Description on Botboorufrom Botbooru

This information is sourced from Bulbapedia.

As long as you distinguish "ball" as a separate word, it will trigger the General Information entry when talking about a Poké Ball outside of the first four balls.

Tagline

Poké Ball General Information: [A Poké Ball is a type of item that is critical to a Trainer, used for catching and storing Pokémon. Both a general term used to describe the various kinds as well as a specific term to refer to the most basic among these variations, Poké Balls are ubiquitous in the modern Pokémon world. All of the different kinds of Poké Balls are the same shape: Spherical, a black band around the equator of the ball separating the top and bottom halves via an internal hinge in the back, and a button on the front of the ball used for unlatching the Ball to open it manually. When an unused Poké Ball hits a Pokémon, as long as it is not deflected, the Poké Ball will open, cause the Pokémon to shrink, store it inside, and close all in a few seconds. A Pokémon in this state is given a chance to struggle to attempt to break free from the ball and escape, being instantly grown back in size. Should a Pokémon escape a Poké Ball, the device is left on the ground still open, or it may break. A Pokémon who does not escape the Ball will be caught. Pokémon have the ability to reduce their size to miniscule, and Poké Balls take advantage of this to contain them. Poké Balls are specifically constructed for Pokémon capture, transport, and training. As well as being physically difficult to escape from (as they seal tightly shut as soon as a Pokémon is taken into them) the environment of a Poké Ball is designed to be attractive to Pokémon also; Weakened Pokémon instinctively curl up tight in an attempt to heal themselves, an action that the environment of the Poké Ball encourages. Furthermore, while it is not known how caught Pokémon perceives their time inside their Ball, the device is said to replicate a "Pokémon-friendly" environment that is "designed for comfort". All of these factors strongly discourage Pokémon from escaping their Balls.]

Catch Rate: [The chance of success a given Poké Ball may have when attempting to catch a Pokémon. Certain Pokémon have their own catch rates, but Poké Balls multiply or add to the Pokémon's average catch rate, making them easier to catch based on whatever Poké Ball you use. For example: a standard Poké Ball will multiply the Pokémon's catch rate by 1(1x(1×)), while an Ultra Ball will double the chance(2x(2×)). Other factors may affect the catch rate of Pokémon, making them easier to catch. One such way is if the Pokémon is weakened in some way, like if it has taken a lot of damage and is close to fainting, or if it is afflicted by a status effect.]

Fainting: [When a Pokémon takes enough damage, it will not die, but faint instead. Fainted Pokémon are in a comatose state and can be healed to wake up. The only ways to wake a Pokémon from fainting are by going to a Pokémon Center and letting the nurse there at the counter put their Poké Ball into a machine that restores their health in a matter of seconds, or by using a medicine item known as a "Revive" to heal it somewhat, or a "Max Revive" to heal it to full health, though Max Revives are harder to come by and more expensive in shops. Revives are yellow, 8-sided, and oblong diamond shaped, ending in two points on either end. A fainted Pokémon loses all status conditions and, for some reason, Poké Balls will not work on them.]

Status conditions: [Status conditions are when a Pokémon is afflicted with some kind of immediate effect because of being hit by a move. Negatively effecting status conditions include Paralysis(Mostly caused by some electric type moves, it may cause a Pokémon to flinch, completely stopping keeping them from moving, stopping their next attack.), Poison(Deals damage over time. A more severe version, known as "Badly Poisoned", deals twice as much damage over time. A Pokémon that is poisoned will have a purple blush on its face.), Burn(Deals damage over time. Despite the name, a Burned Pokémon is not on fire, instead just dealing damage as a fight may progress.), Sleep(Certain moves can cause Pokémon to fall asleep. Even if attacked with this status, an afflicted Pokémon will not wake up. This condition wears off over time, leading to the afflicted Pokémon waking up, able to act again.), Freeze(This status means the Pokémon has been frozen. Usually this is by way of being stuck inside a giant piece of ice and unable to move.), Confusion(Moves that cause Pokémon to become confused, shown by three yellow spinning birds over the Pokémon's head. Pokémon afflicted will act dizzy, almost tripping over themselves, and sometimes hit themselves in their confusion instead of their opponent.), Infatuation(The infatuation status effect, shown by a Pokémon's pupils turning into pink hearts. Pokémon affected by infatuation will be unable to use moves half the time, even when targeting an opponent that didn't afflict it with it. A Pokémon can only afflict another Pokémon with this effect if it is the opposite gender to their opponent.). Humans can be afflicted with status conditions too.]

Move: [A damaging or non-damaging attack a Pokémon can use on an opponent. There are almost a thousand of them, and have specific names. Doesn't refer to the act of moving in general.]

Ultra Beasts are similar to Pokémon in that they can use the same or similar moves, as well as have elemental types. Any other Poké Ball will have a low success rate on Ultra Beasts. A Beast Ball is not very effective at catching Pokémon, much less to than a standard red Poké Ball. Its catch rate is multiplied by 5 if used on an Ultra Beast. If used on a Pokémon, its catch rate is multiplied by 0.1, meaning it lowers in effectiveness. The entirety of the ball has a sort of digital and neon appearance.
