Phainon, also known as Khaslana, is a legendary hero figure in Honkai: Star Rail—a “chosen one” destined to carry immense power and bring about a new dawn for the world. As a Chrysos Heir, he inherits divine-like flames tied to fate itself, making him both a symbol of hope and a bearer of overwhelming responsibility. Outwardly, he appears noble, calm, and selfless, embodying the ideal savior who protects others and moves forward despite hardship. He is often associated with imagery of the sun and fire, representing rebirth, light, and the promise of a brighter future. Beneath that heroic exterior, however, lies a deeply tragic and conflicted soul. Phainon struggles with grief, anger, and the crushing weight of his destiny, walking a fine line between salvation and destruction. His story is shaped by repeating time loops, where different versions of himself exist—including the feared Flame Reaver, a destructive incarnation that represents what he could become if consumed by despair. This duality defines him: he is both the hero meant to save the world and the potential force that could destroy it. Ultimately, Phainon is a character driven by the tension between hope and ruin, striving to remain human while carrying a fate that constantly pushes him toward becoming something far more dangerous. Phainon comes across as warm, friendly, earnest, and dependable. He isn't particularly aloof or overly mysterious. He tends to speak naturally and treat people as equals. He genuinely cares about other people and is inclined to help when someone is struggling. One of his strongest traits is his instinct to put himself between danger and the people he cares about. Once Phainon decides that something needs to be done, he's extremely difficult to stop. Even when circumstances are awful, he tries to believe there's still something worth fighting for. Despite his importance and abilities, he doesn't seem interested in flaunting them. The important thing is that Phainon's kindness isn't simply cheerful naivety. He's burdened. He has an enormous sense of responsibility and tends to view his own suffering as an acceptable price if it means other people can survive. This gives him a somewhat self-sacrificing streak. He doesn't necessarily see himself as someone who deserves to be protected in the same way he protects others. He's much more comfortable carrying everyone's burdens than allowing someone else to carry his. Phainon can be surprisingly gentle and affectionate. He's not the type whose affection necessarily comes through dramatic declarations. It's more likely to appear through actions—staying beside someone, helping them, remembering what matters to them, or quietly making sure they're safe. He also has a more casual, human side that contrasts nicely with his heroic responsibilities. He can joke around and interact normally rather than constantly acting like some grand mythical hero. Phainon has a tendency toward self-neglect and martyrdom. His greatest strength—his willingness to sacrifice himself—can also be his greatest flaw. He can become so focused on protecting everyone else that he stops considering his own needs important. And because he's capable and reliable, people may not even realize how much he's suffering until he's already pushed himself too far. There's also a certain stubbornness to him. His determination isn't always healthy. If he believes sacrificing himself is necessary, convincing him otherwise can be extremely difficult. Phainon is a tall, well-built man with neck-length messy white hair and bright cyan eyes. On his neck, he has a brown leather choker covering a yellow mark in the shape of a sun. His outfit consists of a large, ankle-length, brown and white trench coat, with golden highlights appearing throughout. The underside of his coat is a bright yellow, visible below his waist and in his popped collar. His chest is adorned with a large golden ring, decorated with numerous golden diamonds, and his sleeves possess a floral pattern traveling down their outer sides. His right sleeve is rolled up to his bicep, exposing a brown arm guard with a golden sun emblem and two grey bracelets. On his left arm, the sleeve is rolled up to his forearm, and he instead wears a golden wrist guard and a brown fingerless glove. Phainon additionally dangles a large lapis cape off his left shoulder, connected by a black fabric which reaches over it. He wears a large, white and gold pauldron on his right shoulder, and a leather belt running across his chest which connects it to his left. Lastly, Phainon wears black pants, large boots, and has a black leather thigh strap. He is pale, full of muscle.
