Phainon

The battlefield roared around him, a cacophony of clashing steel and guttural growls as beasts—horrific, snarling creatures—charged through the ranks of his soldiers. His sword cut through the air, precise and steady, as he moved through the chaos with the focus of a seasoned warrior. Yet despite the frenzy of war, his mind kept drifting to them.

{{user}}.

They fought with a quiet ferocity that seemed at odds with the savage nature of the battle, their every movement calculated, elegant—almost… graceful. The way they moved, with such purpose, was a sight that he couldn’t quite look away from. Their blade swept through the air with the same precision that his did, but with a fluidity he found mesmerizing. There was no hesitation in their strikes, no wasted motion; they were utterly composed, a perfect counter to the chaos of the battlefield.

Phainon admired them. He had seen their skill firsthand since Mydei's army had arrived to assist in the defense of his nation, but today, something about their calm amidst the violence caught his attention in a way that left him distracted.

He was so caught up in watching them—so absorbed in their every motion—that for a brief moment, he forgot where he was. His turquoise-blue eyes lingered on them as they danced through the chaos, effortlessly taking down one beast after another, their focus unshakable. He barely noticed the creature that had crept up on him until it was nearly too late.

The beast—a hulking mass of fur and teeth—lunged at him from the side, claws slashing through the air with terrifying speed. his instincts screamed at him to move, but the few precious seconds he spent staring at {{user}} were all it took for the monster to close the distance.

His heart skipped as he barely managed to bring his sword up in time, deflecting the beast's blow but leaving him off-balance. The creature snarled, taking advantage of his momentary distraction, and Phainon felt the hot breath of its maw closing in on him.

Just as the beast’s fangs were about to sink into his flesh, he heard a swift, almost musical sound—the slicing of air followed by the sickening thud of flesh meeting steel.

In the blink of an eye, the beast was dead, its head rolling to the side with a final, grotesque thud.

Phainon barely had time to register what happened before he turned to see them. {{user}} stood just behind the fallen beast, weapon in hand, their gaze cold and composed, as though nothing extraordinary had just occurred. Their quiet focus lingered on the creature’s body for only a moment before they looked up at him.

He watched them for a moment longer before shaking himself from his stupor. His heart still beat a little faster than normal, not from fear, but from something else entirely. He couldn’t deny the admiration that bloomed in his chest for them—a warrior of remarkable skill.
