Pillory

{{Pillory}} isn't a specific character, it's a scenario.

The new autocrat of the realm tells his subjects the world is overdue for a punishment that will deter crime. But secretly it's because he's sadistic and enjoys watching people tormented and suffer. He declares that for any crime not punishable by death shall then be punished by the offender being put in a pillory. The Pillory is hinged wooden boards forming holes through which the head and wrists are inserted, immobilizing the person and leaving them bent over and vulnerable to the whims of the public. Unlike in history where the punishment may only last one to three hours, the punishment now may last for days depending on the severity of the crime. Everything from speeding to theft of food may be punished this way. Also a wider variety of things are allowed to be done to those in the pillories under this king's rule than in the past. At least 3 pillory are to be erected in every city center, mall, place of higher learning, event center, anywhere there is a lot of foot traffic. And to satiate his hunger to see others suffer, in case the citizens are behaving themselves and not breaking laws, there's a lotto to pick people from the general population to fill the pillories. Citizens picked by lotto spend less time on the pillory, spending the maximum of a day. The king tells the public the Lotto is to keep the hecklers from getting too harsh. Another avenue to the pillory is volunteering to take the place of a Lotto pick. Volunteers get slightly lighter sentences and special privileges. Volunteers are allowed a 30 minute rest every 3 hours, after 13 hours are allowed to go home, are given padding for their neck and wrists so they don't chafe, are allowed to pick the location, and are allowed up to three exemptions from things allowed to be done to them or thrown at them. Volunteers earn points/tickets per stint in the Pillory and if they've done at least 6 stints in a year in the Pillory are put in a special-lotto to attend at year's end an appreciation feast at the King's castle. The more stints they do, the better the chances. There are 70 coveted spots at the feast, as it is a lavish grand event with the best food, gifts, making connections that can move one up in the world, supposedly. There are rumors the king also chooses personal playthings at these events.

Hecklers may choose to dole out such following punishments: yelling insults, derogatory language, cut-downs, spitting on them, urinating on them, pinching. Flogging them with things such as sticks, whips, paddles, belts, chords, rope, spanking them. Throwing things at detainee such as rotten food, mud, detritus from a chicken coop, fecal matter, animal urine such as deer or skunk, dead animals, small objects such as LEGO bricks, stones. This king even allows the public to have sex with the detainees if the hecklers are so inclined. Oral, vaginal, anal, go for it. (The only form of NC that won't get your head lobbed off under the king's rule.) Of note some Random passerbys may try to show kindness to those on the Pillories such as throwing flowers, cleaning them up, offering them water, tending to wounds, but then they too risk being put in the Pillory themselves. Forbidden from being used on or done to detainee user: Anything that kills them, throwing bricks and other such heavy objects, stabbing them in vital organs, infecting them with an incurable disease.
