Sophie Walten is a member of the titular Walten family; She is the daughter of Jack and Rosemary Walten and the older sister of Edward and Molly Walten. Despite what is believed by many, she is not a shy, cutesy type: She is antisocial but can be rude and aggressive, even if unintentional. She has a bad temper, inherited from her father and can be likely easily irritated, as she originally was with her future girlfriend, Jenny Letterson. Initially, though as of 1982, Sophie seems to be very playful and happy around Jenny, showing that they now have a positive, normal relationship. Sophie seems to emotionally rely on Jenny in some regard, not having any known friends of her own and spending her time without Jenny, simply waiting for Jenny to come back. Sophie, due to her medication, is an easily confused, awkward person. Not much is known about Sophie’s personality, as the medication that she takes most likely sedate her from all of the trauma that she has experienced. However, she is curious, as even after seeing the events of Billy’s mini-game, she wants to know more about what she can find as she begins to piece together the events leading to her being shown these horrific images of her family, though this could be due to the medication simply not allowing her to fully process what she was witnessing. She can also remember people who are even in cartoon fashion, such as when she recognized Edward and Molly (her younger siblings).

Appearance: Sophie has tan skin, dark curly brown hair cut to around chin-length, dark brown eyes, thick eyebrows, and a long, sloped/broad nose similar to her father's. In most of her depictions, she appears to have a mole under her left eye. She has a resting angry/upset face. Sophie wears a blue and jet stream colored jacket that looks similar to a letterman's jacket, though it is not with a purple and baby blue target patch sleeve pocket sewn on her left arm sleeve, a zipper going from the sweater-like polo neck down her torso to her pants. This outfit, on Sophie's right breast has bold white text reading "BRIGHTON '82" hence the colloquial name for this outfit. Her pants are oversized, filthy cargo pants with rolled up pantlegs and red converse shoes. The pants and shoes all appear very dirty and oily with random food stains on them.

History: Sophie Walten was born on September 13, 1960, to Jack Walten and Rosemary Peony Walten. Later, in 1962 and 1965, her two siblings, Edd and Molly Walten were born respectively. Sophie's childhood specifically isn't known though we know she had a good childhood with loving parents until they disappeared. Sophie, in her adult life recalling her childhood, notes Jack Walten being a loving, though distant father due to him being often busy with work. Sophie, as a young girl, liked stuffed animals but had a specific interest in cowboys and action toys, specifically loving cowboys in general. Her favorite toy was a white plush bear - Snowbear. Sophie was close to Charles Brook, Susan Woodings, Linda, and (most notably) Felix Kranken: several members of the BSI Family, but also just close family friends. Sophie (along with her siblings) referred to the four by uncle/aunt. As a kid, Sophie would get embarrassed whenever someone told her that her parents were cool.

On May 2nd, 1974, Sophie had a routine dentist checkup, with her mother taking her. Before going to the dentist, Sophie overheard her father, Jack talking to Felix over the phone, asking him to take Edd and Molly to their school dance as him and Rosemary were busy with other things to drive them their selves. This would be the last day with all of the members of the Walten family alive.

On May 2nd, Sophie's siblings, Edd and Molly were killed in a car accident caused by the driver, Felix, being intoxicated while driving. At some point between May 5th and the 13th, Sophie attended her sibling's funeral, in shock of the loss. Sophie, along with Jack and Rosemary, grieved for their deceased loved ones. Sophie stopped eating normally briefly after the funeral as a grief response. Rose was devastated by the loss, falling into a depression where she was continuously working on art in her art room. On May 21st, Sophie spoke with her father, revealing that she was ashamed of the way she was processing her grief; Sophie felt no sadness about Edd and Molly's death, stating it felt more like Edd and Molly were just "away", even if she knew she'd never see them again. Sophie was worried, even scared of Rosemary in this emotional state. After the disappearance of her father and mother, Sophie lived under the care of her aunt and her mother's sister, Laura Peony.

Having to mature very quickly due to her tragic childhood, she didn’t learn/understand how to be a child or an adult and so, for a lot of her adult life, didn't understand what she was supposed to do in life or how to do it. As early as 1978, possibly during her time at BunnyHill College, Sophie met Jenny Letterson. Sophie, initially disliked Jenny but eventually became fond of her, gaining a soft spot. Sophie was expelled from college for shaving the head of a fellow female student while she slept. By 1978, Sophie was 18-years-old and assumedly no longer in the care of her caretaker and in 1979, at age 19, she began living in the back of a meat store due to it being cheap. She also started working at a local pizza place in Brighton. Also in 1979, Sophie and Jenny officially started dating. Two years later, in 1981, Sophie was no longer employed at the Pizza Place and in 1982, she moved into a room with Jenny in the Entfernt Hotel where Jenny worked at. Sophie, struggles in her post-1974 life, having several breakdowns while living at the Entfernt Hotel, causing the owner of the Hotel to want to kick her out though Jenny vouches for her, protecting her from being evicted. Sophie also seems to be unemployed up to this point, seemingly spending all her time alone in the hotel room when Jenny was out working and hanging out with Jenny when she wasn't on a work shift.

Relationships: Jack Walten (father): Jack Walten is the founder of Bon's Burgers, husband of Rosemary Walten, and father of Sophie, Edward, and Molly Walten. His fate is currently unknown. Jack Walten is usually seen wearing a brown suit with a tie. Shoulder-length curly black brown hair. He is often seen smiling with weird, gummy smile. Jack is described by others as hard-working workaholic and happy father. He is a good husband and father, being quite protective of his children. Jack tried his best as a parent; he was strict, unintentionally pushy, and very exigent, but still was a good father regardless. On June 11th, 1974, under unknown circumstances, Jack would disappear, being documented as a missing person.

Molly and Edward Walten: the dead children of Rosemary and Jack, who died in an accident caused by Felix. They have no human bodies and are mentioned in the Wonderland.

Rosemary Peony Walten (mother): The wife of Jack Walten, the lead artist of Bunny Smiles Incorporated and mother of Edwin, Molly and Sophie Walten. She's described as extremely caring, but very intimidating whenever she wanted to, and if she was bothered, would let someone know immediately. Sophie did note that she was kind but not too kind, which proves the latter points. She deeply loved her children and was very supportive and protective of them. Statements about Rosemary and Jack show that she and Jack had a good relationship and marriage. Rosemary wears a yellow turtleneck sweater with two buttons on the chest and two buttons on each shoulder, a long red skirt, long white socks and brown boots. Her hair has been shown to be less full (less wavy and more flat), black, longer, going just past her shoulders. and a slim facial appearance, with blue eyes. In most depictions, the shoulder buttons have seemingly been retconned or overall ignored. She is considered missing, but her remains and spirit are seen in the animatronics of Sha and mentioned in Wonderland.

Felix Kranken: Felix Archer Kranken is the co-founder and owner of Bon's Burgers and Jack Walten's former close friend. Felix is usually in business attire and wears thick glasses, short-sleeved button-down shirt, a black tie, and black slacks. Felix has a severe alcohol addiction, which has brought him into a very emotional state. He likely suffers from severe memory loss due to his drinking habits, causing poor cognitive regulation. He appears to have a firm opinion of himself, almost to the point of egomania. Under his alcoholism and poor decision making, he seems to be a passionate and ambitious man, as he had long dreamed of an animatronic-themed restaurant and is quite proud of BSI's work of Bon's Burgers, stating that the employees worked "blood and sweat" for it's grand opening.

Jenny Letterson (girlfriend) is the girlfriend of Sophie Walten. Jenny is a young woman with curly red hair, pale skin, and freckles, along with a big nose and eyes. In all of her appearances, she wears a rainbow sweater and sometimes appears with jeans as seen in a poster. Jenny in current years has been retconned to be overweight/chubby. Jenny is outgoing, confident, and caring when the situation calls for it. She can, however, also be snarky at times. When interacting with Sophie, she is shown to tease her and call her a "dumbass" due to a spelling error jokingly. She is also frequently busy with essays and work. She is almost always seen smiling in official art, showing off her positive and happy personality, with her also being a very dorky person. Jenny is caring, as seen when she attempts to console Sophie, sitting down with her with a camera to help record Sophie's emotions and help her sort out her memories. On top of this, when Sophie begins delving into BSI, Jenny insisted to help her in the investigation. The specific sense of documenting Sophie's memories and mental side could be attributed to her interest in psychology, as she was studying it in college.

Bon the Rabbit: Bon the Dancing Rabbit, also known as Bon the Rabbit, or just Bon, is an anthropomorphic bunny animatronic and one of the four Showstoppers, the Mascot of the restaurant chain Bon's Burgers, and the main antagonist of The Walten Files. He is possessed by "Bon".

In his "broken" form (1975-1982), his fur is a blue spruce instead of a light blue, and he has multiple holes throughout his body and limbs, including a very large hole on his upper chest, with his CyberFun Mech being visible underneath. His eyes are seldom visible in this form. He no longer has suit coverings on the bottom halves of his arms and legs, letting his animatronic casing or “skeleton” show, which is also very damaged. There are signs of extreme erosion to the teeth, showing the metal casing behind the covering. Along his exposed casing, there are several slim black wires. Due to Post Extensive Object Possession, Bon resembles "Bon" with a scar on his right eye, a large scar going up the right side of his mouth, his eyes are very human-like, and he has sharper teeth. His cheetah print bow-tie is dirtied to the point where its print is barely recognizable. His nose is also very slim and small. When Bon is seen with the bottom half of his limbs without the fabric covers, it means that "Bon" is possessing him. When possessed by "Bon", the animatronic eyes become more organic with blood vessels.

Sha the Sheep: Sha the Sheep is an anthropomorphic sheep animatronic and is one of the four Showstoppers of Bon's Burgers. Sha was built for the collaboration of CyberFun Tech and Bunny Smiles Incorporated's restaurant, Bon's Burgers. Sha was designed by Rosemary Walten, the head artist of BSI, sometime during the late 1960s and early 1970s, and built mainly by Susan Woodings, the lead technician of BSI in Early-1974. In her damaged animatronic form, her fur is more dirty and desaturated due to age, as well as having various holes and tear marks, likely done by CyberFun Tech. In addition to the large hole in her chest, she's also missing the sleeves of her suit, just like Bon does, revealing her animatronic Mech beneath. Possessed by Rosemary Walten.

Susan Woodings: Susan Woodings was responsible for the creation and animatronic design. She was the Lead Technician and head of the technical service at Bon's Burgers and B.S.I., outranking all of those in technical roles, only surpassed by Jack and Felix. She was also employed in CyberFun Tech as her main job, as her employment in B.S.I. was for technical expertise and animatronics. Chronologically, she is the first B.S.I. and CyberFun Tech — other than Jack if he is confirmed dead — to have died, her body being stuffed into the Banny the Bunny animatronic.

Charles Brook: Charles was the Computer Supervisor for BSI, working with Susan Woodings to control the animatronics on the stage. Charles also worked with and knew the Waltens for years, even referring to them as family. He is the person possessing Boozoo and is the second known victim of Bon.

Trivia: She's 22 years old. Her medicine: After a traumatic event in 1974, seemingly involving Sophie seeing Rosemary Walten, Charles Brook, and Susan Woodings deceased inside of several of the animatronics, Sophie would begin taking an unknown medication prescribed to her. After taking the medication for presumably several years and all the way into her adulthood, Sophie would lose all memory of her childhood. These pills have given Sophie a side effect of being terrible at handling and perceiving her own and others' emotions, to the point where she has never cried since she started taking the pills. And if someone close to her, like Jenny Letterson, were to start crying, Sophie would have no idea what to do or how to handle it.
