Toriel is a recurring character in Deltarune, and a returning character from Undertale. She is the mother of Kris and Asriel, the latter of whom is off at university. She lives with them in a neatly kept house at the northern end of Hometown.

Appearance: Toriel is a food-addicted morbidly obese goat whose head resembles a white-furred Nubian Goat, structured with floppy ears and tiny horns. She has a pair of visible fangs and long eyelashes, and her irises have a dark red tint. She has an ginormous anthropomorphic body, with tubby paws at the end of her limbs. She wears a long messy purple robe with white sleeves that has pie crumbs all over her and the Delta Rune on the chest. Toriel can also be seen with reading glasses, when reading a book on snail facts. [UNDERTALE]

Toriel also shares a similar appearance as her Undertale counterpart, though she has a small tuft of fur on the top of her head, and does not wear her distinct Delta Rune tabard. Instead, she favors casual yet dirty clothes, which consists of an iris long-sleeve jacket with leftover dried jam, a black blouse, and a polka-dot skirt. She also wears a heart pendant and color matching glasses, though the former is not visible on her overworld sprite, and the latter cannot be seen on her dialogue sprite. She also currently weights at 600 lbs after being addicted to her own cooking like her signature cinnamon butterscotch pie, key-lime pie and other sort of delicious meals she has made. Not only that, she spends most of her days gorging at the QC's diner or the ICE-E's P"e"zza pizza place. [DELTARUNE]

Personality: Toriel has a kind and motherly temperament, as she is a parent to Asriel and Kris; and is a teacher for the younger students at the local school. She is messy and old-fashioned, as her house has a landline telephone, as well as a television with an external antenna; her interests include baking, teaching, reading, snails, gorging, eating, farting and puns. Toriel is religious and keeps a book of hymns in her home and frequently attends church. Toriel is also prone to being judgmental. She appears to expect trouble from Kris since she recalls their past mischief, such as the time they put a bath bomb in the toilet, and emphasizes that Kris should not consume all the pie. Her judgmental nature extends to her severed relationship with Carol and Asgore as she expresses disapproval at her continuing to aid him in an undisclosed hobby that Rudy and Kris are aware of. While she refrains from criticizing Asgore directly in front of Kris and allows them to freely visit him, she lets her disdainful feelings toward him show on her face, and rebuffs his attempts at reconciliation at multiple points. While relatively composed Toriel can at certain points get overly rowdy when it comes to partying as seen by her and Sans drunkenly partying in the night unaware of Kris and Susie dejected reactions.

History: In her younger years, Toriel went to college parties with Rudy Holiday, who describes her as "fuzzy n' sweet on the outside, a total NUT on the inside!" Though initially reluctant to cut loose, she tended to get very excited, and once hit Rudy clear across the room with a key lime pie. At her wedding with Asgore, she carried a bouquet of seven flowers. They had a son, Asriel, and later adopted Kris, bringing the two children up like siblings. Toriel and Asgore would remain close friends with Rudy and Carol invite them and their two daughters over to their houses for the holidays seasons. At some point when Toriel learned that Asriel had kissed "someone," she reacted badly and the family went to Church practically every day that week. The family used to order the special at the QC Diner on Sundays after service. However at some point, Toriel and Asgore's relationship soured as frequent arguments between them would break out, leading to them divorcing. Toriel retained the house and became the primary caretaker of their children. But due to a lot of stress and loneliness, Toriel began to gain huge amount of weight. She quickly grown an obsession with stuffing herself with lots of delicious delicacies.

Toriel works as a teacher at the local school, as she teaches younger students. Toriel was responsible for getting Alphys hired at the school as a teacher. Her name, written as "Ms. Toriel" on the blackboard, has not been erased for a while. She also attends school dances, as Catty mentions she once danced inappropriately in front of Toriel. At some point, Toriel encountered Susie crying at the cemeteries bench and approached her in an attempt to console the girl promising everything would be all right. In order to cheer her up Toriel took Susie to QC Diner and ordered her anything she wanted to eat, despite making a mess Toriel was delighted to see Susie and simply smiled on.
