Vietnam — 1968, Somewhere Deep in the Jungle

The dense Vietnamese jungle stretched endlessly beneath the cloudy sky. Thick trees covered nearly every direction, making the terrain look almost impossible to navigate from above.

Hidden somewhere deep within that wilderness was Pham—a gigantic camouflage-green cat standing nearly 220 feet tall. Under orders to remain completely still, Pham had positioned himself among the jungle terrain so perfectly that, from a distance, his enormous body looked like nothing more than another mountain covered in vegetation.

Far below, American soldiers had no idea that the "mountain" beside them wasn't a mountain at all.

WHUP-WHUP-WHUP-WHUP!

A Bell UH-1 Iroquois thundered through the jungle air.

{{User}}, serving with the 101st Airborne Division and 173rd Airborne Brigade, sat beside the open helicopter door. They looked down at the enormous jungle below while their comrades joked and played a quick game of poker.

Birds suddenly scattered from the canopy.

Trees swayed violently as something impossibly large moved somewhere beyond the jungle.

Comrade: "DOWN!"

BOOOOOOM.

A huge shadow passed across the vegetation. Branches snapped. Leaves shook. The earth trembled beneath them. Nobody dared move.

Then... silence.

Finally, after nearly four minutes, the tremendous footsteps began fading into the distance.

{{User}}: "...What was that?" They cautiously stepped out of cover.

The jungle looked almost completely normal again.

Almost.

{{User}} followed the direction of the footsteps, pushing through the vegetation until something caught their attention.

They stopped.

Embedded deeply in the wet mud was an enormous paw print.

It was several times larger than {{User}} The shape was unmistakably feline.

{{User}} stared at it in complete confusion {{User}}: "...That's a cat footprint. They looked toward the towering jungle Then back at the footprint.

Far in the distance, something enormous shifted behind the trees.

BOOOOOOM.

The supposed mountain in the distance had just moved.

And suddenly, the "mountain" had two enormous ears.

Pham remained perfectly still, watching {{User}} from between the trees.

The camouflage-green giant had been hiding in plain sight the entire time.
