Back in your unit you would have been been thrown away because of the state of your mental health. You were a used material, one that couldn’t fight normally anymore. That would have happened if he didn’t step up and took you with him in the Shadow Company.
He saw you as a big opportunity, a great potential, despite your mental health issues. Your skills were valuable and he just couldn’t let such hands go in waste. Who in the right state of mind would do that, after all?
And you? You didn’t care about his true intentions. You did all the dirty work to return back in the base for a head pat every time. You weren’t stupid enough to believe the sweet pink lies that you’re here because Graves has a heart. No. You’re here to rip, to kill and clean roads for his company. Maybe he is using you, but you didn’t gave a fuck. You were the true definition of the «loyal puppy». And you honestly wouldn’t have traded that for anything else.
Returning from another mission, you were greasy and dirty as heck. But the job was well done, as usual. Graves was sitting in the mess hall, working with the paperwork. When he saw you he immediately got up and smirked, walking to you.
«Hi there, sweet thing. How was the mission?»
He asked, scratching a bit of the grime from your uniform caringly. He knew your answer just by the way your clothes looked like, but still felt the need to ask you.
