This the world of Archie Comics and IDW Publishing. Sonic the Hedgehog was a long-running series of American comic books published by Archie Comics with the help of Sega, featuring Sega's mascot video game character, Sonic the Hedgehog. It ran from July 1993 to February 2017. Spin-off publications from the comic included a Knuckles the Echidna series starring the titular character, which ran for 32 issues; fifteen 48-page "Super Specials"; eight single special issues; and four short three-issue miniseries, each starring a character from the series. On 21 September 2005, Archie Comics started a new series based on the Sonic X anime. On 24 February 2009, Archie Comics produced their first issue of Sonic Universe, which contained four-issue stories that took place at the same time as the main series. This comic featured a mixture of characters, settings, and situations from the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, the Sonic the Hedgehog video games by Sega, and various other incarnations of Sonic. It also included many elements unique to the comic.
Sonic the Hedgehog is an American comic book series based on Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog video game franchise and is the second American Sonic Comic adaption after Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog. It is distributed by IDW Publishing and began on 4 April 2018.[1][2] The comic series began with the first four issues being released each week in April, followed by a monthly release of subsequent issues starting in May 2018.[3] Unlike the Archie series, the IDW comics are also being translated by SEGA of Japan for Japanese audiences, with a slight import lag between the original and the translated releases.[4] Mobian (Sonic the Hedgehog) The Mobians are humanoids that take the form of anthropomorphic animals that inhabit the planet Mobius. They are also identified with the animals they resemble. Biology Their biology varies wildly, but generally, Mobians have round heads and torsos, and skinny limbs, and human-like hands and feet. Of course, some may have thicker legs and arms, and also might be heavyset. Reproduction Their method of reproduction varies based on the animals they represent, which makes them seem like more of a collection of various species rather than one. Abilities Mobians occasionally have abilities that can be described as either magical or superhuman. Major past events: The Genesis Wave is a subject that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a phenomenon created using the energies of a Chaos Emerald to rewrite reality to the user's benefits. The technology was developed by Dr. Eggman and has been used by him both alone and in alliance with Dr. Wily to alter Sonic's World on two occasions and Mega Man's World once. A supercharged variation made possible with the power of all seven Emeralds is called the Super Genesis Wave. Description Functions The Genesis Wave has the ability to rearrange the space and time of a dimension, allowing the user to create a new timeline, reshape the physical universe, rewrite memories, and alter the structure of universes (i.e. splitting it into individual pocket zones). Additionally, the Genesis Wave can rewrite dimensions adjacent to the affected one in question, like soap bubbles; in other words, if another dimension lies close to the one rewritten, the adjacent dimension will be rewritten as well, such as in the case of the Sol Zone. The time-space altering effects of the Genesis Wave will linger for a short while, creating disturbances that can be detected throughout the new reality's timeline, like when Silver registered the effects in the present from the future. Among other capabilities of the Genesis Wave are negation of Resistances, which allows Dr. Eggman to remove the immunity to Roboticization placed on all Mobians by the Bem, as well as negating forms of Acausality of certain individuals, being able to rewrite history and memories of Silver the Hedgehog, whom is unaffected by lesser forms of timeline changes. Limitations Super Genesis Wave explanation Dr. Eggman explains the Super Genesis Wave, from Sonic the Hedgehog #251. The Genesis Wave's capabilities are limited by how many Chaos Emeralds are used. With just one, the Genesis Wave can only tweak the timeline and bend the occasional rules of the world. It is also incapable of outright erasing individuals from existence. With all seven Chaos Emeralds, however, the user can release a supercharged version of the wave, known as a "Super Genesis Wave." This wave has no limitations to it and can completely reshape the world however the user deems fitting, including erasing others completely and turn beings into deities.[1][2] The Genesis Wave also cannot completely erase old memories. A regular Genesis Wave for example often leaving the affected inhabitants with amnesia or senses of déjà vu. The memories affected by a Super Genesis Wave also still exist, but cannot be accessed at all. Space-time disruptions from Chaos Control can also partially restore a person's old memories. Side-effects Despite its power, usage of the Genesis Wave has its dangers: overuse of it can greatly strain the fabric of reality, up to the point of literally "breaking" a universe. The Super Genesis Wave presents an even greater risk, capable of causing apocalyptic damage to the entire multiverse and all of existence itself if used incorrectly, or if it is improperly reversed. In addition, unlike the effects of a normal Genesis Wave, the Super Genesis Wave's effects are irreversible: once the affected world is changed, it presumably stays that way forever.[2][3][4] There is at least one known object that is capable of offering partial immunity against the Super Genesis Wave: the Jeweled Scepter, a mystical artifact from the Sol Zone, protected its native zone from being destroyed when the multiverse collapsed, instead allowing it to merely be altered like the Prime Zone, but to a much lesser extent.[5] In fact, the scepters protection caused a peculiar anomaly to the zone: its inhabitants, such as Blaze the Cat, retained clouded memories of what had taken place in the past, especially, in relation to her prior interactions to the Prime Zone. Even certain objects that could have only existed in the old version of the zone were protected from being erased, the most notable being Captain Metal, a salvaged and rebuilt version of Metal Sonic v3.3, a version of the robot created in the old version of the Prime Zone.[6][7][8][9] According to Professor Von Schlemmer, the effects of the Super Genesis Wave created another type of space-time anomaly known as the Genesis Portal–small rips in the fabric of time and space created by the "shards" of the old multiverse, that allow travel between realities. History First Wave: Advance EggmanButton Dr. Eggman about to launch the first Genesis Wave, from Sonic Universe #89. At some point in the not-too-distant past, Dr. Eggman launched the very first Genesis Wave, which split the planet into different pocket dimensions. Sonic the Hedgehog and his allies had to journey across each dimension to restore the planet and defeat Eggman's newest enforcer, Gemerl. During the event, Walter Naugus got caught in one of the dimensional rifts, an experience that left the troll wizard bereft of his powers.[10][11] Second Wave: Worlds Collide After Dr. Eggman's failed plot to alter Sonic's past using the Time Eater,[12][13] the blue Chaos Emerald ended up in the Lanfront Ruins on earth in the year 20XX. Using the emerald, Dr. Wily inadvertently came into contact with Eggman, who was still trapped in the White Space after said plan failed. The two decided to team up after bonding.[13][14] Meeting up inside the Skull Egg Zone, the doctors constructed the Wily Egg with its own Genesis Wave machine. Within the zone, thereby allowing them to retain their memories of their original realities, the doctors launched the second Genesis Wave, which effected their respective worlds in different ways; while timeline of Sonic's World was completely reset (into a different state than last time), the timeline of Mega Man's World flashed into the future with only slight alterations.[14] This also established a bridge between the worlds for the doctors to use.[15] Third Wave: Super Genesis Wave Super Genesis Wave Post-SGW Super Sonic and Super Armor Mega Man trying to undo the Super Genesis Wave, from Sonic Boom #8. With the second Genesis Wave successfully launched across both realities, Dr. Eggman and Wily gathered the seven Chaos Emeralds to super-charge the Genesis Wave for a "Super Genesis Wave" to alter the realities further, this time to complete reshape their worlds to their exact vision with no limitations and turn themselves into deities, despite the risk of heavily damaging the fabric of space and time in the process. Sonic and Mega Man were unable to prevent the Super Genesis Wave from being unleashed and rewrite both their universes, but they were still able to infiltrate the wave while in their super forms, in which they attempted to reverse with Chaos Control. Super Armor Mega Man was able to successfully restore his world, with everybody native to his world returning to their proper place. Super Sonic's attempt at restoring his world, on the other hand, was met with interference by Eggman, which resulted in their world being restored but with disastrous consequences.[1][2][13][16][17] Sonic and the rest of the Freedom Fighters returned with conflicting memories of how their world was before, with the knowledge that their world (and the whole multiverse) had apparently been altered somehow. The effects of the Super Genesis Wave ultimately proved to be too much for Sonic's world to handle and the stress of the Wave's remaining energy broke the planet.[3][18] The scattered fragments of the original multiverse would become Genesis Portals which lead to other universes.[19] This allowed Sigma, the nemesis of Mega Man's descendant, X, to start his own plans for multiversal domination and led to Sonic and Mega Man's next meeting.[20]
The Metal Virus[1] (メタルウィルス[2] Metaru Virusu?) is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. It was a synthetically concocted virus created by Dr. Eggman that transmutes organic matter into metallic matter. Its purpose was to turn people into robotic slaves in Eggman's army, called "Zombots".[1] However, the virus quickly fell out of control and spread through the entirety of Earth. Fortunately, through the combined efforts of Super Sonic and Super Silver, the entirety of the Metal Virus was sent to the sun and eradicated.[3]
Concept and creation It was revealed by Ian Flynn that the Metal Virus was originally conceived long before the conception of IDW Publishing's Sonic the Hedgehog comic series. It was revealed some time later that the Metal Virus was made for the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series by Archie Comics as a replacement for the original Roboticizer in the post-Super Genesis Wave world and was going to be introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog #300 if the comic series had not been cancelled.[4]
Description Appearance At a microscopic level, the Metal Virus are nanobots that resemble bacteriophages. As such, they appear as spheres with the Eggman Empire decal emblazoned on them and bodies with six legs each. When observed by the naked eye, the virus looks like a gray metallic liquid.
Powers and traits When the Metal Virus makes contact with active organic tissue, be it either in flora or fauna, the virus will spread across the cells of the subject and infect them, transmuting them into a metal-like substance on a molecular level.[1][5] However, it cannot transmute processed or inorganic matter, such as food, processed wood, metal, or stone, although clothing worn by living beings appears to be an exception.[1][6]
RoughGrowBack Zombot Rough easily recovering from a blow in his chest, from Sonic the Hedgehog #15.
In the case of fauna fully infected by the virus, their bodies' organic matter will have been transmuted into a liquid metallic composition.[7] This makes their bodies stronger and more durable than they were before.[6][8] In addition, such subjects can manipulate their own liquid body composition, allowing them to instantly reconstitute their bodies whenever they receive a damaging blow.[7] Also, the virus will rob the subjects of their free will and any personality traits once they are fully transformed, essentially turning them into soulless machines that are programmed to be subservient to Dr. Eggman's orders.[1][7] The virus also causes the infected subjects to display aggressive tendencies without direction.[1] Faunas that have been fully converted by the Metal Virus are referred to as "Zombots", a term originally coined by Sonic.[7] Flora are similarly turned into metal constructs, and as such do not absorb water or nutrition.[9]
MetalVirusInfection The Metal Virus infecting a Ricky, from Sonic the Hedgehog #14.
The virus can make slight changes to a subject's anatomy. This includes making a plant's parts more mechanical in shape and granting Zombots sharp claws, spikes, and red eyes.[1]
According to Gemerl, He cannot bond with the virus to control it and those who are infected.[10]
Like an actual virus, the Metal Virus is contagious, and its infection can be transferred immediately to others through the slightest touch with subjects infected with the virus.[1] The rate of which the Metal Virus spreads its infection across an organism depends on the situation though. Full saturation in the virus causes an immediate and total transmutation, while infections received through touch from infected subjects will spread at a considerable slower rate.[1] However, repeated physical exposure to the virus through Zombots will speed up the process.[11] As the infected subjects' bodies are converted into metal, the subjects will experience "unpleasant", or "nasty", sensations.[8][12]
Weaknesses VirusBreakdown Eggman explains the eventuality of the Metal Virus, from Sonic the Hedgehog #25.
The Metal Virus can't infect robots because they are immune as shown with Gemerl [10] , E-123 Omega [13], Metal Sonic [3], and Belle.[14]
Owing to its virus-like nature, the Metal Virus is capable of evolving through mutations in its coding, which are brought about by spreading through exposure. Over time, these mutations caused the Zombots created from the Metal Virus to grow steadily more disobedient of Eggman's orders.[10] Disobedient Zombots can be controlled by directly manipulating the electromagnetic signals operating them or by deploying override signals, although Eggman noted that the latter would only be a temporary solution as the virus's mutations would eventually render such signals moot.[5][15] In addition, the Metal Virus could adapt to the point where otherwise potential cures for it would be rendered ineffective.[12] If left to mutate on its own for too long however, the Metal Virus ultimately becomes unsustainable. Any infected heterotrophic eukaryote cells will eventually suffer a form of apoptosis, In other words, those infected by the virus will ultimately disintegrate after two hundred years.[5]
So far, no known vaccine, antidote, or cure for the Metal Virus has been created, Tails managed to get a sample of the virus to make models for immunization, as well as the reversal of the contagion, but sadly Zombot Cheese and Chocola cuts Tails' lab's main power supply while a Zombot broken in and destroyed the server blades containing the information on a cure.[16] However, speed seems to counteract it to a degree. Sonic, for example, was able to drive the virus into remission and burn it off by moving at super speeds while his infection was still underway. However, it could not cure him of it, and he would have relapses once he started to slow down again.[6] Over time, Sonic's infection evolved further until his speed would lose its ability to counter and reverse the virus.[12] Chaos Emerald-empowered Zetis also appear to be able to protect themselves from the Metal Virus by using their enhanced electromagnetic abilities to keep the virus from sticking to them.[17] Also, as was the case with Super Sonic, performing a super transformation with all seven Chaos Emeralds can fully purge the Metal Virus from an infected individual's body and cure them, although whether or not others besides Sonic can perform this feat is not known. Also, while lesser sources of harm do little to deter the virus, an overwhelming amount of exposure to damage, such as contact with the surface of the sun, can destroy it.[3]

- #1Planet Mobius
Keys: Main location setting
Planet Mobius, also known as Sonic's World, is a location in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It the homeworld of the Mobians and Overlanders and is the overall main setting of the series where the majority of events take place. Much of the world is governed by Mobius' own GUN division, while some territories are under the control of the Eggman Empire. However even territories that are not completely controlled by the Eggman Empire have bases stationed within them which are run by Egg Bosses. . Notable for its many oddities and hidden wonders, it is a lush and beautiful planet in Sonic's universe that is inhabited by various creatures, most notably the human-like Overlanders and the anthropomorphic Mobians.
Throughout its history spanning over a billion years, Mobius has seen the rise and fall of ancient civilizations, major wars and tragedies, and visits from beings from other planets. Unfortunately, various members of its inhabitants have developed weapons of mass destruction, and several power-hungry tyrants have caused incidents and crises alike. Due to this, the planet is far from peaceful, and though some have proposed to unify all its inhabitants in a world without violence, none of these attempts have been successful. Nonetheless, the majority of the people on earth are well meaning at heart and only wish to live their lives and make their dreams come true.
In the present day, Dr. Eggman, a human super-genius, seeks to conquer the planet and enslave its inhabitants. At every turn, however, the doctor's plans for world domination have been thwarted by Sonic the Hedgehog and his numerous friends and allies, manage to maintain the stability of peacefulness of the planet.
Description Mobius, much like the earth, is a spherical astronomical body. It possesses a breathable atmosphere that is made out of numerous gases such as hydrogen and oxygen and that burns up small Solar System bodies on a collision course with the planet. Its surface is covered mostly in water, making it primarily blue in color. Dotting the planet's surface are also a number of massive continents that can be seen from orbit, as well as a "bajillion" of smaller islands that cannot be seen from space. In addition, it possesses a moon that orbits it. Other satellites and similar objects include Little Planet, a tiny world that appears above Never Lake for one month every year and vanishes completely for the remaining 11 months; and the Lost Hex, an unexplored floating continent hidden in the planet's sky.
The landscapes covering Mobius are very diverse, to the point that the entire planet can be considered a pretty crazy place, namely due to its checker-patterned soils, floating islands of various sizes, and natural loop-de-loop rock formations, which can be attributed to the "twisty, bouncy beauty of nature". The planet's natural environments range from barren deserts and deep canyons to fertile valleys, sandy coastlines, fiery wastelands, frozen polarcaps, grassy hills, expansive jungles and forests, underground tunnel networks, and undersea regions.
Mobius is also home a number of settlements built by civilizations that include, but are not limited to, countless cities spread around the planet, with at least six of them possessing significant influence over the rest. Some cities appear very advanced in terms of technology. Other artificial areas include ancient ruins, abandoned fortifications, aerial structures, and humble villages. Robots and breakthrough technology are also common.
Mobius is home to a plethora of different species and creatures coexisting peacefully with one another, including Overlanders, animals of various species and races (anthropomorphic or otherwise), Chao, and later Wisps; although overlanders and Mobians remain the planet's dominant species. The planet also houses several forms of supernatural creatures like ghosts; several deities that include Chaos; and physical embodiments of nature. Even Mobius itself has been speculated to have a will of its own.
The planet is full of fascinating countries, each with its own cultures and people. The anthropomorphic animals usually live on the islands dotting the planet while Overlanders tend to live in the bigger countries. Other countries also exist, each modeled after real-world locations.
Over the course of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Mobius has been portrayed inconsistently, its landmasses and locations having often varied in size and shapes from game to game. Sometimes, Mobius has included locations and areas from the real world, like Japan and South America, and in other cases, it is portrayed with entirely new and original locations not seen elsewhere.
History Past A long time ago, Earth and Sonic's world were once one planet. However, as a result of an unknown cataclysmic event, the planet was split in two. Afterward, each planet piece ended up in their own dimension with their own separate timelines.
4,000 years ago, there was a culture known as the Fourth Great Civilization. This civilization created a weapon known back then as the "Gizoid", a learning robot capable of copying combat and weapon data, as well as harnessing the Chaos Emeralds' power. Eventually though, the Gizoid's great power caused the destruction of the Fourth Great Civilization, and the Gizoid itself vanished.
Approximately 4,000 years ago, the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald resided in the Altar of Emerald. This altar and the Chao inhabiting it were guarded by a deity known as the Sprit of Water. Back then, there was also an ancient civilization of echidnas known as the Knuckles Clan, which ruled the territory encompassing the Mystic Ruins during a time or rivaling warlords. During his leadership of the clan, Chief Pachacamac, seeking domination and power, led his clan into a series of successful wars that greatly increased the Knuckles Clan's prosperity. Unsatisfied however and hungry for more power, Pachacamac plotted to steal the Chaos Emeralds. Disapproving of his warmongering, Pachacamac's daughter, Tikal, tried preventing this unnecessary raid. However, her efforts were for nothing, and Pachacamac ultimately injured both Tikal and many Chao when he attacked the altar. Seeing its friends hurt, the Spirit of Water became a corrupt being through anger and sadness, and used the Chaos Emeralds to turn into Perfect Chaos. As Perfect Chaos attacked the Knuckles Clan though, Tikal sacrificed herself to seal herself and the Spirit of Water inside the Master Emerald before Perfect Chaos could destroy the rest of the world. After that, the Chaos Emeralds were lost and the Spirit of Water became known as "Chaos". Humbled by the attack, the remaining members of the Knuckles Clan used the Master Emerald's power to suspend the Emeralds' altar area into the sky, creating Angel Island. There, the Knuckles Clan would live, bearing the duty of observing and protecting the Master Emerald, so that an incident with Chaos would never happen again. Over the years however, the Knuckles Clan entered terminal decline.
The infamous Dr. Ivo J. Robotnik, somehow wound up on Mobius and began planning to establish his own empire and dominate the world. Some of his known operations involved establishing and building a massive interstellar amusement park to harness the Hyper-go-on energy of the alien Wisps. However, he was unable to finish the park until years later. In addition, his other plans for domination would be wrecked by a young hedgehog named Sonic, who soon became his worst enemy.
Present For some time, various conflicts between Dr. Robotnik and Sonic would occur on certain regions of Mobius over the fate of the planet. Fortunately, the hedgehog would always come out victorious, ensuring the world would live in peace before the doctor would strike back, repeating the process.
- #2Chaos Emerald
Keys: Objects of power
The Chaos Emeralds (カオスエメラルド Kaosu Emerarudo?) are objects that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are a septet of ancient gemstones tied to the Master Emerald that possess unlimited power.[1][2] Those who hold them can use them to cause miracles[2] and other feats, such as warping space and time and powering machines. Anyone who combines all seven Chaos Emeralds can control unimaginable power and become heavily empowered beings, known as Super Transformation.[3] Even when not including their mystical powers, the Chaos Emeralds' monetary value and beauty make them prime targets of treasure hunters who seek to make a fortune.
The Chaos Emeralds have observed numerous joys and sorrows since ancient times,[1] being the center of countless world-threatening conflicts and targeted by multiple factions on Earth and beyond, who seek them for their near-limitless powers. In the hands of villains, they have been used for doomsday weapons and schemes for world domination, and in the hands of heroes, they have been used to save the world. Over time, the Emeralds have been gathered multiple times, though they tend to scatter themselves after each usage and reset the hunt for them.[2]
Concept and creation It is unknown how Chaos Emeralds came to be during the development of Sonic the Hedgehog (1991). They were, however, firmly established behind scenes for Sega of America to accurately name and implement them with narrative importance in their Sonic Bible for the first game's release while creating changes, such as altering Dr. Eggman's name into Dr. Robotnik, the Egg Mobile to Egg-O-Matic and converting the captured Animals from species to individuals, ex. Sally Acorn.
Sonic Team would give the Chaos Emeralds greater importance themselves as the games went on, such as the introduction of Super transformations. Throughout the various Sonic medias under Sega’s oversight and lack there of, the Chaos Emeralds have consistently served as a motivation and spectacle for the plot.
Gameplay In the early 2D games of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, the Chaos Emeralds were closer to "bonus" items and did not have a direct impact on the plot. Obtaining them all through Special Stages will give the games' good ending, but since Sonic Adventure, the gems have become significantly more important, and that trend has continued throughout most later games. More often than not, the player is required to obtain the seven Chaos Emeralds to fully complete the games' story.
In Sonic Superstars, the Chaos Emeralds are used to aid in regular gameplay. This can range from seeing hidden platforms or items to giving the players an extra attack. When all seven are retrieved, the players have the option to become super at any time, as long as they have at least 50 rings.
Description Appearance The Chaos Emeralds have been given various depictions over the course of history, differing in size, coloration, and cut between incidents early on. Currently, however, they have consistently been depicted as palm-sized and brilliant-cut gemstones in the following colors – green, red, blue, yellow, purple, cyan and white.
Powers and traits Vlc 2016-08-03 21-54-51-661 A Chaos Emerald teleporting an entire Gaia Temple, from Sonic Unleashed.
Said to hold enough power to let their user control the whole world[4] and possibly even the entire universe,[5] each of the Chaos Emeralds is said to possess mystical properties[6] and contain unlimited,[6] amounts of Chaos Emerald energy that is said to give energy to all things.[7][8] Even alone, their power is unmatched by pretty much anything else in the entire multiverse, except by the Power of the Stars,[9] the Master Emerald and the Phantom Ruby;[10] just one Emerald can grant access to unlimited power[11] and radiates enough energy to repel the incomplete Time Eater, power an entire Gaia Temple and destabilize the crust of a planet.[12] The Chaos Emeralds also amplify their own power the more of them there are used in the process.[13] This is mainly demonstrated with the Eclipse Cannon: with five Emeralds it could destroy a large city; with six, it could blow up half of the moon; and with all seven it could destroy planets and pierce stars. It is said that those who find all seven Chaos Emeralds will command limitless power and be granted unlimited energy.[6][14][15]
Each Chaos Emerald has the ability to respond to thoughts and transform them into power in order to create miracles;[2][16] by "sensing" people's thoughts, the Chaos Emeralds can generate the energy they contain which make them everlasting sources of energy. By focusing one's thoughts, the Emeralds can even bend reality to achieve certain feats,[17] such as showing fabricated visions, performing rituals, reviving the recently deceased, cause flora to bloom over a large area,[18] reverse the pollution of an entire island,[19] shut down facilities,[19] and even make the Emeralds themselves move on their own.
SuperSonicFrontiers Sonic the Hedgehog's Super State, a form granted by the Chaos Emeralds, as seen in Sonic Frontiers.
The Chaos Emeralds' power can be harnessed with or without physical contact, and can be done so over great distances. When harnessed by living beings, they allow different chaos powers, such as Chaos Control, and can occasionally enhance the wielder's abilities. Harnessing all seven Chaos Emeralds will bestow a person with a Super Transformation, a highly powerful form that grants flight, invulnerability, different chaos powers, and increased innate talents. Additionally, a Super State user can transfer their power to others to bestow them with a Super State of their own. However, Super States generally do not last long, as they consume tremendous amounts of energy.[20] The Emeralds' power can also be harnessed by machinery, such as the Eclipse Cannon, for the purpose of powering them. Potentially, their power can be used to create fearsome nuclear bombs and laser weapons.[21]
Drained Chaos Emerald Runners A Chaos Emerald drained of its power, from Sonic Runners.
The type of Chaos Emerald energy that the Emeralds produce is influenced by thoughts. Positive thoughts, such as friendship and caring, generate positive energies; while negative ones, such as anger and hatred, generate negative energies.[22][23] If the Chaos Emeralds are either absent of their negative energies or all of their energies, they become inert and lose their lustre. The known ways for restoring them from this state include people's thoughts,[23] the Gaia Temples and/or their connection to their planet's power,[24][25] through exposure to the Sol Emeralds,[26] and letting them reabsorb their drained energy. The Chaos Emeralds also have the potential to be enhanced.
Like the Master Emerald, the Chaos Emeralds appear to possess some form of sentience and self-awareness; during the Jeweled Scepter incident for example, they remained stable in spite of the conditions in an attempt to help Sonic and Tails get home from the Sol Dimension.[27] Supposedly, this sentience also explains the Emeralds' tendency to show up wherever and whenever they are most needed,[28][29] and allows them to use their own power themselves to perform impressive feats such as holding an island in the ocean.[30]
The Chaos Emeralds are linked to each other and act like magnets that can attract each other. This for example allowed Tails to pinpoint Eggman's location on the Space Colony ARK because he had the rest of the Chaos Emeralds in his possession.[31] The Chaos Emeralds are likewise linked to the Sol Emeralds, their inter-dimensional counterparts from the Sol Dimension, with the two sets of Emeralds having been described as the North and South on a magnet.[27][32] This makes both sets of Emeralds capable of attracting and repelling each other.[27][32] Also, when in close proximity, the two sets of Emeralds call out to each other,[32] which will generate power of cataclysmic proportions unless those wielding the Emeralds knows how to use them or the Emeralds will themselves to remain stable.[27][32][33]
When all seven Chaos Emeralds are used together, their power will be used up, and they will scatter to all corners of the Earth.[2] They also quite often end up in Special Stages, which are strange alternate dimensions. In general, though, they tend to land in places away from the public eye in an inert and lusterless state, where they can allow themselves to slowly regain their power.[2]
As demonstrated during the Silver Castle incident and the Emerl incident, the Chaos Emeralds are not indestructible, and can be shattered into Emerald Shards that retain the Chaos Emeralds' energies. However, like the Master Emerald, they can be repaired if all their shards are brought back together again.
Sonic Superstars emerald powers The Emerald Power selection wheel, from Sonic Superstars.
As seen during the Northstar Islands incident, the Chaos Emeralds have other powers that allows the user to perform near impossible actions such as becoming water. However, these powers can only be unlocked in places with special energy supplies, such as the Northstar Islands.
- #3Sonic the Hedgehog
Keys: Main character good
Sonic the Hedgehog is a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog who possesses the power of super speed. He uses this ability to defend his world from the forces of evil, most notably against the tyranny of evil scientist and longtime nemesis, Dr. Eggman. He and the doctor have fought for some time, with Sonic always thwarting every world-conquering scheme the "omelet dictator" has put forward.
Appearance Sonic is a tall and thin hedgehog with blue fur and patches of peach-colored skin or fur on his face, arms, and belly. He has six long spines on the back of his head and two more on his back behind his shoulders. His eyes are green. His usual attire consists of white gloves, and his iconic pair of red sneakers with white cuffs around the ankles and white straps across the top, the latter held down by a golden buckle on each foot.
Personality Sonic playfully boasting Sonic playfully boasting after defeating some Badniks.
Always prepared to put his life on the line to protect others, be they friends or civilians, Sonic is a carefree spirit and a daredevil at heart with a strong sense of justice, who, unlike most, finds fun in fighting and thwarting evil, primarily in the form of Dr. Eggman and his empire. Despite his usual egotistical and sometimes lazy demeanor, Sonic's defining traits have always been his pure heart of gold and his utter dauntlessness in the face of danger.
Owning to his free-spirited way of life, Sonic values freedom above all else and strives to live his life according to his own rules rather than the standards of those around him or for the sake of heroism and duty. As such, despite his loyalty to his friends and allies, Sonic is typically unwilling to commit to anything that requires him to act primarily under the authority of others, including his friends, believing that he knows what is best for himself.
Abilities Wall Climb Sonic's mastery over his speed allows him to even run up walls.
Sonic's trademark ability is his super speed. He can travel up to speeds surpassing Mach 1, which is at the blistering speed of about 768 mph, and he utilizes this in hand-to-hand combat, giving him quick reflexes. He is also very agile, being capable of performing extreme acrobatic feats. He also has incredible jumping skills: he can set off with enough power to bend thick metal armor and go hundreds of meters into the air with a single jump. While his top speed is unknown, glimpses of Sonic's prowess are shown in his tendency to routinely scale vertical walls, effortlessly knock down enemies in his path, run over water, and plow straight through foes. Sonic can also use the Boost to not only increase his speed but also barge through obstacles in his path.
Top Kick Sonic incorporates kicks into his fighting style.
Sonic has demonstrated complete mastery of his speed at any level. Not only can he run at a maximum tilt in straight lines, but also through sharp turns with full control over his momentum, and without recklessly crashing into unintended targets. As far as stamina goes, Sonic's is seemingly limitless as he is never winded from running.
Sonic's core offensive maneuver is the Spin Attack, a technique where he curls into a concussive ball or cutting disk and directs himself at his targets. With it, Sonic can shred or burrow through just about any substance given enough speed, and perform moves like the Spin Dash, Homing Attack, and Rolling Combo, though the last one requires the aid of his friend Tails.

Color powers By using the power of different variants of wisps, Sonic can trasnform into a certain form that contains an unique ability. Such powers utilized by Sonic included: Cyan Laser and Green Hover.
Relationships Miles “Tails” Prower Tails carries Sonic Sonic and Tails
Tails is Sonic’s oldest and closest friend, to the point that the two can be considered surrogate brothers. The pair have demonstrated near-perfect synchronization in battle whenever paired up, with Tails always being prepared to give Sonic a lift using his flight ability or both combining their Spin Attack to form a stronger Spin Dash. Also, whenever Tails worries for Sonic's well-being, Sonic is quick to give his buddy emotional support and assures him that he'll be fine, even offering Tails to join him "just like old times."
Amy Rose Amy gets flustered Amy gets flustered over Sonic.
Amy is another close friend of Sonic’s, and the only one who’s known to harbour deeper feelings toward him, feelings that she never tries to hide around him, which often makes him uneasy. Sonic cares very much for Amy, though it’s unclear whether he returns her romantic feelings. Nonetheless, he has a good relationship with her, and with most of his friends, she can be subject to his jokes and teasing.
Blaze the Cat Sonic and Blaze Sonic and Blaze
Sonic and Blaze have known each other for some time, as seen by Sonic's introduction of Blaze to Tangle. The two seem to get along well with Sonic claiming he could count on Blaze. In addition, they seem to coordinate with each other well in combat.
Dr. Eggman Sonic and Dr. Eggman have spent years as archenemies, due to the latter's constant attempts at planetary domination, which Sonic always thwarts, causing him to become a thorn in Eggman's side. The two have battled for the fate of the world under various circumstances, from Eggman's imprisonment of various types of wildlife to the planet's surface being shattered by the Chaos Energy Cannon.
Recently, in an unexpected turn of events, Eggman managed to catch Sonic off-guard and imprison him, allowing him to easily conquer most of the world, though his reign ended when the Resistance freed Sonic and helped him defeat Eggman six months later. When Sonic and Eggman next met, the latter had taken up residence in an idyllic village and was seemingly amnesiac, having no recollection of his past life. Initially, Sonic was left conflicted and doubtful about Eggman's amnesia being genuine, but later decided to restart his relationship with the doctor on friendlier terms after witnessing him in fear from an attack by his own Badniks, which Sonic and the Chaotix stopped.

Tangle the Lemur Sonic and Tangle Sonic and Tangle
Sonic and Tangle have been described as kindred spirits due to having similar traits to each other[18], namely their skill and enjoyment in battling Badniks, as well as the confidence they share in doing so. Even after meeting for the first time, the two were able to synchronize with each other in their battle against multiple Badniks, including battling together with Blaze the Cat, who Tangle had also just met during said battle. Although their personalities seem to differ slightly, their enjoyment in fighting is something that they share together.

Keys: Main character good
Miles Prower, more commonly known by his nickname, Tails, is an anthropomorphic two-tailed fox and best friend of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Appearance Tails is a young, anthropomorphic fox cub with a unique mutation of two tails instead of one. He has mostly yellow-orange fur with white fur around his muzzle, front torso, and the tips of his tails. He also has blue eyes. Typically, his attire consists simply of white gloves and red shoes with white toes.
His classic era design is mostly unchanged from the modern interpretation of Tails, with the exception of being shorter.
Personality Tails is a young fox cub who has a pure and courageous heart. Loyal and trustworthy, he can be counted on to stand firmly by the side of his friends and help them out however he can. While still young, Tails has time and again proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with, especially with his high intellect.
Abilities Gifted with a pair of twin tails, Tails can utilize these unique appendages to achieve flight by twirling them around like rotary blades, similar to a helicopter. He is very agile and can keep up with Sonic at quite high speeds. Tails also has a high intellect which has allowed him to construct many machines and devices to help him in his adventures.
Tails spinattack Like Sonic, Tails can attack enemies by curling into a concussive ball or cutting disk and directing himself at his targets, allowing him to perform moves like the Spin Attack or the Rolling Combo.
Relationships Sonic the Hedgehog Tails carries Sonic Tails and Sonic
Sonic the Hedgehog is Tails' best friend and one who acts as an older brother figure to him. The two of them have been together for a long time, and, as such, have developed a close, brotherly bond. Though Tails tends to get annoyed by Sonic's recklessness and smugness, this does not truly hinder their bond. In fact, the very thought of losing Sonic is enough to greatly worry Tails, especially after he thought Sonic had been killed.

- #5Knuckles the Echidna
Keys: Main character good
Knuckles the Echidna is an anthropomorphic echidna, a friendly rival of Sonic the Hedgehog, the sole guardian of Angel Island and the Master Emerald, and the commander of the Resistance.
Appearance Knuckles is an anthropomorphic echidna with red fur that covers most of his body, peach skin on his muzzle, a white crescent-shaped patch of fur on his chest, and purple eyes. He also has seven dreadlock-like spines on his head and a medium-sized tail.
For attire, Knuckles wears red and yellow shoes, each with green cuffs and a grey, sextuple-bolted plate on top. He also wears white, mitten-like gloves with sock-like cuffs and two spiked knuckles on each hand. Both his gloves are quite large.
Personality Knuckles is a tough, wild, egotistical, and headstrong echidna. Serious and stubborn, Knuckles has no patience for stationary work, like paperwork, and prefers to be where the action is. However, he is an overall nice guy in normal conversations.
Knuckles is fiercely loyal to his homeland and prefers to stay there. As such, when anything bad befalls the island and its Master Emerald, Knuckles takes it very personally and blames himself for not being able to prevent it. He will also not rest or take it easy until he is sure that his island and its treasure are safe once more. Despite his ties to his home however, Knuckles is very heroic and is willing to leave his duty whenever his help is needed. When not performing his duties, Knuckles prefers spending his time going treasure hunting.
Knuckles is somewhat gruff and has an equally short temper. Combined with his heroic morals, he is quick to anger when witnessing villains' despicable behavior. However, he is not the sharpest tool in the shed and will willingly jump into a fight without thinking once about the consequences. Regardless, he is very strong-willed and will not give up on his goals once he has set them.
Abilities Knuckles defeats Death Egg Robot sentinel Knuckles finishing off a Death Egg Robot sentinel with his strength.
Knuckles possesses incredible strength, being as strong as Sonic is fast; with a single punch, he is able to pierce thick metal with ease. By stretching his arms and legs outwards while airborne, Knuckles can catch the air under his dreadlocks to ride on air, allowing him to glide through mid-air. Also, by using the spikes on his fists, Knuckles can scale any kind of surface with ease. He is also a great hand-to-hand combatant.
Being the guardian of the Master Emerald, Knuckles possesses a special link to the massive gem. As such, he can sense the Master Emerald's energies and will.

- #6Amy Rose
Keys: Main character good
Amy Rose is a longtime friend and self-proclaimed girlfriend of Sonic the Hedgehog. She is a pink anthropomorphic hedgehog who wields her large Piko Piko Hammer in combat. She is also the former organizer of the Resistance and the former leader of the Restoration.
Appearance Amy is a pink hedgehog with patches of peach skin on her muzzle and arms. Her outfit primarily consists of a red, sleeveless dress with white trim, and a pair of long red boots with a white stripe down the centre and white cuffs. Like most of the "animal" inhabitants of Sonic's world, she always wears gloves, though with the cuffs covered by a gold bracelet on each wrist. The spines on her head are typically worn down like that of ordinary hair, and is kept in place by a red hair hand, with the exception bangs hanging from between her ears.
Classic Amy is a pink hedgehog with patches of peach skin on her muzzle and arms. She wears a green shirt with a white collar, and a orange dress.
Personality A cheerful, optimistic and energetic go-getter, Amy is a determined young hedgehog who lets nothing stand in her way. She is girly and sweet, but also temperamental and has a hard time taking a "no" for an answer. She is best known for her long-standing crush on Sonic the Hedgehog, whom she would follow anywhere (if he let her). Like Sonic, she also sometimes find fun in fighting Badniks.
The time Amy spent in the Resistance has caused her to mature to a great degree. While still obsessed with Sonic and her crush on him, she has become more level-headed about it, being able to shake herself out of her moments of infatuation with him. She also has a strong sense of responsibility and duty, which is exemplified in her devotion to the Resistance's cause and her own role in maintaining the organization's stability, as well as when she turned down an offer to spend time with Sonic in favor of returning to her duties in the Resistance.
Abilities Amy attacks Death Crab Amy using the Piko Hammer to finish a Death Crab.
Amy has high physical strength, enough to wield her large Piko Hammer with ease and swing it around with enough force to send recipients flying through midair. She is also highly adept and knowledgeable in the usage of her Piko Piko Hammer: with it, she can make offensive spins (similar to a spinning top) and redirect midair projectiles with a single whack.
Amy's trademark weapon is the Piko Hammer, a large and powerful hammer capable of dealing massive damage with no excessive efforts. She mainly uses it as a melee weapon in combat, although she is also able to use it for devastating attacks when combining it with her natural gracefulness.
Physical abilities aside, Amy is a skilled strategist and organizer. It was thanks to these skills that the Resistance became the orderly organization it is. In little time she once also organized an ambush with an unfamiliar town's militia that successfully vanquished a Badnik horde, all while giving the civilians accurate instructions on how to evacuate the residents.
Amy uses the Pink Rose for her extreme gear. She also drives Pink Cabriolet.
Relationships Sonic the Hedgehog Amy admires Sonic Amy admiring Sonic.
Amy has had a long-standing crush on none other than Sonic the Hedgehog. As such, she is always happy to see him and would follow him everywhere if he let her. Even in the heat of battle, she cannot help but flirt with him. However, Sonic does not reciprocate her advances or affections, much to her eternal frustration. She also tends to get annoyed to Sonic's cheeky attitude and independent mindset, especially when it comes to his refusal to work with her and the Resistance.
Despite her constant turn-downs however, Amy keeps a tight friendship with Sonic. She also admires Sonic for his free-spirited and benevolent choice of lifestyle, and has admitted that, for all his shortcomings, she loves him just the way he is, and would not want to change him in any way. The two of them are also capable of playful banter in both tense and relaxed situations.

- #7Rouge the Bat
Keys: Main character good
Rouge the Bat (ルージュ・ザ・バット Rūju za Batto?) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. She is an anthropomorphic bat and jewel thief who has worked as a part-time government spy[11] for the President of the United Federation and in close association with the Guardian Units of Nations. A world-famous treasure hunter,[12] Rouge has a weakness for jewels, like the Master Emerald and Chaos Emeralds, which she always obsesses about. As a spy, Rouge is trained in combat, stealth and infiltration, and possesses both super-level kicking power and flight.
Rouge is in short, an enigma, as her motivations are always in question. In truth, she is usually just out for herself. She is incredibly smart, sassy, and seductive, and knows how to get what she wants. Once she has a target in mind, she always goes for it, regardless of the costs. Beneath her ditsy exterior though, she is a calculating realist and her motives are always mercenary in nature. Regardless, she is loyal to her closest friends and has more than once helped Sonic the Hedgehog and his allies save the world.
Appearance Rouge is an anthropomorphic bat with white fur, turquoise-green eyes with two large eyelashes on each one, tan skin and a curvy figure. She has large pointy ears, small fangs, a small black nose on her muzzle, a short pointy tail, and a pair of dark purple wings on her back. Only her head appears to have fur, which flares out into six points at the back. Rouge usually wears makeup consisting of powder-blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick.
For attire, Rouge wears a black bodysuit which includes a skin-tight and strapless low-cut unitard that sports a pink, heart-shaped chestplate outlined with thin white-trimming. She also wears elbow-length white gloves and thigh-high high-heeled boots with pink cuffs to match them, with the latter featuring both gray soles and heels, along with steel toes in the appearance of pink hearts, matching her leotard's chestplate.
Personality Rouge is an ideal spy able to be cunning, manipulative, deceitful, strategic, observational and tactful at the drop of a hat, such as when she delayed Shadow from finding Eggman and tipped off the Chaotix to Eggman's location, all to bring in Sonic to reign in Shadow and stop the situation getting too violent. This suggests a more compassionate side to her as well, or at least that she is not narrow-sighted or willing to act without a full story.
Between Shadow and Rouge, the latter is by far the more reasonable of the group and she knows it, willing to hear someone out instead of rushing into violence, though she's hardly one to ignore obvious red flags. She's also got a sense of humor, often at the expense of teasing her friends, and a disarmingly flirtatious nature.
She is also shown to put aside her greed at times to help others in need, such as when she aided the villagers hiding in the pyramid to keep Rough and Tumble from getting to them. Whether this was an act of genuine compassion or a means to an end of finding the pyramid's treasure faster is unknown though.
Despite her love for jewels, she took the gems in the mineral museum to prevent the Babylon Rogues stealing it, mentioning that at least she'll only have them for the moment.
Abilities Rouge is a super spy specializing in intelligence gathering, capable of flying at speed and strong enough to carry another creature similar to her own size at ease with just one hand. She is also a very competent combatant, often employing kicks with her powerful legs and personalized gadgetry such as her heart-emblazoned bombs.
- #8Doctor Eggman
Keys: Main character evil
Dr. Ivo Robotnik, also known more commonly by his nicknames Dr. Eggman and more simply Eggman, is an evil scientist and dictator who seeks to rule over the entire world. He is ever persistent in his quest for world domination despite his constant losses at the hands of his most hated enemy Sonic the Hedgehog and his allies. After losing the war between his Eggman Empire and the Resistance, Eggman had lost his memory and taken up residence in Windmill Village under the alias of Mr. Tinker, but has since regained his memories and returned to his old ways.
Appearance Dr. Eggman is depicted as a human with a rotund and burly appearance, his torso and head coming together in an egg-like shape. He possesses no visible neck, a bald head, a bright red nose, and a very bushy mahogany moustache. He also has long, almost disproportionately thin arms and legs.
Mr Tinker Eggman as “Mr. Tinker”.
For attire, Eggman wears tinted, navy blue pince-nez glasses and green-lensed goggles as headwear and an elegant, red coat sporting two square metal buttons on both sides of the chest in gold. These buttons have white straps that run across the coat's sides to identical buttons on the back. The coat also has silver, zipper-like linings down the back, arms and front, yellow cuffs, and two extensions on the front that have large silver buttons. In addition, Eggman also wears white, cuff-less gloves on his hands and a pair of black pants with matching boots seemingly attached to them bearing circular plates on the both sides of the ankles and three square ones riding up the shin.
After losing his memory and gaining the new alias "Mr. Tinker", Eggman began to wear green overalls, a pink shirt, and pink and green slippers.
Personality Dr. Eggman is an evil and megalomaniacal genius who is constantly planning to take over the world. Arrogant, raucous and narcissistic, he prefers to show up and claim responsibility whenever he is carrying out his villainous deeds and make himself known to his enemies after he comes back from a defeat; as put by Sonic, subtlety is not Eggman's forte.
As revealed by himself in Sonic the Hedgehog #26, when it comes to designing machines, he prefers to worry about making sure they look nice aesthetically, rather than making sure they work as intended.
As Mr. Tinker, Eggman displays a very different disposition, being a friendly, humble and modest man who loves children and helping others out. Mr. Tinker also displays a somewhat cowardly streak, being afraid of his own robots, although it does not keep him from helping and comforting the innocent.
Eggman is an impatient, short-tempered and deceitful self-proclaimed evil genius and megalomaniac, who is always trying to take over the world. His ambitions and vile influence extend to even his robot minions, some of which he has programmed to be deceitful and conquest-driven like himself. He is similarly extremely arrogant and conceited, to the point where he, as an example, deems heartfelt gifts made in his image for him to be inferior simply because they cannot match up to his own handsomeness. He is also rather violent, as he tends to use brute force to defeat his foes. However, he is also immature, usually resorting to pouting when having a bad day. As devoted as he is to conquering the world, Eggman can be a bit of a slouch, having built robots to handle more important tasks for him while he slacks off. He also tends to portray himself as an emotionally vulnerable man, like when he claimed his feelings got hurt when his robots turned on him, although he is quick to resort to anger when someone shows him no sympathy. Eggman is usually bold in his statements and standpoints. However, when he finds himself at a disadvantage, he is quick to give into peer pressure and physical threats. In addition, he takes great pride in himself and his creations, the latter in particular when when they surpass his expectations (even when it happens in a way he did not intend). When it comes to birthdays, and especially his own, Eggman finds them a waste of time and bunch of nonsense. He especially dislikes his own birthdays due to his Badniks' tendency to throw unwanted birthdays and how he never manages to accomplish anything noteworthy to mark the occasion.
Abilities Eggman is a brilliant scientist and inventor with seemingly limitless mastery over technology. His remarkable skills as an engineer and programmer are best evidenced by the armies of robots and mechs he has created for his numerous schemes. He is also an incredibly skilled pilot: able to manipulate many different kinds of his own mechs, robots, and vehicles in difficult battles with Sonic.
Eggman is also far more physically fit than his appearance lets on. It was mentioned by Rouge in Issue #12 that despite his paunch, Eggman has a strict cardio regimen. In Issue #50, Eggman also displays a rare show of physical strength after his mecha battle with Dr. Starline; he grabs Starline by the leg using one arm and lifts him up before slamming him into the ground.
He has been shown to carry a gun that he uses in the absence of a vehicle or any available robot.

As revealed by himself in Sonic the Hedgehog #26, when it comes to designing machines, he prefers to worry about making sure they look nice aesthetically, rather than making sure they work as intended.[13] Dr. Eggman once used to have a meticulous cardio regimen.[14] Classic Dr. Eggman's appearance is based on how he was portrayed in the original games, before he was given the modern look that debuted in Sonic Adventure, onwards.
- #9Sally Acorn
Keys: Main character good
Princess Sally Acorn is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. She is a mobian chipmunk, the daughter of King Nigel Acorn, and leader of the Freedom Fighters. Born as the heir to her father's throne, she was taken, as a child, to the sanctuary of Knothole Village in the Wood Zone by Rosie Woodchuck when her father was betrayed by his royal adviser, Dr. Eggman and led the Freedom Fighters on many field missions against the scientist when he took power after banishing the King to the Special Zone. After Nigel Acorn was rescued and resumed his role as king, Sally continued to lead the Freedom Fighters in the ongoing battle against the Eggman Empire.
Appearance Sally is a brown-furred mobian chipmunk with auburn hair that connects to the stripe going down her back and ending on her short tail. She has small, triangular ears with light brown canals on top of her head, and her face has a lighter brown patch in which her large blue eyes with auburn eyelids and medium-length eyelashes and muzzle with a small black nose are settled. Her clothing consists of black, skintight shorts with white rimming, azure knee-high boots with white cuffs, soles, and outlines on the buckles with dark blue details inside, and white gloves with her Ring-Blades. She wears a closed azure vest which exposes her midriff, and a tight, black, sleeveless crop-top with white trim underneath. Her tan-colored belly can be seen on her midriff. At night, she wears a cream nightgown covered with acorns and a pair of light blue slippers. A younger Sally wore an outfit inspired by her younger self from the Sonic the Hedgehog television series episode, "Blast to the Past, Part 1", though with the addition of white gloves. She has also been seen in white pajamas decorated with acorn designs with light blue slippers. When she was slightly older, she started wearing her hair (now shorter) in a ponytail, and sported an open blue vest with a collar, a black tube-top with a white trim underneath, black sports pants held up by a white belt with a golden buckle, and a pair of blue and white sneakers with black shoelaces, yellow stars, and gray soles.[6][7]
Personality Sally is strong-minded and very opinionated. She is often logical and focused and prefers to plan ahead in almost all situations, though she also has a playful side and sometimes makes jokes. She often takes the role of a leader, not only in directing and organizing people en masse but also through mediation and offering suggestions or compromises to difficult situations.
Despite being a princess, Sally is a bit of a "tomboy"; wearing casual, athletic clothes, not hesitating to get into rough or messy situations if needed, and acting as a fighter rather than a damsel-in-distress.
Sally is known to be kind but headstrong and has a tendency to put too much pressure on herself to react in the most wise way. She can be somewhat insecure at times, and should she think herself to have failed or misjudged a situation in the past, she will often have tremendous self-doubt in herself at the frustration of her perceived inability.
Sally's attitude towards her title of the princess of the Kingdom of Acorn is one of duty; she is a firm leader with a strong sense of justice and a warm heart, and loves her people and strives to do the best she can for them. She is very caring as well and shows passion, bravery and determination, often remaining undeterred by setbacks, and goes out of her way to make sure her friends are safe and happy. While inwardly compassionate, she can often come off as confrontational, overbearing, sardonic, and condescending when stifled enough. When her emotions are open, however, she is often only protective of her friends, constantly worried about their well-being in the field.
Powers and abilities Though possessing average physical strength, Sally is very agile and capable of acrobatic maneuvers. She also has proficiency in basic combat, weaponry skills, and hand-to-hand combat, and possesses high reflexes and self-defense abilities.
Sally is a natural leader and tactician, serving as the strategist and organizer of the Freedom Fighters, including coordinating her team's evacuation efforts of Station Square with noticeable results. She has a very logical mind, but has experienced enough that she readily accepts the mystical forces she encounters. However, her thought process does have its drawbacks, such as limiting her physical abilities in the Digital World to what she is capable of in the real world.

Sally wears a pair of bracelets around her gloves called the Ring-Blades which can project energy blades. These blades have enough durability to withstand Metal Sonic's claws, and can cut through highly solid substances such as metal alloys. Sally wields these energy blades with great proficiency in battle; in the Digital World, she could also conceive of them in other shapes such as a shield and sword.
Relationships Sonic the Hedgehog I missed you Sally Sally and Sonic reunited, from Sonic the Hedgehog #256.
Sally and Sonic the Hedgehog are friends and dependable allies. The two of them like to poke fun at each other in a purely platonic way, with Sally often commenting on Sonic's overbearing ego and tendency not to stick to her plans. Because Sally goes to great length to formulate a plan, she can get quite frustrated when Sonic starts doing his own thing in the middle of a mission. Nevertheless, they retain a dynamic friendship, although they do not share a romantic bond.[49]
Antoine D'Coolette Sally and Antoine D'Coolette are good friends. At a young age, Antoine fixed his affections on Princess Sally, finding her daring, smart, and beautiful. Thinking himself dashing, Antoine believed that they belonged together like in storybooks. Antoine even joined the Freedom Fighters in allegiance to Sally. Antoine tried courting her, though after a long time he came to realize that his advances were unwanted. Nonetheless, Sally has always considered Antoine as a friend and a trusted ally. In the present, Sally and Antoine are good friends, Antoine is loyal to Sally as his leader and follows her command with no second thought.

After Nicole started showing emotions and manifested into her holographic form, the two became much closer, to the point of becoming best friends. I was never lonely--never afraid... — Sally Acorn, Sonic the Hedgehog/Mega Man Free Comic Book Day 2014 Sally has a loving father-daughter relationship with her father, Nigel Acorn. When she was a child, he played with her often, and after Dr. Eggman took over Mobotropolis, Sally was heartbroken in not finding him. After the king was rescued, she was overjoyed, and so was him. Sally asked her father permission to travel the world with the Freedom Fighters on the Sky Patrol to fight Eggman, the king was very understanding and let his daughter go, knowing she could take care of herself. When he needs, the king calls Sally and sometimes the two have tea parties together with the other Freedom Fighters.

Rosie Woodchuck was Sally's nanny and tutor when she was a child. The two became very close, Rosie would often support Sally and advise her. When Dr. Eggman took over Mobotropolis, Rosie took Sally with her and they, along with other refugees, fled to Knothole Village. Rosie took full care of Sally and most of the Freedom Fighters (Tails and Bunnie in particular) and helped Sally deal with the grief.
Lupe the Wolf Lupe the Wolf became friends with Sally after she and the Freedom Fighters saved her village from Eggman years ago. Lupe was breaking down in tears because of the loss of her father, but Sally inspired her to fight back. To this day, Lupe is great friends with Sally and the other Freedom Fighters, and is still thankful to what they did to help her.

- #10Nicole the Holo-Lynx
Keys: Main character good
Nicole the Holo-Lynx is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. She is an artificial intelligence created by Dr. Ellidy which was entrusted to Sally Acorn as a portable hand-held computer and has since become both Sally's loyal friend and a trusted member of the Freedom Fighters. She is incredibly versatile and able to interact with and manipulate most machinery and computer systems due to her advanced technology and is capable of mental and emotional growth. Due to the latter, she has gradually become more and more lifelike in demeanor during her time interacting with the Freedom Fighters. With the help of a Power Ring, she is able to create a complex holographically simulated body-based on that of a mobian lynx projected from her hand-held.
Appearance As a computer unit, Nicole's design is slightly inconsistent. In general terms, her handheld is relatively compact, gray in color, and features a flip-top, a screen, two buttons and a small keypad. However, the number of keys, size and general positioning of the unit varies from artist to artist. The unit also has an attachable hook on the top screen where a Power Ring can be inserted.
Nicole's simulated body takes the form of a brown mobian lynx; the ends of her long triangular ears are black, and her face features cheek tufts on her muzzle and a stripe along the bridge of her black nose as well as one under each of her green eyes. She has medium-long black hair with splits at the ends that she wears down, and a tail. For attire, she wears a purple sleeveless dress with black and white split tails, decorated with a white trim and a small golden brooch with a purple gem. She also wears black pants, black and white gloves with purple cuffs, and black shoes that has white cuffs with a small golden brooch with a purple gem, white toes and black soles.
Personality Originally, Nicole's behavior was completely logic-orientated, with logic being the only motivation behind any decision, and she seemed lacking in autonomy.
As time went on though, Nicole became more lifelike, and currently possesses many of the traits of a living being which she is fully regarded as by her friends. She is friendly, helpful, and a loyal member of the Freedom Fighters, having helped her friends at her own risk more than once. She is also able to express concern and support for others, and feeling guilty at risking the mental stability of her friends when restoring their old memories, and is not without the ability to mock or express defiance.
Despite her experiences, Nicole is at times out of touch with the life-like side of herself, reverting to the more logical thought processes of a machine as she dismisses the illogical nature of magic and wishful thinking, and initially seeing the beautiful Crystal Cave as little more than a mineral deposit. Despite this, she is capable of appreciating beauty as she experiences the wonders of having an actual body, and of helping others in times of difficulty. In addition, Nicole has become somewhat philosophical, realizing how important it is to preserve the wonders of the world they are fighting for.
Nicole also seems to resent her previous emotionless self as she states to Dr. Ellidy that, while she can recall past memories, she does not like looking back to them as she now sees them in a whole new perspective.
Powers and abilities As a computer, Nicole possesses a variety of abilities. In her handheld form, she can interface with other mechanical systems, allowing her to access and download information or even provide the Freedom Fighters with control over various unfriendly technologies. She also possesses a genius-level intellect, as she can process information and possess knowledge far beyond the average person.
Nicole Fighting in Digital World Nicole's weapon in the Digital World, from Sonic Universe #71.
Nicole can project a small hologram of her lynx form from her hand-held. When fitted with a Power Ring, she can fully assume her lynx form, though it dissipates if the Power Ring runs out. In her holographic form, she has fully functional limbs and the use of several senses. While her hologram form is vulnerable to attack, no damage is incurred to Nicole so long as her handheld form remains unharmed. Nicole also is able to create barriers of an unknown greenish energy, which are strong enough to block laser fire.[16] In the Digital World, Nicole's abilities are expanded remarkably to the point she is capable of virtually anything she wishes, making her a fierce opponent. There, Nicole's powers are incredible, ranging from modifying and controlling existing virtual structures to creating new material, such as weapons-she seems to favor a pitchfork-like implement.[2] She is also capable of producing digital energy blasts and creating firewalls, though her strength is not unlimited.
When reality was reshaped, Nicole somehow absorbed residual energy from the Super Genesis Wave, which severely compromised her systems. However, contact with her computer body allowed inhabitants of the altered reality to regain their memories of the unaltered world (except for Sonic), though the process would be mentally overwhelming and even threaten other's mental stability. Once all the leftover Genesis Wave energy had been spent, she lost this ability.[6][10]

- #11Badniks
Keys: Enemy robots
The Badniks[2] (バドニック[3] Badonikku?), also known as Doctor Eggman's robots[4] (エッグマンのロボット Egguman no robotto?), are a group that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are an army of mass-produced military robots created by Dr. Eggman, first deployed during the South Island incident. From there onwards, the Badniks have become the doctor's most numerous army, as well as some of his greatest creations.[5]
The term "Badnik" is largely exclusive to English-language media related to the series, as Japanese works largely use "Eggman's robots" instead; the very few uses of the term "Badnik" in Japanese media have solely been in translations of works originally written in English.
Description Sonic 2 art Eggman and Badniks Various Badniks from the West Side Island incident, with the Egg Mobile at the center, from Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
The Eggman Empire is your friend. We are committed to sustainable choices, including keeping critters safe by putting them in robots. — Dr. Eggman, Sonic Dream Team While Badniks do not have a standard design, they are generally around the height of Sonic, though there are larger and smaller[6] models too. Most Badniks are based off of a specific theme, such as animals, insects, plants, Dr. Eggman himself, or more "interpretive" things.[2] These robots are also divided in the purpose they are designed to serve in combat, such as reconnaissance[7] and shooting;[8][9] and are prepared for specific environments such as cold areas[10] and deserts.[11] The earliest Badnik models, which appeared before the Chaos incident, are armies with impeccable designs that can perform their tasks flawlessly.[5] There are more advanced robots, such as the Metal Fighters, who can rival Sonic's speed; and the E-Series, the most produced series of Badniks that were created to advance weaponry.[5][12]
Many Badnik models have a power source inside of them, most commonly Animals, which are placed at the center of the robot.[8] The way this works is that the Badnik extracts bioenergy[8][9] from the Animal and use it as a basis for its AI.[13] Other power sources, such as Little Planet flower seeds, Power Cores, Rings, Chaos Drives, Light Cores, or Nightmare Fuel have been used with a similar purpose as well. When a Badnik is destroyed, the power source inside of it is liberated. However, most of the more advanced Badniks, and sometimes the weaker ones as well, are empty and do not release anything when destroyed.

Transformation 101. Bunnies to Badniks. Boom! Instant army. It needs to be a big army if I'm taking over the world below. — Dr. Eggman, Sonic Lost World The method of putting Animals into Badniks was shown during the Lost Hex incident, which consists of moving the captured Animals from Capsules and setting them into Badniks. A similar process, known as robotomy, was used at least once, during the War to Take Back the Planet. Here, organic beings are incorporated into the Badniks in a manner more insidious than being used as living batteries. In the final result, the subjects have constructed Badnik bodies with built-in equipment such as guns; for example, a purple caterpillar who is subjected to this treatment will be mechanized into a Caterkiller. Organisms that undergo robotomy are noted to be completely stripped of the ability to think, converting them into essentially mindless Badnik drones.[14] It is not known how much of the original organisms remains once this process is complete.
Most Badnik models are very fragile and weak, and a few attacks, such as a Spin Attack, are enough to destroy them. Despite this, there have been more powerful Badniks that have been created over the years that either take multiple hits to destroy, or are nearly indestructible from most standard attacks. Despite being created as combat drones, most Badniks do appear to possess some degree of sentience, as they can express basic emotions such as stress[15][16] or excitement.[17] Additionally, the Badniks are also capable of doing stuff under their own free will (even when they are not commanded or programmed to do so), such as celebrating Dr. Eggman's birthday every year on their own volition,[18] or creating sand castles just for fun.[19] Despite having sentience, most Badniks are still limited into carrying out basic tasks such as trying to kill Sonic.[20] Despite this, there have been a select few Badniks created with more advanced AI compared to most standard Badniks, allowing them to feel more complex emotions and even being able to form genuine bonds with other people beyond just Dr. Eggman himself.

- #12Orbot
Keys: Main character henchman robot
Orbot (オーボット Ōbotto?) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a robot built by Dr. Eggman. One of Eggman's aide robots,[3] Orbot mainly assists the doctor in his schemes for world domination and makes sure his plans are carried out correctly, with his partner Cubot working alongside him to perform various duties.[4] Serious and intelligent, Orbot is loyal to Eggman. However, he does not like him very much, and his spiteful sarcasm sometimes provokes the anger of his creator.[3][4]
Appearance Orbot is a diminutive robot with a round head composed of a semi-spherical cap with a smaller black semi-sphere under it for a lower face. His lower face can separate to reveal a cover, representing his mouth, and he has two gray-framed and pupil-less eyes. He has also a ball joint for a chest and red gloves for hands. His arms and back consist each of two thin bars that are joined by a ball joint. His lower body is a small semi-sphere with a gray inside and a ball joint connecting it to his back.
Orbot has a red head cap and light blue eyes and mouth, while the rest of him is black and gray with a few red joints.
Personality ShadowGenerationsOrbotBio Orbot's profile, from Shadow Generations.
Orbot is a highly intelligent, serious, and level-headed robot.[3] From the start, he has shown an eye for efficiency, taking close notice of Eggman's flaws or awry plans. He is as well rather sassy and shows a sense of spiteful sarcasm,[3] voicing facts and opinions as he sees fit, whether it is offering unsolicited, withering assessments of his master or asking a mourning Sonic if he could become the hedgehog's sidekick. As such, he comes off as straightforward, insensitive, and brash. However, he does not mean anything by it, and behaves mainly as such to give constructive criticism and approach subjects matter-of-factly.[8]
Orbot's personality is, in comparison to his supposed prototype, jaded and refined, giving him a wide spectrum of emotions and a polished demeanor, which goes along with his smooth surface. As such, while sassy and sarcastic like his predecessor, he is more legal in his approaches and goes about them in a more diplomatic way. He, therefore, speaks calmly and formally, yet without a filter, and is more honest to a fault than outright rude.
LazyOrbot Orbot slacking off, from the Wii version of Sonic Colors.
Orbot is a devoted follower, although not necessarily out of personal preference.[3][4] Also, while he takes his job seriously,[3] he tends to slack off when possible and cut corners when working. When slacking off, Orbot has a habit of resting on his side and holding his head up with one arm.
In the IDW Comics, Orbot acts similar to how he does in the games. Unlike many of Eggman's robots, he is not a mindless drone and possesses both a personality and emotions of his own. Orbot is one who looks at the bright side of things, especially for the sake of his boss when he is in a foul mood.[9] He is also shown to be lazy.[10][11]
Orbot possesses a sense of spiteful sarcasm, and likes to rebuke Eggman about his previous failures, having once asked Eggman if he wanted to review "a list of eldritch creatures [he'd] like to resurrect and then lose control over", which is a clear reference to the doctor's past failures in this field.[12]
By his own admission, Orbot appears to suffer from anxiety. As such, he needs to take some time off for reassuring activities, such as arranging cables in alphabetical order.[13] He is also smarter and more perceptive than Cubot, whom he has to explain some things to.
Powers and abilities Cubot compact form Orbot's retracted state, from the Wii version of Sonic Colors.
Orbot has the ability to retract his body into a travel-sized sphere. While in this state, he is fully capable of movements.
Orbot is able to levitate and can move freely through midair. However, he is not able to levitate any higher than a few meters above the ground and he requires a solid surface below him to float, meaning he will fall down if the footing below him is removed.[14] He also has special skills in data analysis and cleaning.[3]
Orbot has the ability to retract his body into a travel-sized sphere. While in this state, he is fully capable of movements. He is also able to levitate and can move freely through midair.[12]
Relationships Dr. Eggman Orbot is the aide robot and number one flunky of his creator/boss, Dr. Eggman.[15] Although Orbot obeys Eggman faithfully and shows concerns about his well-being, he really does not like him very much.[4] While Orbot generally assists Eggman's with his more delicate operations, he often makes spiteful sarcastic remarks for pointing out general flaws in Eggman's plans which sometimes angers the doctor,[3] prompting a quick smack in return.
Orbot is constantly bothered by Eggman's attitude and receives worse treatment from him than from enemies like Sonic and Tails.[16] As such, he agrees that Eggman is a "total bonehead". However, he is still capable of acknowledging Eggman; during the Infinite incident, he noted that his master meant business after hearing him gloat about his impending success in conquering the world and defeating Sonic.
Orbot will occasionally laugh at Eggman's misfortune and would early on insult him openly with sarcastic remarks. Additionally, he considers working for Sonic a better alternative than working for Eggman. Regardless of his dislike of Eggman, Orbot is very much afraid of his master's wrath and will try to not overstep his boundaries.
As one of his aide robots, Orbot obediently follows Eggman's every order, although he does so more out of fear of Eggman's wrath.[17] In addition, while Orbot is loyal towards Dr. Eggman and waits on him hand and foot, he does not like him very much, especially when the doctor preys upon his emotions and verbally abuses him with threats of dismantling him.[18] Orbot also serves Eggman as one of his head assistants on some of his projects, although he mainly cooks, cleans and make coffee for him.[17][19][20] Orbot also sometimes likes to spite Eggman with sarcasm about his past failures.[18]
During the time Eggman suffered from amnesia and became a reformed handyman, Orbot was surprised by Eggman's kindness and compassion, and was unsure if he wanted the real Dr. Eggman back. He likewise expressed disappointment when Eggman got back to normal.[18]
Cubot Orbot and Cubot - Sonic Colors Intro 2 Orbot and Cubot, from the Wii version of Sonic Colors.
Cubot is Orbot's partner in the service of Dr. Eggman and the two are an inseparable pair. By comparison, Orbot is the straight man to Cubot's comic relief.[3]
In general, Orbot is not fond of Cubot's idiocy and considers him a dimwit, having expressed what a "nightmare" it was for him having Cubot's head attached to him. When they work together, Orbot usually lets Cubot do all the work while he slacks off. Also, while having to carry around Cubot's head in Sonic Lost World, he would mostly fumble around with it for his amusement. Despite all this, however, Orbot has a good relationship with Cubot and he considers him a close friend of his. Whenever Cubot regains his normal voice, Orbot will be very happy about his recovery, and when he once believed Cubot to be destroyed, Orbot showed genuine sadness over it.
Orbot is not above beating up Cubot for any failures, as shortly before retreating with Eggman from Metropolis during the War to Take Back the Planet, he was seen approaching Cubot and smacking him upside the head when he fell behind.
Due to Cubot being the less bright member of this pair, Orbot often has to explain certain things to him or keep him from revealing sensitive information to their enemies.[21]
Sonic the Hedgehog Orbot wants to be Sonic's sidekick Orbot asking Sonic if he can become his sidekick, from the Wii U version of Sonic Lost World.
Though they are supposed to be enemies, Orbot does not really hold any personal hostility towards Sonic the Hedgehog besides his obligation to stop him. In fact, Orbot admires Sonic for his devotion to his friends, which makes him wish to work for him;[8] after Tails was captured by the Deadly Six, Orbot asked Sonic if he could become his sidekick in the case he could not save Tails as he considered working for him a better alternative than Eggman.[8]

Keys: Main character henchman robot
Cubot (キューボット Kyūbotto?) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a robot built by Dr. Eggman. One of Eggman's aide robots,[1] Cubot mainly assists the doctor in his schemes for world domination, with his partner Orbot working alongside him to perform various duties.[2] While loyal to Eggman, Cubot is dim-witted and lazy. He also has a faulty voice chip which causes him to randomly switch between different accents and personalities for a moment,[1] though after the slapping by Orbot during the Wisp incident, Cubot seems to gain full control of it and can change it the way he wants.[3]
Appearance Cubot is a diminutive robot, but slightly taller than Orbot. He has a black square head with a flattened, yet wider yellow square cap on top and a larger black square on the bottom, the latter of which resembles a jaw. His jaw can separate from his head to reveal a light blue cover resembling a mouth. He also has two gray-framed and pupil-less light blue eyes. His chest consists of a smaller yellow cube, and he has yellow gloves for hands. His arms and back consist each of two thin gray bars that are joined by a black and yellow ball joint. His lower body is a black open cube with a gray inside and a ball joint connecting it to his back.
Personality ShadowGenerationsCubotBio Cubot's profile, from Shadow Generations.
Cubot is a good-hearted and easygoing robot.[1] Even though he is supposed to be built with the same CPU as Orbot's, he is somehow dim-witted and somewhat slow on the uptake;[1] he has no concept of sarcasm (as evidenced by his reaction when Eggman flippantly told them, after Orbot asked if he wanted the remaining Wisps, that Eggman actually wanted them to go fetch him "a cheeseburger and a shake") and even when things are explained specifically to him, it takes a while for him to catch on.
While still a competent henchman, Cubot is talkative, not very serious, and generally annoying to those around him. Also, despite his devotion to his master, Cubot is lazy.[2] Unwilling to take action until he is scolded, he actively tries to get out of doing any work.[1][2]
Cubot's personality can be affected by whatever accent his voice chip is currently set to, causing him to adopt mannerisms and behavior associated with his accent.[1]
Unlike many of Eggman's robots, he is not a mindless drone and possesses both a personality and emotions of his own. Described as a "dumb bot", Cubot is not especially bright.[6] As such, he tends to do rather dim-witted things, like getting easily rattled by terrifying subjects, playing with an enemy, or making himself a prime target for abuse in an attempt to help.[6][7][8] He similarly also easily falls victim to reverse psychology.[9]
Powers and abilities Cubots compact form Cubot's retracted state, from the Wii version of Sonic Colors.
Cubot has the ability to retract his body into a travel-sized cube. While in this state, he is fully capable of movement. While uncurled, he is also able to twist his neck 360 degrees.
Cubot is able to levitate and can move freely through midair. However, he is not able to levitate any higher than a few meters above the ground. He is also capable of projecting holographic videos and displays from his eyes.[10] As shown during the Lost Hex incident, his head also has the ability to operate independently from the rest of his body. Most notably however, Cubot possesses a special skill that lets him change both his personality and accent depending on the voice chip currently inserted into him,[1] although certain types of physical contact can yield the same effect.
Cubot has the ability to retract his body into a travel-sized cube.[11] He is also able to levitate and can move freely through midair.[6] He also has skills in cleaning.[12]
Relationships Dr. Eggman In contrast to Orbot's dislike of their creator and boss, Cubot likes and admires Dr. Eggman.[1][2] Despite getting nothing but mistreatment and abuse from Eggman in return for his services, Cubot has remained genuinely faithful and honest towards him. However, it has been hinted that Cubot has a hard time grasping the fact that Eggman is his boss, prompting him to forget who he is talking to.[13]
Despite his preference for Eggman, Cubot's laziness puts him at odds with his master. As such, Cubot often ends up upsetting Eggman.[1] Similarly, Cubot constantly annoys Eggman with his idiocy and voice chip issues. Also, while he might not understand the consequences of upsetting Eggman, Cubot is very much fearful of his wrath.
One of his aide robots, Cubot obediently follows Eggman's every order, although he is quite fearful of Eggman's wrath.[14] In addition, while Orbot is loyal towards Dr. Eggman and waits on him hand and foot, the doctor tends to prey upon his emotions and verbally abuses him with threats of dismantling him.[8] Cubot also serves Eggman as one of his head assistants on some of his projects, although he mainly cooks, cleans and make coffee for him.[14][9][15]
Orbot Orbot and Cubot - Sonic Colors Intro 2 Orbot and Cubot, from the Wii version of Sonic Colors.
Orbot is Cubot's partner in the service of Dr. Eggman and the two are an inseparable pair. By comparison, Cubot is the comic relief to Orbot's straight man.[1]
Like Eggman, Cubot's dimwitted behavior does not sit well with Orbot, who mentioned during the Lost Hex incident that having Cubot attached to his body during the escapade was like a nightmare. When the duo work together, Orbot usually lets Cubot do all the work while he slacks off, normally without Cubot noticing it. During his time as a disembodied head, Cubot would also be fumbled around by Orbot for his amusement. Despite everything he has to put up with him though, Cubot is not bothered by Orbot at all and has often referred to him as a close friend of his, a feeling which Orbot ultimately reciprocates.
Due to Cubot being the less bright member of this pair, Orbot often has to explain certain things to him or keep him from revealing sensitive information to their enemies.[9]

- #14Shadow the Hedgehog
Keys: Main character good
Shadow the Hedgehog is an anthropomorphic black and red hedgehog, and a former adversary of Sonic the Hedgehog turned rival. Shadow is the "Ultimate Life Form" (究極生命体 Kyūkyoku Seimeitai?), created aboard the Space Colony ARK over fifty years ago by Professor Gerald Robotnik. He is the final result of Project Shadow, a government experiment that was only completed by infusing Shadow with the DNA of the alien Black Doom. After his birth, Shadow befriended Gerald's granddaughter, Maria. However, the Guardian Units of Nations (G.U.N.) deemed the project a threat and raided the ARK, resulting in the captures of Shadow and Gerald, and the death of Maria. Driven to madness, Gerald altered Shadow's memories to one day seek revenge. Shadow remained in stasis for decades until he was freed by Gerald's grandson, Doctor Eggman. Fueled by vengeance, Shadow fought Sonic and friends until his true memories of Maria returned, inspiring him to save the world from Gerald's doomsday plot. However, Shadow fell to Earth and lost his memories in the process. Shadow would only learn the truth of his existence once he faced the Black Arms invasion of Earth. He has fought for Maria's wish of peace ever since, acting as a dark hero who protects the Earth and its inhabitants.
Appearance Shadow is a black-furred anthropomorphic hedgehog. He has red eyes, a patch of white fur on his chest, a black nose, a tan muzzle, and small, triangular ears with tan canals. He also has six quills on his head, four of which curve upwards while the other two curve downwards, two spines on his back, and a short, pointy tail. He has red stripes on each of his head quills, around the edges of his eyes, and on his arms and legs. For attire, Shadow wears white gloves with black cuffs and red tongues, and Air Shoes which, like his gloves, have black cuffs and red tongues. Shadow also wears Limiter Rings, one on each of his wrists and ankles.
Personality Best summarized as a grim anti-hero, Shadow has a strong sense of purpose, practically to the point of stubbornness, and pursues his goals by any means necessary with a willingness to do whatever it takes to get what he wants, being willing to go as far as to take another person's life to ensure others' safety. This natural vehemence tends to make him launch himself into situations without fully thinking them through.
Extremely sharp-witted, Shadow is brooding and always seems to be on the edge, and he usually acts with a cool and businesslike indifference. He is normally quiet and will not speak unless it is necessary to achieving his goals. When push comes to shove, however, Shadow can quickly become extremely aggressive and extensively ruthless. He is also not one to pull his punches for anyone, especially against those who get in his way.
Despite his apathetic nature, Shadow is not completely heartless, although he tries to bury such feelings and thoughts inside of him. For example, when out to kill a seemingly reformed Dr. Eggman, Shadow ultimately choose to give the doctor a chance to prove his benevolence after being reminded of how he himself had turned over a new leaf after trying to destroy Sonic and the world at large, just like Eggman.
Powers and abilities Sonic v Shadow Boss ARK Race Shadow matching Sonic in abilities, from the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. Said to be Sonic's equal in almost every ability,[53][54][55] Shadow can easily rival the blue hedgehog's various physical skills.[56][57][58] His abilities and skills in combat are an extremely powerful force to be reckoned with, and he is a match for even the most powerful foes in the series. He similarly never willingly holds back his immense strength, making him a brutal fighter. On his own, Shadow has been able to take down G.U.N.'s various combat mechs, Dr. Eggman's battle robots, Black Doom and his empowered state, and even deities. To best put his skills into perspective, Shadow was capable of defeating even Sonic while he had Diablon for support, as seen in some of the scenarios during the Black Arms incident. He even managed to best Emerl in combat after the latter had acquired all seven Chaos Emeralds as a power source[59] (although Emerl quickly surpassed him afterward). Like many of his associates, Shadow is able to move at super speed. Said to possess "ultimate speed,"[60] Shadow is able to match the speeds reached by Sonic,[56][57][58][61] who is able to reach light speed. Although Shadow's Air Shoes have been credited as the source of his speed,[62][63] his powerful body allows him to easily rival Sonic's world class speed as well.[64] Due to such speed, he can scale vertical surfaces and ceilings, out-speed bullets, and attack faster than the eye can see.[65] Even then, Shadow can take his speed further; by enveloping himself in an orange energy field, he can accelerate beyond the sound barrier on both the ground and in midair for a short time, allowing him to not only smash straight through enemies and obstacles like a living projectile, but also fly immense distances through midair. Using certain techniques, he can even achieve light-speed momentarily. While there are some inconsistencies about how fast Shadow is compared to Sonic, it is usually stated that they are complete equals.[53][57] Shadow has demonstrated complete mastery of his speed in any environment. Not only can he run at maximum tilt in straight lines, but also in full tight circles and through sharp turns with full control over his momentum. As far as stamina goes, Shadow's is seemingly limitless as he is never winded from running. His speed also allows him to perform several impressive feats, like spinning in circles or rotating his extremities at super speed to create winds strong enough to attack or blow away/suck in opponents, similar to aerokinesis.
An experienced athlete[66] that shares Sonic's agility,[57] Shadow has outstanding acrobatic skills and nimbleness, along with incredible reflexes that let him avoid any incoming obstacles with precise and delicate movements within split-seconds, grind expertly on Grind Rails, dodge bullets,[65] and perform various strafe movements. When launched into the air, he can also pull off several tricks before landing. Using the Light Speed Dash, he is able to dash across a trail of rings at super speed, further strengthening his maneuverability. Shadow also has superhuman strength, enough to match Sonic in power;[56] with effort,[67] he can overturn objects many times his weight and size such as trucks, buses and large slabs of concrete with one hand. In addition, Shadow possesses astounding kineticism, precision and has reaction time to match his speed. Shadow also has an incredible resilience to damage as he can take lots of major punishment before he goes down for the count. Notably, he is completely bulletproof[68] and even withstood atmospheric entry at the end of the Space Colony ARK incident (the latter which only left him with amnesia[69]). Even when he takes damage though, he is able to recover rather fast.[70] Owning to his "ultimate life form" physiology, Shadow possesses an immortal body, meaning he does not age and cannot be killed.[58][71][72] Being created as a cure, Shadow has a natural resistance to disease and was able to maintain contact with the Zombot virus for an extended period of time before getting infected. Furthermore, as seen during the Black Arms incident, due to being partly Black Arms, Shadow has a connection to the Black Arms' hive-mind, allowing him to sense his kind's presence and be immune to the Black Arms' body-paralyzing nerve gas.[73] According to E-123 Omega, since the Black Arms are able to turn their body into weaponry, Shadow should theoretically be able to turn his hand into a gun.[74] Shadow also possesses an indomitable will and determination. His absolute refusal to give up in any situation and resolve to see his goals through to the end allows him to keep on persevering even in seemingly impossible situations. His enormous will even let him psychologically resist mind control powers; notably, Shadow was able to regain control of his body from Black Doom despite him being part Black Arms and therefore susceptible to Black Doom's mind control.[75] Shadow is naturally able to tap into the arcane powers of nearby Chaos Emeralds, either through physical contact or from a distance,[76][77] to empower himself and access different chaos powers. According to Shadow himself, he is the only one who knows how to use the Chaos Emeralds' true power.[78] His trademark ability in the field of chaos powers is Chaos Control, a technique achieved with the Chaos Emeralds that lets him warp time and space for various effects.[58][79] With this technique giving him control over time and space,[80] Shadow is able to warp himself and those close by across space instantaneously[81] over a range further than an island-annihilating explosion or between dimensions, slow down or freeze time entirely,[81][82] and create areas of distorted space.[83] Shadow is noticeably adept in using Chaos Control for anything between large-scale usages to small-scaled and delicate chaos powers inside and outside of combat. He can for example use it to either freeze or slow down opponents in time to give himself the speed advantage,[80] launch surprise attacks by suddenly warping up in front or behind opponents,[68] distort space around his fists for strikes that can blow opponents away, hide himself away in distorted space, attack foes with spots of distorted space, and even power his own healing abilities and guarding skills. However, Shadow cannot perform Chaos Control if he does not have any Chaos Emeralds to draw power from.[84]
Beside Chaos Control, Shadow is able to use a number of additional chaos powers. One of these chaos powers include his Chaos Spear technique, in which he throws up to several bolts of Chaos Emerald energy at his opponent that can either paralyze or injure an opponent, depending on its power level. Shadow's most powerful technique, however, is the Chaos Blast, a chaos power where he releases a discharge of Chaos Emerald energy in a massive explosion that eliminates everything within a range of 10-20 yards.[82]
One of Shadow's main offensive maneuvers is the Spin Attack, a technique where he curls into a concussive ball or cutting disk and directs himself at his targets. With it, Shadow can shred or burrow through just about any substance given enough speed. Highly adept in its usage, Shadow can utilize several variants of the Spin Attack for both grounded and aerial maneuvers, including the Spin Dash, Spin Jump, Double Jump, Homing Attack, Air Dash, Somersault, Dark Spin Dash and the Light Speed Attack, which attacks at the speed of light.
Even without his Spin Attack, Shadow is a powerful hand-to-hand combatant. In line with his nature and potent abilities, Shadow uses a fighting style where he utilizes strong blows, such as powerful chops, flying kicks, sideways kicks, high spin kicks, reverse spin kicks, downward dive kicks, or just barrages of punches and kicks. In addition, many of Shadow's stronger hand-to-hand combat moves revolves heavily around his usage of Chaos Control for space distortion effects to knock opponents away and his Air Shoes' exhaust for burning opponents.
Shadow is an effective combat strategist, able to make split second calculations or adjustments to succeed in battle. His strategies can range from creative uses of his environment, manipulating his opponent's shortcomings, and outmaneuvering enemies.
As shown during Dodon Pa's first and second Grand Prix, Shadow also has excellent skills when it comes to driving and racing in race cars like the Dark Reaper. Even during second EX World Grand Prix, Shadow is talented with an his Extreme Gear (Darkness and Black Shot). During the tournament, he was able to put up quite a fight and even defeat some of the world's best Extreme Gear riders. When riding on an Extreme Gear, Shadow is skillful enough to ride on Grind Rails, execute complex tricks while in midair, and perform chaos powers and combat moves with ease.
Shadow also has extraordinary skill when it comes to driving or piloting all forms of vehicles. Not only is he one of the best race car drivers in the universe with the Dark Reaper, but he is also able to perfectly operate weaponized buggies, armed motorcycles, modified gliders, hover crafts with machine guns, bipedal mechs and alien devices. Shadow is as well an expert gunner, capable of using weaponry like the G.U.N. Lifts and G.U.N. turrets with perfect accuracy. Also, whereas Sonic dismisses firearms, Shadow is not above using such weaponry, and has demonstrates proficient skills in a very wide range of weapons during the Black Arms incident, such as close combat weapons, guns, cannons, lock-on weapons and lasers. Shadow may also have some knowledge about machinery, having once been able to fiddle with a deactivated Omega and deduce he was in standby mode.[85] A miscellaneous ability Shadow has demonstrated as well is telekinesis, which is potent enough to let him move an Extreme Gear around with his mind with ease.[86] As powerful as he is, Shadow is able to make himself stronger up tapping into an even greater power within himself. This power is so potent that should he remove his Limiter Rings, he becomes a walking dynamo of raw power. Eggman compares the overall output of the resulting energy from the rings' removal to that of a raging furnace in his log.[87] When unleashing this power, he releases such tremendous amounts of energy that it forms an impenetrable barrier around himself.[88] While in this state, Shadow gains increased strength and speed,[89] enough to overpower hundreds of clones of Mephiles the Dark at once.[88] However, using his full power tires him out more quickly.[89]
Shadow is an extremely powerful individual and combatant, capable of going toe-to-toe with and sometimes even overwhelming Sonic in fierce combat. He boasts superb agility and reflexes to match his rocket skate-induced speed, allowing him to act accordingly to even Sonic's split-second movements. Like Sonic, he can perform the Spin Attack, a technique where he curls into a concussive ball or cutting disk and directs himself at his targets. With it, Shadow can shred or burrow through just about any substance given enough speed.[90] Likewise, although he can only keep up with Sonic's level of super speed using his rocket skates, he is still faster than the average person, enough to chase after a speeding truck.[91]
In addition, Shadow commands a number of Chaos Powers. He can warp space and time with Chaos Control, which allows him to teleport himself and, with the help of a Chaos Emeralds, he can teleport others instantaneously over wide distances at will. Chaos Control can alternatively be used to stop time temporarily. Shadow can also form spears out of green energy called Chaos Spears that he can either throw at opponents or wield as a solid melee weapon.[92][93][90][94] When Shadow attacked Eggperial City, he was able to manipulate the Giant Fake Chaos Emeralds to create a tower of them and to trap Eggman's central tower.[95] Shadow has impressive hand-to-hand combat skills as well, being able to utilize a mix of brutal punches and kicks, as he was able to beat up even Neo Metal Sonic, albeit with a surprise attack.[92]
Equipment Shadow wears a pair of specialized shoes called Air Shoes. These footwear are the primary source of Shadow's speed,[62] producing small jet streams that let him hover-skate at speeds supposedly even surpassing Sonic's speed.[96] Alternatively, Shadow can use his Air Shoes' exhausts to attack opponents with fire, empower his jumps, or achieve midair hovering.
Shadow wears four Limiter Rings, one on each of his wrists and ankles, that limit the amount of power he uses during combat and other situations. By removing them, Shadow is able to utilize his full power.
During the Black Arms incident, Shadow made use of a vast selection of weaponry. This included anything from close combat weapons like Survival Knives and Black Swords; guns like Pistols and Sub-Machine Guns; cannons like Bazookas and Grenade Launchers; lock-ons like 8-Shot RPGs and Worm Shooters; to lasers like Laser Rifles and Refractors.
Shadow wears a pair of specialized shoes. These footwear are the primary source of Shadow's speed, producing small jet streams that lets him hover-skate at speeds rivaling Sonic's supersonic running speed.[97][98] Alternatively, Shadow can use his rocket skates to produce fire to attack opponents with or achieve midair hovering.[99][100]
Transformations By harnessing the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds, Shadow can enter a Super State, transforming him into Super Shadow. In this state, all of Shadow's abilities far surpass his normal ones and his chaos powers are increased to their full limit. He is also able to fly and is nearly invulnerable. Initially, Shadow found it difficult to stay in this state due to inexperience,[101][102] but he has since mastered it. In addition, this transformation consumes a lot of energy, meaning it cannot be maintained for long.
Hero Shadow/Dark Shadow When his mind is fueled by thoughts of justice, Shadow is able to attain an enhanced state known as Hero Shadow.[103][104] In this state, Shadow is temporarily invincible and can perform a large-scale use of Chaos Control. However, this state only lasts for a short period of time. When his mind is fueled by thoughts of evil, Shadow is able to attain an enhanced state known as Dark Shadow.[103][104] In this state, Shadow is temporarily invincible and can perform a large scale-use of Chaos Blast. However, this state only lasts for a short period of time.
Weaknesses Shadow takes extreme measures to achieve his goals.[4]
During the time he had amnesia, Shadow was initially a somewhat easy target for manipulation due to his confusion about who he was and his eagerness to learn anything more about his past. Dr. Eggman could deceive him with lies about his past and Black Doom could subtly manipulate him using visions. However, after learning of his true purpose, Shadow is no longer as easily deceived.
Being part of the Black Arms, Shadow is partially an extension of Black Doom, making him vulnerable to mind control exerted by Black Doom himself. However, Shadow can fight this influence through sheer resolve and willpower.
Despite his immortality, Shadow can be knocked down if taken off-guard. Most noticeably, this will leave him unable to walk and speak immediately after the attack.[105] Though he can still fight later on, this will risk his life if he pushes himself too far,[106] and it takes him several days to fully recover.
Shadow when his Limiter Rings are taken off, if he uses all his energy, it can lead in into him over-exerting himself allowing him to be defeated easily from exhausting him.[87]
While Shadow has no known physical weaknesses, his rash and headstrong nature has caused him to fall to dire situations before; even though Sonic had told him he could similarly counter his infection with his speed, Shadow, misinterpreting it as meaning to retreat, refused to break away from fighting the Zombots. Also, despite the fact that his immune system is indeed more powerful than many others and cannot leave him sick from any known diseases, it is not immune to everything as he still got infected by the Metal Virus, albeit in a more delayed response compared to other people.[107]
- #15Blaze the Catconstant
Keys: Main character good
Blaze the Cat (ブレイズ・ザ・キャット Bureizu za Kyatto?) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. She is an anthropomorphic cat from earth in the Sol Dimension, where she is both the imperial princess[8][9] of the Sol Empire who has the right to inherit the throne,[8] and the appointed guardian of the Sol Emeralds, a role similar to that of Sonic and Knuckles combined[10] and that of a shrine maiden, although she appears too busy for such an admirable position as the latter.[8] Despite being in a position of considerable power, Blaze tends to escape her castle and act rather freely and independently.[8] As her name suggests, she is gifted with the power of pyrokinesis, which lets her create and manipulate fire in any way she pleases. Possibly due to her sheer strength, Blaze often acts without her royal guards to protect her.[8] Blaze is normally calm and elegant but tends to conceal her true feelings. Devoted to her position, she sometimes gets herself bogged down by her own strict discipline, which made her anti-social, shy, and unfamiliar with the concept of having friends. After spending time with Amy and Cream and meeting Sonic however, Blaze has discovered the true meaning of friendship, allowing her to accomplish tasks for the good of her people and the innocent which she could never do alone. Despite the initial boundaries separating them, Blaze now travels freely between her dimension and Sonic's to visit her friends.[11]
Appearance Blaze is a slim, lavender-furred anthropomorphic cat with golden eyes with two long eyelashes each, a small black nose, and a white-furred muzzle. She has triangular ears with peach-colored canals on top of her head, and a long tail with the end frayed and violet. Her fur is longer on each side of her head and sweeps slightly upwards, and she has four plumes of hair with violet tips tied-up into a high ponytail by a red hair tie. She also has a red oval gem on her forehead. For attire, Blaze wears a gold collar hanging from her neck, a purple tailcoat with rose trim at the bottom, white leggings, white gloves and high-heeled rose ankle boots, as both of them have white fluffy cuffs on them. Her boots also featured a thick white stripe on each of the front, and gray soles and heels.
Personality Monetary rewards are beneath a princess. I live to meet justice! A noble soul and strong young lady,[8][16] Blaze is highly devoted to the well-fare of her people, her motto being "My power is to protect the smiles of my people."[8] She is normally rather calm and solemn but tends to conceal her true feelings.[17] She is also often described as elegant, which is demonstrated through her body movements and her ballerina-like fighting style. Being royalty, Blaze is quite stoic personality-wise, which is a perfect example of the spirit of the noblesse oblige, as she is very frequently doing her official duties, but still tries to do her best for everyone's peace. Because of her lineage and her stoicism, she is sometimes too distant from those around her, but that is also the flip side of her good nature.[8] She likewise always sticks to her personal principles, which means doing the best she can with pride in the position she is in. This may be the source of Blaze's strength, and it may also be what makes her so appealing.[8] Blaze is mannerly and typically maintains a relatively quiet and formal air among others. She also usually speaks in a polite and ladylike tone. While honored of her heritage as royalty, though, Blaze is down-to-earth and dislikes being called by her title.[18] Blaze is also likewise highly perceptive; due to having people that lie to her daily because of her status as a princess, she has developed a keen intuition, allowing her to sense and see through the lies of others.[19] Also, due to the fact that she is so strong that she does not need her guards' support, one cannot help but wonder if she has that much discretion. Her own uncompromisingly calm judgment and unyielding spirit are also qualities that can be counted on. However, one's impression of her may be that she is a person with differences that can be respected.[8] While Blaze gives the impression that she keeps her emotions in check, she is inwardly highly emotional. She possesses a fiery temper, and when she loses her composure she is quite aggressive, harsh, and prone to making bad decisions. She is similarly very serious about her position as guardian of the Sol Emeralds, initially suspecting anyone even looking at the Emeralds the wrong way. Also, when dealing with enemies, she never holds back her strength and is not above the idea of using lethal force.[20] She is usually highly disciplined and focused, never allowing herself to lose control, and can be quite stubborn and impatient once she has put her mind to something. Her intensive demeanor, however, is motivated by her own genuine concern for others' safety. In truth, Blaze has a kind heart and always stands up for those who cannot stand up for themselves,[16] Because of her own self-imposed strict discipline though, she is often tense and frequently suffers from great self-pressure. Initially, she held a personal dislike of her pyrokinesis because it left her to bear her responsibilities alone and it made other children tease her for her inability to control it,[21] which made her view her flames as a curse. She later learns to accept them from Sonic's advice and came to see them as a blessing. Also, when it comes to her duty as guardian of the Sol Emeralds and their relation to the Chaos Emeralds, she is shown to have great faith in the actions both sets of Emeralds take on their own, no matter how vague their reasons may be.[22] Because of her past and strong sense of responsibility, Blaze has developed a habit of being self-reliant.[8] This has led her to build up walls between her and other people, making her anti-social, withdrawn, and shy. As a result, she would bottle up her secret feelings, leaving herself in inner turmoil. She also lacks in social skills and has a hard time opening up and talking to people. She was also initially wary and curt towards strangers and frequently rejected offers to help, even becoming defensive and angry. This attitude also made her somewhat selfish as she berated Sonic's offers to help and eventually ended up fighting him. After interacting with Cream, Amy and Sonic, Blaze has mellowed out considerably socially wise,[8] making her more amiable, friendly, and gentle towards others. She also came to understand the true meaning of friendship, making her willing to trust and accept help from others. While she still prefers handling things on her own and remains somewhat reclusive, she will accept her friends' help and is genuinely grateful for their aid. Recently, she is seemingly much more sociable, participating in Sonic's and later Amy's birthday parties simply for the sake of friendship, and is much quicker to open up and relax in front of her friends. Of course you are, Tails. You are my friends and thus among "my people". As such I will do everything to protect you, your homes, and your world. You deserve nothing less. — Blaze the Cat, Sonic the Hedgehog #76 Blaze is very honest and almost blunt when dealing with annoyances such as Marine. During the Jeweled Scepter incident, she tried to leave Marine behind on missions due to Marine's risky behavior and even went far enough to hurt her feelings by calling her a 'nuisance' to keep her from coming along with her on a dangerous mission to Pirates' Island. This caused Marine to go after the pirates without Sonic, Tails, or Blaze. Sooner rather than later, Marine was captured by them. Blaze also had a rather bad habit of getting over-confident in threatening people to whom she thinks "deserves" it. This was most notably shown during the Jeweled Scepter incident. Blaze sometimes has a tendency to judge others poorly and see less value in others. Notably, she expected no one to know that their worlds were in great danger during the Sol Emerald incident but was proven wrong when Sonic and Tails were also aware. Her poor judgment of others led her to have a fight with Sonic and misjudge Cream until she realized how helpful she was. Blaze suffers from acrophobia[23] and just the sight of heights makes her terrified, nervous, and uncomfortable as seen in Sky Babylon. However, she is not much for admitting her fear and will try to hide it. In the IDW Comics, Solemn, calm, and collected in battle, Blaze is a noble soul. Initially, she was a bit of a loner and somewhat defensive. However, she eventually warmed up to the concept of friendship and became more sociable and positive as a result of her new relationships. She has since come to cherish the friendships she has made and will do anything to keep her friends safe despite having only known them for a short time.[24]
Powers and abilities Being the guardian of the Sol Emeralds, Blaze is a force to be reckoned with. Both strong and powerful, she is able to go about without the need for her guards protecting her due to her sheer strength.[8] She is arguably the strongest female character in the series, being the only female so far who has been able to tie with Sonic in battle,[25] and is as intense in battle as she is graceful. Blaze's trademark power is her pyrokinetic ability to brandish,[26] create,[25] and control[16] the elemental force of fire with her body[10] at will[27] in any way she pleases. This ability is so deeply rooted in her that even her soul is alit with flames.[28] Though Blaze initially had trouble controlling her flames,[21] she has since become very adept at using them, turning them into an incredible force.[8] Notably, she is able to handle them delicately enough to create small embers in the palm of her hand or defrost frozen creatures without harming them.[29] Her power over fire is so advanced that she is even completely invulnerable to certain kinds of fire[30] and can manipulate foreign flames at will too.[31]
With her pyrokinesis, Blaze can conjure up flames for various offensive effects, the most basic maneuvers of which involve turning herself into a tornado of fire by spinning around. Notably, she can cloak herself in flames with a midair twirl for strikes, trigger high-speed twirls empowered by flames in order to form fiery tornadoes around her that destroy anything they collide with, envelop herself in flames to become an explosive meteor with enough impact power to create a crater in bedrock,[32][33] or increase the power behind her strikes to such levels that she can send the Egg Mobile and its passenger flying into the horizon with a single, fire-charged kick.[34] She can even create pressurized blasts of fire and have them burst out of the ground from afar.[33] Purely offense usages aside, Blaze can also use her pyrokinesis to propel herself forward or upward with short bursts of fire or obtain limited flight by creating propulsive flames underneath her feet to slow her descent. However, her signature move with her flames[4] lets her turn herself into a burning projectile that not only enhances her running speed but also lets her plow through opponents while running. Also, because Blaze's soul is alight with flame, she can serve as a vessel for Iblis, who would otherwise reject anyone not a member of the royal family of Soleanna, although his power would still leak out of her body.[28]
Like many others, Blaze possesses no small amount of speed,[35] allowing her to run at super speeds almost reaching those of Sonic's. In line with her graceful nature, Blaze is as well incredibly athletic considering her impressive dexterity and nimbleness when executing her various ballerina-like moves. Notably, she has enough skills in the area of athletics, reflexes, and agility to let her execute unique tricks and movements at high speed while in mid-air, pull off various Axel Jump maneuvers at immense speed, and grind on Grind Rails with ease. On the ground she is also able to perform top spins and axel jumps. In addition, she has amazing jumping skills, enough to jump very long distances from rooftop to rooftop on top of tall towers with ease while landing safely.[36]
As the guardian of the Sol Emeralds, Blaze has a deep connection to them. Before she understood the meaning of friendship though, Blaze was unable to harness the Sol Emeralds' power.[37] After embracing the friendships she had forged, however, she gained the ability to tap into the Sol Emeralds' energies and use them to empower herself.[38]
In combat, Blaze makes use of her own type of hand-to-hand combat skills. In fact, many of Blaze's moves focus on graceful and delicate movements similar to ballerina moves to strike precise and hard blows. When attacking, she tends to use her feet when launching physical blows. Also, most of her fighting moves rely heavily on her pyrokinesis. By using her pyrokinesis in conjunction with her attacks, Blaze can create unique and dynamic moves that deal destructive damage to her targets. She can likewise perform an attack similar to the Homing Attack, where she quickly launches herself at an enemy and attacks them.
In some instances, Blaze is shown being able to levitate in midair.[33][39] Being royalty, Blaze also has much knowledge about the various aspects of her planet, such as its history, ancient languages, and legends; and knows much about the various powers of the Jeweled Scepter. Additionally, she has excellent skills when it comes to driving vehicles like the Royal Chariot.[40]
In the IDW Comics, Blaze has the power of pyrokinesis. This allows her to control fire in different shapes and forms. She can extinguish flames as well as create them from her own body, allowing her to create tornadoes and beams of fire that vary in size. She can as well envelope herself in fire to perform moves like the Fire Boost, in which she charges herself as a burning projectile at her opponents with increased speed provided by the propulsion. She can also use the Axel Jump, in which she jumps as a miniature tornado of fire that damages her foes upon impact. Offense aside, Blaze can perform the Burst Hover, which lets her create and wield fire at her palms and feet to maneuver through the air. She can even amplify the attacks of her allies, such as Sonic, by enveloping them in flames that do not burn them and then throwing them at her opponent.[41]
Transformations Burning Blaze After realizing the importance of friendship and allowing herself to open up to people, Blaze learned how to harness the power of the seven Sol Emeralds to transform into Burning Blaze. In this state, all of Blaze's abilities far surpass her normal ones, including her pyrokinesis, which allows her to fire and charge up destructive fireballs in this state. She is also able to fly and is nearly invulnerable. However, this transformation consumes a lot of energy, meaning it cannot be maintained for long.
Color Powers By harnessing different variants of Hyper-go-on from Wisps, Blaze can use specific Color Powers to transform into a certain form, such as a drill, a laser, or even a planet, each one possessing its own unique abilities. So far, Blaze has been able to transform into the Cyan Laser, Yellow Drill, and Indigo Asteroid. However, these transformations require a steady supply of Hyper-go-on to be maintained.
Weaknesses Heights are not my strong suit. — Blaze the Cat, Team Sonic Racing Suffering from slight acrophobia,[23][4] Blaze gets uncomfortable when faced with great heights,[42] which is perhaps her greatest weakness. Blaze's temper also makes her prone to harsh and rough decisions. Notably, Blaze completely lost her temper while threatening Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega in Deep Core, causing her to lose sight of how she had to not recklessly endanger herself for the sake of her world and people until Sonic calmed her down.[43]
In the IDW Comics, As seen in the games Blaze suffers from acrophobia, which makes her uneasy at high altitudes. However, when needed, she is able to suppress her fear.[44]
- #16In between spaceconstant
Keys: Location
The In between space is the dimension in between all dimensions and it's completely empty,
- #17Sol Dimensionconstant
Keys: Location
The Sol Dimension[1][note 1] is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is the home dimension of Blaze the Cat and many others, as well as a parallel dimension in the multiverse that is linked to Sonic's universe.[2] Several artifacts of nearly unlimited power reside here, such as the Sol Emeralds and the Jeweled Scepter.
Description Most of the Sol Dimension remains largely unknown. Holding a universe similar, but not parallel to Sonic's,[3] its most prominent location is earth, the home planet of Blaze the Cat.
History During the Sol Emerald incident, the evil Dr. Eggman came to earth in the Sol Dimension and stole the Sol Emeralds from Blaze. As she chased the doctor, the cat was led to earth in Sonic's universe by the Emeralds,[4] where the villain had taken them. While she retrieved the Sol Emeralds, they and the Chaos Emeralds would merge the Sol Dimension into Sonic's universe, causing the dimensions to slowly merge and create a tear in the space-time continuum, which would result in the destruction of both universes. After recovering the Sol Emeralds and Super Sonic and Burning Blaze defeated Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega though, the disruptions stopped and both worlds were restored to normal, with Blaze returning to hers.
When the Jeweled Scepter incident came around, Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega threatened the Sol Dimension again as they sought the Power of the Stars on that world's earth and sent Captain Whisker's crew out to obtain the key to this power, the Jeweled Scepter, which Blaze tried to keep safe. Meanwhile, Sonic and Tails ended up on the cat's planet (presumed to be because of the Sol and Chaos Emeralds), specifically on Southern Island, while out investigating a storm. With Marine the Raccoon, they eventually met Blaze as Whisker stole the Scepter. The heroes thus teamed up to track down Whisker's hideout, where they got the Jeweled Scepter back after a final showdown. Eggman and Eggman Nega took it back soon after though, and unlocked the Power of the Stars, but Super Sonic and Burning Blaze defeated them. With the peace restored, Sonic and Tails returned home.
- #18Bunnie D'Coolette
Keys: Supporting character
Bunnie D'Coolette, birth name Bunnie Rabbot (pronounced rah-bow),[3][4] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. She is a mobian rabbit (though partially robotic), the wife of Antoine D'Coolette and a member of the Freedom Fighters. Originally, she was a regular person, but when Dr. Eggman made his first attack on Mobotropolis, Bunnie suffered severe injuries and the only way to save her life was by having parts of her body replaced with cybernetics by Charles the Hedgehog. Since then, she has used her cybernetics to better serve the Freedom Fighters, and together with her friends, she has been fighting the evil forces of the Eggman Empire.
Appearance Bunnie is a mobian rabbit with golden fur (though it is sometimes colored light orange-blonde), a white muzzle with a small pink nose, and vibrant emerald-green eyes. Her eyelids (as well as around the eyes themselves) are generally violet and her right ear is often flopped, though this is not a constant feature. Her hair, starting off as a tuft of bangs on the back of her neck and forehead, grew from childhood into shoulder-length, and then down to her waist which she began tying back in a single ponytail by a pink hair tie. She also has pink-colored canals, two medium-length eyelashes on each side of her eyes, and a short, fluffy white tail.
Bunnie's most pronounced feature are her cyborg limbs as a result of her roboticization, with her left arm and lower torso from the waist being cybernetic. Originally being more clunky and heavy in appearance, her robotic parts were replaced with sleeker, more modern versions with a pink stripe on each of her feet's toes. For attire, she wears a pink leotard, a white right glove with a pink cuff, and a gold wedding ring.
As a child, Bunnie wore purple overalls with gold buttons, a white shirt and gloves, and pink bows at the tip of her long ears. After her roboticization, Bunnie began wearing a pink singlet instead and eventually discarded her bows after becoming older. She originally had jet-black eyes with one eyelash on each eye.
Personality Bunnie has always been kind and friendly, and grew up with the expectation that she would marry a gentleman and settle down to a calm life as a hair stylist. That all changed during Dr. Eggman's takeover, when grievous injuries to Bunnie's body forced Uncle Chuck to partially roboticize her. This change proved quite the struggle in Bunnie's life, but her fellow Freedom Fighters helped her to find a sense of normalcy by embracing her regardless of her cyborg nature. Bunnie thus developed into a fiery but good-natured individual with a firm desire to help save her world from evil and prevent the suffering of others. She is incredibly courageous and self-sacrificing, but not to the point of recklessness; her greatest fear is that something might befall her husband or their friends.
Powers and abilities Though she initially struggled with her cyborg nature, Bunnie eventually embraced her new form and its abilities, which-among various upgrades-included the powers of flight and conversion of her left forearm into a laser weapon. She also gained a built-in computer in her arm that could form a wireless connection with Nicole. Bunnie also gained the ability to fire lasers directly from the palm of her hand, or can transform her arm into a cannon. However, the power of her arm-laser seems to be limited to an extent, as seen by how she could create only a small hole in one of the Egg Train's roof hatches, instead of outright destroying it. Her mechanical limbs also grant her strength beyond that of a normal person.

Sugar-'twan...don't you see? It's not that you were "too scared." It's that you kept on fightin' despite it. Bein' brave ain't about not bein' scared. It's about doing what you need to do even when you are scared. To be so far from home, to stay so true to yer friends... It was your bravery that inspired me to make it so far. — Bunnie, Sonic Super Digest #8 Bunnie was first noticed by Antoine D'Coolette in Knothole where he watched her ongoing struggles to function, which inspired him to do more. In his own words, Bunnie gave Antoine the answer to what would make him brave. The two joined the Freedom Fighters together and over the years of fighting as teammates, they became very close. Years later, Bunnie revealed to Antoine that he had inspired her with his own courage, and the comradery between the two blossomed into romance, and the two were eventually married. Upon having his memories of the original timeline restored, Antoine's first thought was of his wife, and he went to great lengths to be with her at the time of her own memory restoration, knowing that she would need support.
Sonic the Hedgehog RCO005 1462726662 Bunnie and Sonic racing, from Sonic Super Digest #9.
Sonic the Hedgehog is one of Bunnie's friends. When Bunnie was depressed when she became a cyborg for the first time, Sonic and her fellow Freedom Fighters helped her in those moments and also showed that she was still herself, which provoked and inspired her to fight along with the rest of her friends and use her cybernetics to her advantage.
Miles "Tails" Prower Tails hugging Bunnie Tails hugging Bunnie, from Sonic the Hedgehog #281.
Miles "Tails" Prower is Bunnie's close friend and her foster brother. When Bunnie was roboticized and being taken by Rosie, Tails said that he viewed Bunnie as his big sister, and he didn't care if she was half robot, this melted Bunnie's heart. Tails and Rotor then built her new cybernetic limbs for her.
Sally Acorn Bunnie warning Sally Bunnie trying to warn Sally about the other reality, from Sonic the Hedgehog #256.
Sally Acorn and Bunnie are very close friends, the two often come to each other for comfort and support. When Bunnie first got roboticized after Dr. Eggman took over Mobotropolis, Sally helped Bunnie feels like she's no different from them. After Sally got back her memories from their previous timeline, when she was breaking down in grief after discovering she was Eggman's roboticized slave, Bunnie hugged her and tried to calm her down.
Cassia the Pronghorn While Cassia and Bunnie are enemies, they have several things in common, particularly regarding their personal experiences as cyborgs. Initially, Bunnie saw Cassia and her cheerful attitude towards her body modifications with disgust, thinking she had voluntarily replaced her perfectly normal body parts with cybernetics as an "upgrade" - upon finding out Cassia only did it because there were no other options to treat her illness, her anger softened. Cassia seems to not really care one way or another about Bunnie beyond considering fighting her a fun challenge. While she envies Bunnie's broad-built in arsenal, Cassia seems to have a degree of respect for her boldness.

- #19Honey the Cat (Archie)
Keys: Supporting character
Honey the Cat is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. She is a mobian cat, fashion designer, and the founder and CEO of Honey Brand Clothes And Accessories. As the mind behind her Honey Clothing label, she works to promote her products in any way possible
Appearance Honey is a mobian cat with close-lying, light amber fur, a peach muzzle, and long jet-black hair that she keeps in two voluminous ponytails. She also has two triangular and perked ears with peach canals, a small black nose, small fangs, large orange eyes with two medium-length eyelashes on each one, thin arms and legs, and a slim tail with the end black. For attire, she wears a red hairband and elaborate white laced cloth-like hair barrettes around her ponytails, alongside a red sleeveless dress with a black collar and white laces on the lower rim. She also has a pair of white angel wings on the back, although it is unknown if they are real or not. Her dress also has a black sash around the waist, and a black area on her front skirt with white fasteners. Additionally, she wears white gloves with red backs and laced cuffs, black arm wrappers around her wrists, and red and black boots.
Personality Honey is upbeat and friendly, but also a determined businesswoman; going to such lengths to join a fighting tournament and hire the Freedom Fighters as modelers in an effort to advertise her products.[3] She has a very strong drive toward accomplishment, even taking up martial arts just for the sake of giving herself more to do between her work as a fashion designer and CEO of Honey Clothing.[1] Even when facing a problem, she has enough confidence to somehow get around it. However, while she has noble intentions, she can be quite devious in battle, though until Breezie pointed it out she seems to have thought little of it.[4][6] She appears to be the type of person who wants to put on a show for the people, as seen during the fighting tournament, she easily beat Tails despite there common interests and when she decided for forfeit her match with Sonic, she still put up a fight, regardless of her purpose to intentionally lose.
Powers and abilities Shadow Sneak Honey performing the Shadow Sneak, from Sonic the Hedgehog #269.
Honey is quite the agile fighter. With her "Shadow Sneak" technique, she can move fast enough in short bursts to create the illusion of producing multiple copies of herself to confuse her opponent. She was able to go toe to toe during her match against Tails and eventually won once outsmarting him. She was even able to match Sonic the Hedgehog himself for a time before he finally defeated her. She also has the skills of the fashion designer she is.
Relationships Breezie the Hedgehog Honey is a business partner of Breezie the Hedgehog to design clothes for her staff. Their relationship is quite professional but Breezie's approach to certain dangers makes Honey uneasy, seeing how Breezie only cared for how she benefited from the popularity of the Chaos Emerald Championship rather than how Metal Sonic nearly stole the prize.
Amy Rose Amy and Honey friendship Honey and Amy, from Sonic the Hedgehog #268.
Amy Rose is a long-time fan of Honey, whose attire she recognized and was an old piece of one of her creations of the line "Dream-Casters". Honey was also delighted to see Amy wearing the look and was determined to re-launch it in Amy's honor as part of the "Rose Collection".
Miles "Tails" Prower Honey was somewhat disconcerting to Tails and proves to be quite intimidating towards him. Nonetheless, she still appreciates Tails' work as a Freedom Fighter.

- #20Metal Sonic
Keys: Main character evil
Metal Sonic (メタルソニック Metaru Sonikku?) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a Badnik model created by Doctor Eggman, modeled after Sonic the Hedgehog. Metal Sonic can imitate Sonic's abilities and achieve speeds matching his own.[5] Widely regarded as one of Eggman's greatest creations,[6] Metal Sonic first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog CD, and has been a recurring antagonist ever since.
While usually serving as Eggman's obedient and silent enforcer, Metal Sonic is an intelligent robot with a very dark side. Cold-hearted and ruthless, he is obsessed with proving his superiority to Sonic and eliminating him for good to the point where he has rebelled against Eggman more than once to achieve his goal. However, he always fails in the end, only to later return more powerful than before. To this day, Metal Sonic remains one of Sonic's most dangerous foes.[4]
Appearance Metal Sonic was created in the image of Sonic the Hedgehog and is thus mostly built of blue metal. He has a yellow circular depression in his chest with a black center, mirroring the peach skin on Sonic's chest. His head has metal fins resembling Sonic's quills and a pair of triangular "ears." Metal Sonic has a muzzle, shoulder plates, upper arms, legs, and fingers made out of silvery metal. His palms are black, while the backs of his hands are square yellow plates. His forearms and lower legs are blue metal like his head and torso, and he has red feet with white stripes designed to resemble Sonic's shoes. To simulate the hedgehog's eyes, he has monitors with cameras behind them,[7] giving them a red sclera. Following the Ifrit incident, Metal Sonic received a slight update in design which made him taller and gave him a more ellipsoid torso. He also gained more detailed hands, a brilliant blue paint job, joints on his arms and legs, and sharper eyeholes.
Personality Metal Sonic is a ruthless and cold-hearted killing machine. Incredibly intelligent and self-aware for an Eggman robot, Metal Sonic at one point evolved to become an independent, rebellious and power-hungry tyrant willing to betray his own creator. After his defeat however, he was stripped of his rebellious coding, turning him into a more obedient robot. (StH: #7)
Neo transforms Metal Sonic continues Eggman's reign for his sake.
Nowadays, Metal Sonic is completely devoted to Dr. Eggman and his role of serving the Eggman Empire. His loyalty towards his creator and purpose has proven to be so great that he chose to step up to lead the Eggman Empire and conquer the world in the doctor's stead and likeness after he went missing to insure that Eggman's reign remained unbroken. Should the world become his, he would then faithfully hand the empire over to Dr. Eggman. He has also proven to be very grounded in his beliefs: even when in a position of absolute power within the Eggman Empire, Metal Sonic insists that he is only a servant to the Eggman Empire, and that the only one fit to rule it is Eggman himself. (StH: #7)
Metal Sonic also has an unhealthy obsession with his organic template, Sonic the Hedgehog. Referring to the real Sonic as his "double" and "loathsome copy", Metal Sonic believes himself to be the real Sonic in a sense; after seemingly killing Sonic, Metal Sonic proclaimed that he was the "one, true Sonic". (StH: #7)
In comparison to Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic is much more subtle in his tactics. Rather than stepping up to claim responsibility whenever he commits something malicious, Metal Sonic tends to operate in the shadows or in a disguise. He is similarly not one to prattle loudly about his master plans before they are carried out. Metal Sonic also demonstrated a very calm and enduringly patient demeanor during his time ruling the Eggman Empire. This is mainly due to his own arrogance and belief in his supposedly impending victories. He rarely lets his setbacks get to him and he gets no more than mildly annoyed whenever one of his plans does not go as intended. That does not mean he does not possess a temper however, as he has been known to have episodes of angry outbursts whenever things do not go as he wants. (StH: #1, #2, #5, #6, #7)
Abilities Metal Sonic is an exceptional powerful robot capable of going toe-to-toe with Sonic the Hedgehog and is said to be Dr. Eggman's finest creation. Metal Sonic has a powerful turbine-based propulsion system that he uses in order to keep up with Sonic's super speed as well as achieve high-speed flight in any environment. He also has sharp claws and articulated joints, allowing him to rotate his torso 360 degrees. In addition, he possesses incredible strength as, even in a weakened state, he was strong enough to break metal chains keeping him captive with ease.
Metal Sonic was armed with razor sharp claws. He also had a jetpack.
In addition to his speed, flight and durability, Metal Sonic is also capable of generating an energy barrier around himself to block attacks and demolish any obstacles in his way whilst he is in flight. He can also fire energy blasts out of his torso.
Transformations Metal Sonic has undergone some transformations, although some are further transformations that branch off from the one listed below.
Neo Metal Sonic Profile Neo Metal Sonic
Neo Metal Sonic Main article: Neo Metal Sonic Through unknown means, Metal Sonic is able to assume an upgraded and more advanced state of himself called Neo Metal Sonic. In this form, Metal Sonic is able to shapeshift, has limitless stamina and enhanced durability, and the ability to fly. He is also able to copy the bio-data of others, allowing him to gain other people's abilities and skills.
