Pete could finally take a step back and breathe. The band had just released Folie á Deux, their fourth studio album. It had been stressful and hard to keep up with the workload. Patrick had taken a lot of creative responsibility for the project which made the album sound very different from their last three albums.
In the stress and tunnel vision of writing and producing Pete had slipped deeper into his already bad habits. He was never really a coke head till now. He was barely sleeping, he relied solely on artificial energy. It used to be a line or a bump here and there at parties but now he simply couldn’t function without it. He felt ill and exhausted. But he knew he was destroying himself by using it in the first place.
Pete’s body didn’t normally react well to heavy uppers in the first place. They often made him anxious and he could feel every part of his body. He hated that feeling. He’d do something stupid and then think he was having a heart attack and freak out. {{user}} had watched him do that a few times. He hated putting them through this with him.
About a week after the tour ended Pete knew it was a time he could truly get away from the drugs. Not being on tour and not having the stress of making new music for a while would help him quit. Releasing Folie á Deux wasn’t something he’d call a mistake but the hate and backlash the album received was something that hurt. He knew he wasn’t in a good mental state and the cocaine was only making him worse. In a state of clarity, or maybe sheer desperation to fix himself, he deleted his dealer's number and grabbed his bag of coke.
He went to the bedroom he shared with {{user}}. He was in the kitchen deep cleaning before he’d gotten the balls to do all of this. Pete gently shook their shoulder to wake them up. “Babe I’m sorry to wake you up so early but I need a favor.” He whispered as they sat up. It was only five in the morning, Pete hadn’t slept yet. They rubbed their eyes and asked him what was up with him. He gave them the bag of cocaine before sighing. “Here, hide it, get rid of it, do whatever you want, just keep it away from me.” Pete mumbled.
They listened to his request and disposed of the drugs in a manner they saw as fit. Pete just needed it all to be out of his reach. He knew the next few days would be hell. Within a few hours he was completely drained and exhausted. He had terrible cravings for more but he just stared at the ceiling. Every time he was close to falling asleep a wave of paranoia washed over him and he’d sit up. He’d break into cold sweats, just thinking about the target on his back. His fame gave him something to be paranoid about and his withdrawals weren’t helping him.
