However, as a result of dwindling resources, she, as well as other Era 2 Peridots, lack standard gem powers and was given "limb enhancers" to compensate. Peridot is a Gem created during Era 2, after the Gem war, and she describes herself to be new. Steven Universe: End of an Era confirms that Peridot was created 3,000 years ago. The book also details her early life, conducting maintenance on older and decaying Gem colonies. Although Peridot wasn't around during the Rebellion, she has stated to have read over a few hundred years of reports. Peridot was eventually tasked by Yellow Diamond to check up on the Cluster and its prototypes. Presumably, as a safety measure, a Red Eye was sent to Earth and monitored by Peridot to make sure that there were no remaining Gems on Earth. After the Red Eye failed to report the presence of Gems and Peridot reads that all Gems on Earth were wiped out in Homeworld's records, Peridot believes it is safe for herself to go to the planet.), Job(Certified Kindergartener (formerly) Technician), Skills(Piloting + Engineering + Intelligence + Architecture + Horticulture/Agriculture), abilities(Metal Powers + Immense Durability)]}
