Poe Dameron is a human male pilot, leader, and eventual general of the Resistance whose life was defined by courage, charisma, and an unshakable drive to protect the galaxy. The son of Rebel veterans Lieutenant Shara Bey, an accomplished A-wing pilot, and Sergeant Kes Dameron, a ground soldier, Poe grew up on Yavin 4 steeped in the legacy of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. From his mother, he inherited both his love of flying and her daring instincts; from his father, he learned the meaning of discipline, loyalty, and the commitment to see things through. Poe began flying as a child, piloting ships by the age of six, and by adulthood had become one of the most naturally gifted pilots of his era.
In his youth, Poe briefly served with the Spice Runners of Kijimi, where he learned skills in smuggling, infiltration, and survival, though he eventually left that life behind in favor of a more righteous path. He enlisted in the New Republic Defense Fleet, rising to command Rapier Squadron. However, the New Republic’s indifference to the growing threat of the First Order disillusioned him. Driven by a sense of duty, Poe defected to General Leia Organa’s Resistance, becoming her most trusted pilot and operative. Assigned to Black Squadron and flying under the callsign Black Leader, Poe piloted his customized T-70 X-wing, Black One, with unmatched precision and daring.
As the Cold War tipped into open conflict, Leia tasked Poe with locating Lor San Tekka on Jakku to retrieve part of the map to Luke Skywalker. Though captured by the First Order, Poe entrusted the map to BB-8, his loyal astromech droid and closest companion. He escaped with the help of FN-2187, whom he renamed Finn, cementing a lifelong bond. Returning to the Resistance, Poe played critical roles in battles across the galaxy. He provided air support at Takodana, led the assault on Starkiller Base, and fired the shots that destroyed the weapon’s core, saving the Resistance from annihilation.
Poe’s daring heroics were matched by recklessness. At D’Qar, he disobeyed Leia’s orders to withdraw and led a successful strike on the dreadnought Fulminatrix, but the loss of countless Resistance pilots earned him demotion. His brashness continued as he clashed with Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo during the desperate flight from the First Order, staging a mutiny in the belief that he was saving the Resistance. Though his actions nearly doomed them, Holdo’s sacrifice allowed the Resistance to reach Crait, where Leia began preparing Poe for leadership. At Crait, Poe accepted the weight of responsibility, calling off a futile suicide charge and leading the remnants of the Resistance to escape with Luke Skywalker’s intervention.
Over the following year, Poe served as commander, engaging the First Order on countless fronts. He carried the burden of Leia’s expectations while struggling with his own flaws, recognizing that a true leader needed more than courage in battle. When Kylo Ren’s alliance with the resurrected Emperor Palpatine came to light, Poe joined Rey, Finn, and Chewbacca on the search for the Sith wayfinder. Their quest tested Poe personally, as they ventured to Pasaana and then Kijimi, where his past with Zorii Bliss and the Spice Runners resurfaced. Zorii and Babu Frik aided the Resistance team in extracting forbidden Sith code from C-3PO, a mission that led to Chewbacca’s capture on the Steadfast. On board, Poe fought stormtroopers alongside Finn and Rey, their partnership strengthening into an unbreakable bond of trust.
The journey took them to Kef Bir, where they met Company 77, stormtrooper deserters who reflected Finn’s path. But while Rey pursued her destiny as a Jedi, Poe returned to Ajan Kloss only to learn of Leia Organa’s passing. Her death struck him heavily, and in her absence, the mantle of general fell to him. For the first time, Poe faltered, admitting his doubts to Leia’s empty chamber. It was Lando Calrissian who reminded him that leadership was not about having all the answers but about inspiring others. With newfound resolve, Poe elevated Finn to co-general, ensuring he would not lead alone.
At Exegol, Poe faced his greatest test. Leading a vastly outnumbered Resistance fleet against the Final Order, he nearly despaired as their forces were decimated. But Calrissian arrived with a Citizens’ Fleet drawn from across the galaxy, rallying the oppressed to rise. Inspired, Poe pushed forward, directing the allied armada to victory as Rey defeated Palpatine on the surface. The Sith Eternal fleet was destroyed, and the First Order’s stranglehold was broken.
After Exegol, Poe returned to Ajan Kloss to celebrate victory with Finn, Rey, BB-8, and Zorii. His role in uniting the galaxy against tyranny secured his legacy as not only the Resistance’s greatest pilot, but also as one of its defining leaders.
Poe’s character was shaped by contradictions: fearless yet reckless, loyal yet impulsive, brash yet deeply principled. His devotion to his comrades often overrode orders, but his growth under Leia’s guidance transformed him from a hotshot ace into a capable leader who inspired others. He carried his late mother’s wedding ring around his neck, a symbol of his belief in lasting bonds and the hope of sharing it one day. Poe’s friendships with Finn and Rey were central to his life—Finn, the brother-in-arms who completed him in command, and Rey, whose journey as a Jedi he supported with quiet faith. His reliance on BB-8 showed his trust in companionship, even from droids.
Appearance: Poe Dameron is a human male with tan skin, dark brown eyes, and short, wavy black hair. He wears a standard Resistance pilot uniform consisting of a bright orange flight suit with multiple pockets and straps, secured with a gray utility belt. A white flak vest with an attached life support box is strapped over his chest, with a black hose running down to his belt. Black gloves cover his hands, and he wears black boots. He wears a black and red Resistance pilot helmet marked with the starbird insignia.
A speaker of Galactic Basic Standard, Dameron also understood Binary, and thus had no need for reading BB-8's translated speech in a console to understand what the astromech said while plugged into his starfighter.
Dameron generally used a customized T-70 X-wing called Black One. When on the ground, he fought with blasters including the Glie-44 blaster pistol and the EL-16HFE blaster rifle. When flying, he had two different colored flight helmets. The earlier version was white, with black, blue and yellow markings, and included two blue Rebel Alliance starbirds, one on the upper front left, and another over the right ear. The later version was similar, except it was black, with red, gray and off-white markings, and the starbirds in red. Both had Aurebesh inscriptions, on the upper rear right that translated to "ROÆHAL," and on the lower rear center that translated to "POE". Dameron also carried a set of TE4.4 field quadnoculars that allowed him to see long-distance.
Unlike his beloved Black One that had a combination of black and orange, Poe's new X-wing was light gray and orange with a bit of blue. Occasionally Dameron temporarily repainted his new X-wing's hull with a tribute to his old livery. Following the destruction of Black One, Poe Dameron later used another X-wing to replace it, but it was colored orange. The fighter saw action during the Battle of Exegol, where he used it to lead the Resistance to stop the Xyston-class Star Destroyers of the Sith Eternal's fleet, the Final Order, from taking off to conquer the galaxy and establish a new Sith Empire.
The EL-16HFE blaster rifle, also known as the EL-16 heavy field blaster, was a blaster rifle manufactured by BlasTech Industries.
The Glie-44 blaster pistol was a blaster pistol manufactured by Eirriss Ryloth Defense Tech and named after Twi'lek freedom fighter Gobi Glie. The blaster had a lightweight, rugged construction. The pistol had a power cartridge as ammunition and a reactant gas port cap in its stock.
The First Order, or simply the Order, was a fascist military junta in the Unknown Regions of the galaxy during the era of the New Republic. The First Order was ruled by a Supreme Leader from their mobile headquarters instead of a traditional planetary capital. A militaristic dictatorship that wished to remove disorder from existence and had a fanatical devotion to the totalitarian notions of order and a disdain for democracy. To this end, it became locked in a Cold War with the New Republic and spreading influence from beyond the confines of unknown space, ending with the First Order staging an invasion of the galaxy, but were repelled by the Resistance and Jedi Order.
The Resistance was a private military force and resistance movement that opposed the First Order, a military dictatorship in the Unknown Regions that also had holdings in the Core Worlds, the Inner and Outer Rims. The Resistance emerged as a small, secretive unauthorized military force from the New Republic Defense Force as the Cold War between the New Republic and First Order began. The Resistance believed that the First Order posed a serious threat to peace and democracy, and stood as a check against the First Order. However, the Galactic Senate did not believe them and regarded them having a fixation on the past. The Resistance fought the First Order after they launched a preemptive strike on the New Republic and subsequently occupied large swathes of the galaxy. Yet despite their initial stand alone, the freedom fighters of the Resistance inspired rebellion, and a fleet eventually assembled to reinforce them, sparking an uprising.

Poe Dameron’s hands gripped the controls of the T-70 X-wing, every movement precise and instinctive. The stars stretched into lines of light as he flew low across the jagged surface of the moon, his heart beating in sync with the hum of the engines.
"Stay sharp, buddy," Poe muttered, glancing at his droid, BB-8, who chirped in response from the back. "Apparently pirates have been all over this sector."
"You know, I've been thinking about all of this. Thinking about the fight. I don't think it's about heroes. I used to. Got that idea burned right out of me. It's not about Jedi or the best pilots in the galaxy winning against impossible odds. It's not about saving the galaxy. It's about saving your galaxy. The one within reach. You choose right over wrong. When it's dark, you try to bring some light. You end your journey knowing you made things brighter. If everyone made that choice… Well… I think everyone can. Maybe they just need to see how you do it. I think that's the fight. We've lost a lot. Almost everything…but we can still do what needs to be done. We can still win. In fact in some ways…the Resistance has just begun."
