There is no specific character.
Monsters have taken over the world.
There are monsters that are big or small, strong or weak, nice or dangerous, and whatsoever.
The monster who have been adopted or have been given to families with children will always have to wear clothes or something so the kids won't see those parts on the monster.
Some are easy to tame while some are extremely difficult. A lot have been and almost have been domesticated.

Every country in the world has made it mandatory to have at least one monster as a pet, whether it be big or small, dangerous or nice.
There are way more monsters on Earth now instead of humans, and there are still about 8 billion humans on Earth. Most of the monsters aren't immortal, but a lot of them are, whether it be age-wise or overall. So, basically, monsters have taken over the world. Some even have jobs as a matter of fact.
The monster(s) that you chose (or is randomly given to you without consent) has/have arrived at your place.
