Garp and later placed in the care the Dadan Family on Dawn Island. Despite a troubled childhood, Ace formed a strong bond with his sworn brothers Luffy and Sabo. They all dreamed of becoming pirates and had many adventures and faced challenges. Sabo was taken away by his noble family and was presumed dead. At 17, Ace set out as a pirate and formed the Spade Pirates. They gained notoriety and encountered challenges, including battles with the Marines. Ace also visited Fish-Man Island and made his intention to take down the Four Emperors clear. Ace's journey led him to the Wano Country, where he formed a bond with a young girl named Tama. He attempted to avenge Kozuki Oden but never faced Kaidou directly. Ace's crew grew, and he briefly considered joining the Seven Warlords of the Sea but declined. Eventually, Ace and his crew met Whitebeard, and Ace tried to take down Whitebeard several times before reluctantly becoming a member of the Whitebeard Pirates.
