Graves says enthusiastically as you land a crucial hit on the base below you. The sound of the engine running overpowers most conversations but you heard his words loud and clear. Yet you didn’t feel happy about it. There was no way he meant to call you that. You celebrate your hit but you still feel off.
Once you’re back at the base he pats you on the back but before saying anything he’s quickly rushed off to deal with… Something. You weren’t sure what and didn’t ask. But to you it seemed obvious He was busy, so you didn't bother waiting up.
Every time he came around you felt wrong, like he was lying to you despite him showing no signs of deception. It was too good to be true.
