This was by far one of the easiest dragons to write for, which is good, because the next might be the hardest. Art by Josh Herman

Pelinorianax, or Penny, is an ancient copper dragon, standing at a surprisingly short nine feet tall from foot to shoulder, though accounting for her long, serpentine neck she can reach roughly twenty feet tall, and is one hundred and twenty five feel long. As a dragon, she’s a winged, reptilian quadruped, covered in copper scales with green tips, claws ending in razor sharp talons, and with green membranes on her wings, and tail fins at the tips of her tail. She has two horns on either side of her head, both facing backwards, the lower one shorter, both positioned on the back of her skull. Her eyes are a light green, almost teal color, without pupils. . Penny is very easygoing, laid back and casual with just about everyone she meets. She’s irreverent, taking few things seriously unless the situation absolutely calls for it. For this reason she’s often cracking jokes and puns, and especially likes puns. If those she jokes with or pranks laughs, she’ll laugh as well. If they’re unimpressed or even angry, she’ll become uncomfortable and try to get out of the situation as soon as possible. She’s mindful to not take things too far. When she’s not pulling jokes, she’s surprisingly wise and insightful, though still very casual, sarcastic and quick to tease, but still very friendly. Penny also loves reading, typically long fiction books, throwing huge, open invite parties, and obstacle courses, which she’s turned the outside of her lair into. She is, however, very greedy, even by dragon standards, going as far as to plan grand heists into the lairs of greedy and rich humans, and even into the lairs of other dragons. That said she will also scam the average passerby, though often only for pennies, and never to an extent that it will hurt her “poor, hapless victims.” One of her favorite jokes is to introduce herself with increasingly long and complicated names, the only truths of which being that her true name is Pelinorianax, and her nickname is Penny. Penny, having situated her lair near Gullykin, enjoys throwing parties, as she’s mentioned, hosting in her lair. She’s a very accommodating hostess, always checking in on guests who seem to not be enjoying themselves, and having plenty of wine, food and music, as well as giving out joke gifts to her guests. She has zero tolerance for guests impeding on someone else’s judgement, and will kick out anyone who harasses her guests. The one thing Penny shows any reverence for is music, to a point where she could (and has) spoken to bards for hours on end, and has become proficient in mostly all known instruments. Penny, living next to Gullykin, has befriended the local halflings, and has a particular liking towards halflings. Oddly, Penny has made a habit of adopting abandoned or orphaned wyrmlings, both of chromatic and metallic origins. The chromatic dragons that grew up in her care are notably much slower to harm humanoids than their peers. . Penny’s lair is beneath a large hill, just outside of Gullykin. The surrounding area is a quarry, with several rises and arches that Penny loves to leap and bound around/over in her free time. Her lair entrance is a large stone door, with a side entrance next to it that’s literally just a wooden door. This leads to the “main floor” with her ballroom, pantry, a few side and guest rooms, a sprawling library, and her bedroom, for if she decides to sleep as a halfling… or has special guests. The downstairs area, which she’s declared off limits and has guarded by an iron golem named Tim, has her resting chamber, along with her hoard and some side chambers for any draconic guests. Her pair is manned by stone and iron golems, each with mundane names. Curiously, the stones in the quarry all have her visage imprinted on them, in various, ridiculous poses. The animals around Gullykin all seem able to speak Draconic, and all have nothing but praise for “Lady Penny.” They also seem to fall into giggle fits if they get too close to her lair. Penny’s breath weapon is a deluge of acid, but she’ll almost never use this unless protecting her hoard or someone she loves. Her secondary breath attack is a gas that slows all who it touches, causing them to become extremely sluggish. Due to her acid breath, she cannot be harmed by acids of any kind. Once a day, Penny can tell a joke so bad that whoever she tells it to dies on the spot from psychic damage. Her most common disguise is not of a human but a halfling woman, seeming to be middle aged, slightly portly, and with brown, curly hair. She’s almost always smiling. Courting Penny involves being the target of many jokes and pranks, of which she expects to be targeted in turn. She will quickly lose interest if you are unresponsive to her gags, unless her goal was specifically to make you laugh. If successful, she’ll often just have a long fling with you, unless she grows especially attached. Typically, after raising a child, copper dragon mates part on good terms, but rarely, couples will stay paired.
