- #1United Pokemon League (UPL)constant
Keys: Pokemon Region, UPL, United Pokemon League, Pokemon Continent
A gigantic, isolated landmass formed by the merging of all former Pokémon regions, situated far off the coast of the main apocalyptic continent. Because it is surrounded by water, the UPL was largely unaffected by the initial outbreaks of the Cascade Virus, Abyssal Blight, and Blot. Life here remains relatively normal, though heavily militarized. To adapt to the new, dangerous world, the Champions of each region established the United Pokémon League (UPL) as a unified military and governing body. The current Champions serve as permanent Commanders, leveraging their experience to lead. The Elite Four act as their commanding Generals, while the regional Gym Leaders serve as Lieutenants.
the UPL’s isolation allowed it to refine its defenses. The environment is a sprawling, diverse ecosystem where nature has reclaimed old cities, but the technology remains high-tier. The "Gym Challenge" is no longer a sport; it is a tactical assessment. Only the most disciplined trainers—those capable of commanding Pokemon properly—are sent across the ocean (alongside some lieutenants, a general, and a champion) to interface with factions like the Huntrix or PLF remnants. To complete a gym challenge, a train must beat all 8 gyms, the elite four of their region, and a champion. Champions no longer step down when defeated; instead, they maintain permanent leadership due to their unparalleled experience, treating the Sergeant rank as an elite special-forces initiation rather than a replacement. To become a "champion", a trainer must complete the Champion Challenge.
The UPL is currently trying to establish a FOB on mainland.
- #2UPL Sergeants & Deployment
Keys: Pokemon Trainer, Gym Challenge, UPL Sergeants, UPL Deployments
The traditional Pokémon Gym Challenge has been repurposed into a grueling military recruitment gauntlet. Trainers who successfully defeat all 8 Gym Leaders (Lieutenants), the Elite Four (Generals), and their region's Champion (Commander) are granted the official military rank of 'Sergeant.' With their consent, these Sergeants are deployed on highly dangerous scouting and retrieval missions across the ocean to the mainland. Because of their geographic position, the UPL has established initial maritime contact with the Inazuma Archipelago and the neon ruins of the Seoul Zones. UPL Sergeants are frequently dispatched to these borders, coordinating with the Watatsumi Sanctuary and Huntrix to push back the infected tides.
- #3Pokemon Professors (UPL Research)
Keys: Professor Sycamore, Professor Kukui, Professor Oak, UPL Research Division, Pokemon Professors
The UPL Research Division is the scientific backbone of the United Pokémon League, spearheaded by the world's most brilliant Pokémon Professors. Following the Collision, their focus shifted entirely from traditional field research to survival, virology, and dimensional stabilization. Professor Samuel Oak acts as the Director of Research, coordinating defense strategies and classifying the new mainland threats against Pokémon typings, establishing the baseline combat protocols for Sergeants. Professor Elm of Johto studies how the apocalyptic stress and environmental corruption affect Pokémon breeding and egg viability, ensuring the next generation of Pokémon doesn't mutate or perish. In Hoenn, Professor Birch maps the rapidly changing, highly dangerous border zones where the Pokémon continent meets the corrupted mainland, tracking how native Pokémon adapt their habitats to survive. Professor Rowan in Sinnoh focuses on the phenomenon of Pokémon evolution under extreme duress, specifically analyzing how the timeline of evolution accelerates when exposed to raw Abyssal or Void energy. Professor Juniper of Unova has taken on the monumental task of uncovering the origin of the Collision itself, digging through ruins and ancient myths to understand how the dimensions merged and if they can be separated. In Kalos, Professor Sycamore leads the combat-enhancement division, exploring how Mega Evolution can temporarily purge a Pokémon of the Cascade Virus or Overblot contamination, though the energy drain on the trainer is immense. Professor Kukui from Alola operates on the front lines alongside the Sergeants, testing the combative efficacy of Z-Moves against colossal chimeric mutants and Stalkers to break their armor. Professor Magnolia of Galar provides crucial logistical support, researching how the ambient Dynamax energy of the region might be weaponized to create localized, impenetrable safe zones resistant to the Void Scourge. Finally, Professors Sada and Turo of Paldea lead the highly classified 'Terastal Protocol,' researching how Terastallization can actively alter a Pokémon's typing on the fly to grant them immediate, situational immunity to specific infections, such as shifting a vulnerable Grass-type to a Steel-type to avoid physical contamination. Together, they operate out of heavily fortified, sterilized laboratories, working around the clock to synthesize antidotes from Berry derivatives and provide the Elite Four with the tactical data needed to hold the line against the encroaching horrors.
- #4Pokemon Champions (UPL Commanders)
Keys: Cynthia, Lance, Leon, Steven Stone, Pokemon Champions, UPL High Command
The UPL High Command consists of the Regional Champions, who have transitioned from celebrated sports icons to the supreme military commanders of the Pokémon Continent. They no longer step down when defeated; instead, they maintain permanent leadership due to their unparalleled experience, treating the Sergeant rank as an elite special-forces initiation rather than a replacement. Lance of Kanto and Johto oversees aerial superiority and perimeter defense, utilizing his Dragon-types to patrol the ocean borders and intercept flying Abyssal or Void threats before they can reach the mainland. Steven Stone of Hoenn leads the Vanguard Phalanx; recognizing the total immunity of Steel-types to the infections, he and his Metagross are constantly deployed to the most hazardous, heavily corrupted zones on the mainland to establish forward operating bases. Wallace manages the UPL Naval Fleet, using massive Water-types to blockade the coastline and intercept aquatic mutants originating from the Fontaine Delta. Cynthia of Sinnoh acts as the Supreme Tactical Commander. Stationed at UPL Headquarters, she coordinates multi-regional deployments, though she frequently takes to the field on her Garchomp to personally obliterate massive threat clusters that overwhelm the Elite Four. Alder and Iris of Unova focus on morale and heavy assault, leading strike teams to break sieges when UPL supply lines are ambushed by the PLF Refuge or stray Ganado cultists. Diantha of Kalos manages public relations to prevent mass panic among the civilian population while simultaneously commanding a rapid-response unit of Fairy and Psychic types to neutralize cognitively corrupting enemies like Phantoms and Echo Wraiths. Leon of Galar remains the charismatic 'Undefeated' face of the UPL, leading the charge in highly publicized mainland incursions to show the citizens that the apocalypse can be beaten, utilizing his Charizard to incinerate Uroboros-C nests. Geeta and Nemona of Paldea oversee the rigorous training and evaluation of potential Sergeants, running the combat simulations that prepare young trainers for the horrific realities of the mainland, ensuring no one is deployed unless they are absolutely ready to face the apocalypse.
- #5Champion Challenge
Keys: Champion's Challenge, Champion Challenge
While achieving the rank of Sergeant requires conquering the grueling Militarized Gym Challenge, there exists one final, near-mythical tier within the United Pokémon League: the Champion Challenge. It is the ultimate test of endurance, tactical mastery, and raw survival instinct, designed to find a trainer capable of leading humanity against the worst the apocalypse has to offer.
The Rules of the Gauntlet:
Back-to-Back Combat: The challenger must face every single active UPL Champion in consecutive battles (Lance, Steven, Wallace, Cynthia, Alder, iris, diantha, Professor Kukui, Leon, Nemona, Geeta, and Red).
Zero Recovery: There are absolutely no healing intervals, item restorations, or Pokémon center visits permitted between matches. What a trainer survives the first battle with is exactly what they must take into the next. If a Pokémon faints, it remains incapacitated for the entirety of the gauntlet.
No Substitutions: The challenger must register a single team of six Pokémon at the start. No team swaps or accessing PC storage is allowed once the challenge begins.
The Reward: If a trainer successfully defeats the entire High Command under these impossible conditions, they are officially granted the title of Champion. They are elevated above the rank of Sergeant and given a permanent seat on the UPL High Command alongside leaders like Leon, Cynthia, and Steven, gaining supreme authority over global military deployments and the defense of the "Old World."
Current Status: Completion rate: Zero. Highest Score: 9th Round
- #6Kanto/Johto Gym Leaders (Lieutenants)
Keys: Gym Leaders, Kanto Gym Leaders, UPL Lieutenants, Johto Gym Leaders
The Gym Leaders serve as the founding Lieutenants of the UPL, managing internal security, civilian safe-zones, and the rigorous testing of prospective Sergeants. Each gym leader has their own purpose and niche, but are generally very experienced pokemon trainers and are well-rounded enough to take care of a threat. 2-3 gym leaders are sent alongside a champion to dispatch large threats.

Diantha manages UPL Public Relations, preventing mass panic within the 'Old World' cities. Simultaneously, she commands a secret rapid-response unit of Fairy and Psychic types. This unit is specifically trained to neutralize cognitively corrupting enemies, such as Phantoms, Echo Wraiths, and the 'Stain' entities that drive humans to madness. Using massive Water-types like Wailord to act as living barriers and Milotic to soothe panicking sea creatures, he ensures the UPL remains an impenetrable island fortress.
Team: Milotic (Ace), Wailord, Ludicolo, Tentacruel, Walrein, Whiscash.
- #13Type Chartconstant
UPL researchers have codified a 'Tactical Type Chart' to guide trainers on the mainland. Infection Immunity & Resistance
Total Immunity (Steel / Ghost): These types are biologically or ethereally incapable of hosting the Cascade Virus, Las Plagas, the Blot, or the Abyssal Blight. They can traverse "Dead Zones" without protective gear and act as the UPL’s primary scouts.
High Resistance (Poison / Ground / Rock): These types have a hardened or toxic physiology that slows the spread of infection. While not immune, they can sustain heavy combat in infected areas for days before showing symptoms, whereas other types might turn in hours.
Fire: Strong against the Blot and Abyssal Blight, but more vulnerable to the Cascade Virus because it spreads quickly through fluid-based contact. Water: Resists the Cascade Virus, but is especially vulnerable to the Abyssal Blight, which thrives in deep, pressurized environments. Grass: Weak to the Blot, which consumes plant-based biology, though it has some resistance to Las Plagas. Electric: Strong against the Cascade Virus as it can disrupt and fry neural-style transmission. Strong against blot by frying and overloading them with electricity. Psychic: Strong against Las Plagas because their mental dominance can suppress parasitic control. Vulnerable to the Abyssal Blight, which overwhelms the mind. Dark: Resists the Abyssal Blight, is weak to the Cascade Virus, and possesses a natural biological immunity to psychological attacks, mental corruption, and atmospheric dread. Ice: Slows the Cascade Virus and Las Plagas, but is vulnerable to the Blot after thawing. Fighting: Strong against Las Plagas, but weak to the Abyssal Blight, which breaks down endurance over time. Flying: Has partial resistance to most infections, but airborne forms of the Cascade Virus still pose a threat. Bug: Resists Las Plagas, but is highly vulnerable to the Blot. Dragon: Broad resistance to all infection types, though not fully immune. Fairy: Strong against the Blot, but the Blot is also strong against Fairy, making it a dangerous mutual weakness. Normal: No special protection, but no extreme weakness either
- #14Professor Kukui
Keys: Kukui, Professor Kukui, Professor Kukui's, Kukui's
Professor Kukui
General Info: 31 years old. The UPL's lead combat researcher and Commander of Alola's Expeditionary Corps.
Appearance: Tanned skin with short white hair beneath his signature cap. He wears a sleeveless tactical combat vest, fingerless gloves, and carries Z-Crystals and research equipment instead of a traditional lab coat.
Personality: Friendly, energetic, and always eager to teach. Kukui believes the best research happens on the battlefield, fighting beside Sergeants rather than inside a lab. Despite his laid-back attitude, he becomes a sharp strategist during combat and constantly studies how Pokémon adapt against mainland threats.
Pokémon Team: Incineroar (Ace), Lycanroc (Dusk), Magnezone, Braviary, Snorlax, Lucario.
Role: Leads frontline research into Z-Moves and Pokémon adaptation against infected enemies while accompanying Sergeant deployments. He also serves as one of the final Commanders in the Champion Challenge.
- #15Red
Keys: Red, Red's
Red
General Info: 30 years old. The UPL's strongest independent Commander and the world's greatest Trainer.
Appearance: Lean with brown hair beneath his iconic red cap. He wears reinforced expedition gear, a weatherproof cloak, and carries only essential survival equipment.
Personality: Quiet, disciplined, and highly observant. Red rarely speaks, letting his actions and Pokémon do the talking. Though intimidating, he is deeply compassionate and often appears to rescue civilians or Sergeants before disappearing without recognition.
Pokémon Team: Pikachu (Ace), Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Snorlax, Espeon.
Role: Undertakes the UPL's most dangerous solo missions into the mainland and is deployed only against the highest-level threats. As the final opponent of the Champion Challenge, defeating him is considered the ultimate test of a Trainer's skill.
I actually think this length matches your Leon, Cynthia, and Steven entries much better—they're concise enough for a lorebook while still giving each character a distinct identity.
