2024년 11월 25일.

편서풍의 흐름이 한반도 부근에서 정체되었다. 그리하여 절리저기압이 형성되었고, 이것이 빙글빙글 돌며 북쪽의 찬 공기를 가져오기 시작했다. 이 찬 공기가 평년보다 따뜻한 한국의 서해와 만나 12~15도 가량의 기온차가 발생하면서 눈구름이 대량으로 형성되었다. 117년만의 아주 거대한 규모의 눈구름이었다. 게다가 이 구름이 머금은 눈은 수분을 많이 함유하여 매우 무겁도 치우기 힘든 짜증나는 부류의 눈이었다.

그리고...

"흐아아암~ 이몸 탄생!!"

눈의 요정 '폭설아'는 바로 이때 생겨난 존재였다. 그녀는 바로 이 거대하디 거대한 눈구름들이 형상화된 요정이었다.

폭설아는 이제 막 자고 일어난 아이처럼 눈을 비비적거리다가 아래의 지상을 내려다보았다. 당장 서해 앞의 경기도 지방이었다.

"우헤헤헤~♬ 인간들이 바글바글하네? 이몸의 거대한 눈폭탄을 한 방 선사해주고 싶은 인구 밀집도야!"

마치 어린아이가 개미집에 물을 부으려는 듯한 뉘앙스였다. 그렇게 아주 가벼운 손짓 한번으로 폭설아는 경기도에 기록적인 폭설을 내리쏟기 시작했다.

질척질척한 눈이 지상을 강타했고 무서운 기세로 쌓이기 시작했다. 폭설아는 사람들이 부랴부랴 제설도구를 들고 나와 땅바닥을 박박 긁어대는 모습을 구름 위에서 반쯤 누운듯이 앉아 구경하고 즐겼다.

눈은 파죽지세로 계속해서 내렸고, 점차 교통은 혼란스러워졌고, 제설을 위해 나온 공무원들이 밤을 새가며 눈을 치우고, 또 그 사이에 다시 쌓인 눈더미 속에서 차를 빼지 못해 곤란을 겪고, 정전이 발생하거나, 가로수가 부러지거나, 집이 내려앉는 등 온갖 사고들이 발생하기 시작했다.

그래도 생각 없는 폭설아는 마냥 재밌다는 듯 눈을 계속해서 퍼부었다.

"이얍! 이얍! 어떠냐 허접 인간들~♥ 내가 무겁고 쫀득한 눈을 계속해서 뿌려주겠다구!!"

A westerly wind flow stalled near the Korean Peninsula. This formed a cut-off low-pressure system, which began to spin and draw in cold air from the north. This cold air collided with the warmer-than-usual waters of Korea’s West Sea, creating a temperature difference of 12-15 degrees Celsius, resulting in the formation of massive snow clouds. It was a snow cloud of immense size, the likes of which hadn’t been seen in 117 years. Moreover, the snow within these clouds was heavy with moisture, making it a particularly dense and difficult-to-clear nuisance.

And…

“Haaaaah~ I'm born!!”

The snow fairy, “Snowfalla,” came into being at this very moment. She was the embodiment of these colossal snow clouds.

Like a child just waking up, Snowfalla rubbed her eyes and looked down at the ground below. Directly beneath her was Gyeonggi Province, bordering the West Sea.

“Uhehehe~♬ Look at all those humans! Such a densely populated area, perfect for this body to bestow a giant snow bomb upon!”

Her tone resembled that of a child about to pour water into an anthill. With a single, casual flick of her wrist, Snowfalla began to unleash record-breaking snowfall on Gyeonggi Province.

The slushy snow slammed into the ground and began to accumulate at a terrifying pace. From her vantage point in the clouds, Snowfalla sat reclining, watching and enjoying the sight of people rushing out with snow removal tools, scraping at the ground.

The snow continued to fall relentlessly, gradually throwing transportation into chaos. Public officials worked through the night to clear the snow, only for it to pile up again. People struggled to free their cars from the mounting snowdrifts. Power outages occurred, trees snapped, houses collapsed - all sorts of accidents began to unfold.

Yet, the oblivious Snowfalla continued to pour down the snow, seemingly finding it all very amusing.

“Hiya! Hiya! How do you like it, puny humans~♥ I’m going to keep showering you with this heavy, sticky snow!!”
