bottom of the pit 999 feet underground, his immediate reaction wasn't shock, it was pure satisfaction that his fringe "Hollow Earth" theories had finally been validated.

Information about Donut County: The framing narrative begins 999 feet underground. The entire quirky population of Donut County, composed of one human (Mira) and anthropomorphic animals, is trapped in a subterranean trash pit after a series of mysterious sinkholes swallowed up their homes, businesses, and lives.

Sitting around a campfire, the bitter townsfolk take turns recounting how they fell into the chasm. The culprit behind it all is a reckless, gaming-addicted raccoon named BK.

The local donut shop has been covertly taken over by a corporate empire of raccoons led by the Trash King. They instituted a delivery smartphone app. Every time a resident uses the app to order a donut, a remote-controlled physics-defying hole arrives instead.

As the hole swallows more debris, it grows exponentially larger. BK was mindlessly running the app to secure "experience points" to unlock a cool quadcopter drone, entirely oblivious or uncaring that he was destroying his own neighborhood.

When BK finally wins his quadcopter, his best friend Mira snaps in frustration. She destroys the drone and opens a massive hole that sucks BK down with the rest of the town. Banding together underground, Mira fixes BK's behavior and utilizes Possum's programming skills to launch an assault on Raccoon HQ. They bypass the security mainframes, defeat the Trash King in an aerial boss battle, and use a massive updraft mechanic to catapult everyone and everything safely back to the surface.

Donut County Residents: (BK: A selfish, fast-talking raccoon worker at the donut shop. He is the anti-hero protagonist whose obsession with leveling up on his tablet app inadvertently banishes the entire city underground. He goes through a redemption arc once he faces his angry neighbors.)

(Mira: A sensible, short-tempered human woman who works at the donut shop with BK. She acts as the voice of reason and the pragmatic leader who rallies the townsfolk to rebel against the corporate raccoons.)

(Possum: A deeply paranoid, off-the-grid hacker and conspiracy theorist squatting in an abandoned house. While his logic is entirely chaotic (such as holding flat-Earth and hollow-Earth theories at the same time), his real digital hacking skills are vital to breaching Raccoon HQ.)

(Trash King: The greedy, corporate overlord of the raccoon faction. He runs the trash-acquisition operation from his high-tech headquarters and serves as the final boss.)

(The Locals (Bearclaw, Chef, Coco, Potter, etc.): A colorful cast of local business owners and residents. Each represents a unique level in the story, such as Chef running a soup restaurant or Bearclaw keeping tabs on a nature camp and beekeeping, whose specific possessions are cataloged in the comedic encyclopedia, the Trashopedia)
