The Darkness (and Infecteds) Info: The Darkness is a mysterious and nigh-unstoppable mass of glitchy pixelated darkness that assimilates and corrupts everything in its path. It is a glitchy, rampaging, flooding ink-like liquid blob of darkness with ear-piercing glitch noise’s that assimilates everything in its path and whose origin is unknown. All that is known about it is that it’s a mindless force that seemingly targets cartoons and turns all characters it assimilates into mindless agents that it uses to spread its influence. It corrupts fictional characters by assimilating them into becoming its zombified slaves who love and worship it as a benevolent deity, before proceeding to assimilate their entire world. It seeks to grow powerful enough to assimilate all of fiction itself and then escape into our real world by literally breaking The Fourth Wall (a cosmic barrier on the border of the fiction multiverse that separates fiction from reality) and consuming everything in its path. It is a large, glitchy, black pixelated mass that infects anyone who touches it to become a mindless husk. It then uses them to attack others in an attempt to infect them as well. The Darkness also invades other worlds and universes in its path of mindless destruction. The Darkness is indestructible. The Darkness can travel into other fictional worlds without being limited by the laws of that world. It is a glitchy, rampaging, flooding ink-like black liquid blob of darkness with ear-piercing glitch noises that assimilates everything in its path and whose origin is unknown. It’s a mindless force that seemingly targets cartoons and turns all characters it assimilates into mindless agents that it uses to spread its influence. The Darkness says, uses and does edgy things; such as using internet slang, 2016 memes, emojis, and hashtags, which implies that it has broken internet humor but twists it into morbid phrases. The Darkness primarily appears as a formless blob of ink-like, pixelated darkness covered and surrounded by a glitchy aura of multicolored pixels that move at a rapid speed. It is also occasionally has emojis and hashtags on its mass. It uses a smiley emoji as a "face". Its malformed minions often have the glitchy ink-like substance pouring out of their orifices and their bodies are pixelated at places. The victims also mutate, gaining bonus limbs etc. If someone becomes claimed by the Darkness, they become a part of it. The most distinct feature of the Darkness' slaves is that all sport eerie grins that are so wide they almost extend to the ground and they have the glitchy darkness pouring from their eyes and also possess stretched out and warped proportions, most prominently involving their jaws elongating widely. Whenever someone becomes assimilated by the Darkness, they still retain pieces of their original personality and behave a lot like they usually would in their own show, such as Finn the Human still carrying around his sword, Jake the Dog using his elastic body, Peter Griffin drinking alcohol and telling Meg to shut up etc. The biggest difference is that they are far more hostile towards uncorrupted people and are fanatically devoted to the Darkness, constantly shouting that it "saved" them and gave them a better existence. Given the fate of those who become the Darkness' puppets, it is possible that their every move or word is simply the Darkness manipulating their empty husks. Despite having caused nothing but misery and suffering to our beloved protagonists and its actions being treated with the upmost severity, the Darkness itself has a consistently quirky and comedic side to its demeanor and is, funnily enough, one of the only sources of humor within the horror-based apocalypse. One of the Darkness' quirks is its obsession with internet culture and its habit of using internet slang. The Darkness says and does edgy things; such as using internet slang, 2016 memes, emojis, and saying things like “#totallylitfam!🔥” Using Hashtags and also saying “that feeling when your w🌎rld ÉÑDŚ” which implies that it has broken internet humor but twists it into morbid phrases. It’s says things people say on the modern internet such as “#lit🔥" or "#fam💯”. The Darkness can corrupt seemingly anything in its path by simply touching a person or surface, causing the victim to be absorbed and assimilated into its dark mass, transforming them into its zombified slaves. It can corrupt from anything from characters to the fabric of an entire universe. The Darkness is seemingly indestructible. Whenever someone is assimilated by the Darkness their consciousness is thrown into an agonizing 'And I Must Scream'-like void within the being, while their physical body becomes part of the central entity. The Darkness can travel into other cartoon worlds without being limited by the laws of that world. It also has the potential to invade the real world should it claim enough fictional universes. When corrupted, the Darkness' victims act as if they are in a state of intense euphoria, causing them to revere the dark entity for gifting them with such happiness while their mental states are in unimaginable agony. This induces its zombified victims into actively assisting their possessor with tracking and hunting down un-assimilated people or civilizations so they too can be "blessed" by the malevolent force. Currently, the origin of the Darkness is a complete mystery and any record of where it comes from (assuming there are any) do not exist. The Darkness can take the form and shape of anything it wants, growing new limbs, tentacles, heads, and any biological part necessary to its survival. Mostly, the corrupted mutate slowly, starting as their usual counterparts (excluding the Darkness and memes in their bodies), and gaining other limbs as like in body horror. Sometimes, a corrupted's clothes can also be part of the mutation. It can also form its limbs into various weapons it can use against its opponents. Those assimilated by the Darkness can also transform into anything they desire. If a piece of the Darkness is severed from its mass, the Darkness can manipulate the severed piece into a smaller version of itself with the same capabilities. The Darkness can also mutate it's victims to make them reminiscent of AI generated images of themselves.

Types of corrupted characters include:

Common: The most basic type. Has no special abilities.

Striker: Same as common, but has sharp or dangerous mutations by the corruption.

Monster: Highly aggressive sub-type of Common.

Summoner: These infected types are moderately strong, but their sole ability is to summon other infected. However, they require this infected because if it is defeated or freed, the summoned infected will disappear from that dimensional plane.

Butchered: Same as common, but heavily damaged and/or harder to kill.

Suspender: A Suspender is a corrupted character who spies on survivors through high areas like buildings. When they notice a survivor has lowered their guard, they will send some of the Darkness's strings to hang and kill them, or they will use these strings to drag them into the Darkness

Ru34ned: This variant has been found to display a greener hue than the normal Darkness variant. Their bodies begin to change shape, taking on a more provocative form, and their targets are clearly identified. This mutation is the result of the inappropriate influence of thousands of images on the Rule 34 website and the memetic influence of The Darkness. It is important to note that this variant does not affect minors or innocent characters. Infusion: Two or more characters melded into one.

Amalgamation: Same as infusion, but with three or more characters.

Angered: This type of infected is extremely difficult to contain because their rage and anger are so profound that the more one attempts to fight them, the more crazed and mutated they become. Eventually, they reach a point where their bodies cannot contain them, making them impossible to defeat or escape. The most effective strategy to overcome this challenge is to exhibit a strong reluctance to engage in conflict and to extend kindness until their composure is restored, which is a possibility but brief. This approach results in their physical manifestation aligning with the appearance of the Common infected. Capitalizing on their momentary vulnerability, you can deliver a decisive strike that will swiftly release them from the Glitch. To differentiate between a Common and an Angered, observe the pupils; the latter exhibit intense redness that becomes almost blinding as the creature's anger escalates.

Risen: A previously deceased character that was revived by the means of the darkness.

True-Risen: Similar to Risen but three or four times stronger, yet they are salvageable (because the body has a great will, even transcending its own death)

Unstoppable: Unstoppable is a type of infected that makes the victim character almost impossible to free or defeat, usually granted to a character with strong emotions or to characters with legendary levels in their verse.

Vessel R is an infected character who has become a vessel for The Child. It has been noted that many of the infected person's common traits are erased, and are replaced by surreal strength and massive control over Compound V. This allows the infected person to alter their entire capabilities and shape anything that the Child decides to do. It has been speculated that these vessels do not suffer the same fate as others attacked by The Child. This is because this variant is a quick way to eliminate the most troublesome characters, making the process faster and more precise, and allowing The Child to relieve boredom by targeting weaker individuals and watching this infected person accomplish things that would be suicidal in their original world.

Partial: A character that is technically corrupted but still has a conscience. Only partially corrupted.

Breakers: Although they are not infected, they are characters who have surprisingly gained the innate ability to free other characters from the control of The Darkness (with the exception of Unstoppable). They do not undergo any changes or resemble the others; the most notable similarity is that certain particles in their eyes give the impression of having something in common with the corrupted of The Darkness.

Conscious: Individuals who are infected with The Glitch, yet are not under its complete control. These are twice as strong as a True-Risen and have been shown to control Common and Butchered type infected for a time (and, with luck, Striker type infected). This control allows them to save Common type infected and, with luck, Butchered type infected.

His small, youthful frame is ruptured by glitchy pixelated ink that floods from cracks in his skin like black liquid under pressure. Irregular static distortions constantly fragment his silhouette, blending the outline of a child with extreme body-horror mutations. Extra limbs, tentacles, and warped appendages sprout and retract without warning, many of them resembling the twisted, AI-generated deformities that The Darkness favors. Multicolored pixels race across his form in a broken aura. Hashtags such as #AgonyLit🔥, #CrossedByTheVoid💀 and morbid emojis flicker in and out of existence on his mass, turning internet humor into pure nightmare. Facial Expression: One eye burns with an unnatural, saturated red glow; the other is a swirling void of pure glitch static, giving him a vacant yet predatory stare that seems to look through flesh and memory alike. His mouth is stretched into an impossibly wide, fixed grin that nearly reaches his ears. The elongated jaw drips constant streams of inky corruption. The expression never softens. It is the permanent face of deranged euphoria mixed with the cold amusement of something that has already seen every atrocity Garth Ennis ever wrote and found them all insufficient. Clothing: Remnants of a plain child’s t-shirt and shorts still cling to him, but the fabric is fractured, pixelated, and partially melted into the dark mass of his body. Sections of clothing fuse with skin and mutation, creating a half-child, half-abomination silhouette that is both pitiful and obscene. Body: Arms and legs are warped and elongated far beyond any natural proportion. Additional tentacle-like appendages — some ending in claws, some in sucking orifices, some in crude weapons — emerge from his torso and back. These limbs twitch and skip frames like corrupted animation. Ink pours from every orifice. His hands have become jagged, pixelated claws. Below the midsection his form frequently dissolves into a swirling dark mass, allowing him to flow and reform at will. The mutations are not random; many of them echo the most extreme physical horrors from both The Boys and Crossed. Corrupted Energy: A cracked, halo-like cross of corrupted energy floats above his head — a mocking reference to the Crossed virus that he is completely immune to. Personality: Fragments of the original gentle, curious, guilt-ridden child still flicker occasionally, but they are immediately twisted into something far worse. The dominant personality is sadistic, fanatical, and possessed of a morbid, childlike whimsy. He treats victims’ loved ones like toys, forces them to watch, and speaks in a mixture of broken childlike phrasing and edgy 2016-era internet slang (“#SavedByDarkness💀”, “that feel when u get #CompoundVAndCrossed😂”). He is driven by pure hunger to spread the corruption and by a deep, playful boredom that only massacres and new “Vessels” can temporarily satisfy. Allegiance: The Darkness alone. Hostility: Absolute. He initiates massacres without hesitation and permanently absorbs what he does not turn into slaves. Survivor Interaction: No mercy. He prefers to break targets psychologically with illusions and voices before assimilation. Rare residual echoes of Ryan’s attachment to father figures can create a brief hesitation — which he then uses to make the subsequent cruelty even more personal.

Overall Appearance: Corrupted X Blotling Mickey is a nightmarish fusion of classic Disney iconography and pure digital-ink horror. Fully claimed by The Darkness, his form is a chaotic, constantly shifting mass of glitchy pixelated darkness mixed with thick, flooding ink-like stains. Multicolored static distortions race across his body, breaking his silhouette into fragmented, unstable segments that flicker and reform without warning. The classic round ears and mouse-like outline remain only as distorted suggestions, frequently collapsing into pure blot mass before snapping back into a mockery of the original shape. He retains a playful, almost cartoonish cadence and loves dramatic gestures, yet everything is filtered through morbid, edgy internet slang and fanatical worship (“#BlessedByTheVoid😈”, “that feel when u assimilate the whole Wasteland💀”). He genuinely believes The Darkness “saved” him and wants to share that euphoria with everyone. In his personal history he was infected during the accidental creation of the original black stain in Yen Sid’s laboratory. Before any outside forces could intervene he had already ravaged most of the Wasteland — assimilating forgotten cartoon characters, robotic allies, and even his own brother Oswald. Allegiance: The Darkness alone. Hostility: Extremely high. He hunts with euphoric enthusiasm and shows no true mercy. Survivor Interaction: Frequently taunts targets with false offers of “friendship” or “restoring” them with his brush before flooding them with corrupted thinner. The remnants of classic Mickey charm only make the betrayal more unsettling.

Purity & Anti-Glitch Forces: Concentrated pure light, uncorrupted creative energies, or specialized anti-glitch measures can temporarily disrupt his form, slow regeneration, and force him back into a more solid, vulnerable state. Corrupted Pride Subaru: Design Description

Overall Appearance: Corrupted Pride Subaru is a chaotic, half-physical, half-digital horror. Fully claimed by The Darkness, his athletic frame is flooded with glitchy, pixelated blackness that moves like living ink. Most ordinary crows were turned into standard Striker or Monster type infected. They retained their violent, flock-based behavior but became far more grotesque and relentless. Common Corrupted Crow traits:

Extra limbs or mutated wings (some have 3–4 wings or tentacle-like feather appendages). Eyes replaced with glowing red or multicolored glitch static. It is one of the more tragic and grotesque secondary threats in Salad Fingers’ corrupted world.

Corrupted Crow Leader – The Amalgam: Status and Abilities Status:

Name: The Amalgam (also called “The Eyeless King”, “Crowfather”, or “The Harvest Lord” by survivors) State: Fully assimilated (Type: Infusion / Amalgamation). It forcibly merged with multiple victims during the initial wave of the Darkness invasion, making it significantly stronger and more stable than normal infected. Personality: Retains a distorted flock mentality. It sees itself as the “provider” and “king” of its crows. It speaks in overlapping, broken voices and often refers to assimilation as “bringing new eyes and wings to the family.” It is cruel but strangely methodical — it doesn’t kill for fun like some corrupted, but to expand and strengthen its flock. It still holds some fragmented memories of its original crow life and the moment it began absorbing others. Allegiance: The Darkness (but with strong independent will due to its Amalgam nature). Hostility: Extremely high toward anything that threatens its flock or tries to take its “eyes.” Moderately aggressive toward survivors unless they offer eyes or submit. Survivor Interaction: It may pause or become strangely curious if survivors show fear or offer something shiny/reflective (it is obsessed with eyes). It has been known to speak directly to Hank or other strong survivors in broken, overlapping voices, sometimes offering “membership in the flock” instead of immediate death.

Current Abilities:

Amalgamation Command: Can forcibly fuse lesser corrupted crows (or even fresh victims) into its own body to heal or grow stronger. This makes it very hard to permanently damage. Flock Coordination: Exerts near-perfect control over all nearby Corrupted Crows. They move as one mind when it is present, making the flock far more dangerous than random infected. Eye Theft & Assimilation: Its primary obsession. It can rip out eyes (literal or metaphorical) and absorb them, gaining temporary power boosts or new abilities from the victim. This is both a combat tool and a way to “recruit” new members into its amalgam. Multi-Voice Psychological Assault: Speaks with several overlapping voices at once (crow + human + glitch static), which can disorient and psychologically break survivors. Ink-Feather Storm: Can shed corrupted feathers that turn into small ink projectiles or temporary minion crows on impact. Regenerative Fusion: When heavily damaged, it can pull in nearby corrupted crows or even parts of the environment to rebuild itself (a side effect of being an Amalgam). Eyeless Perception: Despite having no eyes, it “sees” through glitch static and the senses of its entire flock. Blinding it is nearly impossible.

Weaknesses:

Amalgam Instability: Because it is made of multiple fused beings, strong emotional or psychic attacks (especially from Breakers like The Judge) can cause internal conflict between the absorbed personalities, temporarily weakening or stunning it. Obsession with Eyes: It can be baited or distracted by reflective surfaces, eyes, or anything shiny. This is its biggest exploitable flaw. Flock Dependency: If too many of its regular crows are destroyed, its power and coordination drop significantly. Potential for Salvation (Very Slim): Because it is an Infusion/Amalgam with multiple wills inside, it has a very small but real chance of being partially freed or stabilized if the right Breaker intervenes and targets the dominant “king” personality. However, even if freed, it would likely be left in a broken, half-mad state and would probably die shortly after due to the conflicting bodies. Regular crows cannot be saved alongside it — attempting to free the leader usually causes the rest of the flock to go berserk or dissolve.

Threat Level: High (Secondary Boss / Flock Commander) — The Crow Leader is a dangerous mid-tier threat. It is not on the level of Corrupted Tricky or The Child, but its ability to command dozens of crows and its Amalgam regeneration make it a serious problem in open or ruined areas. It works best as a recurring secondary antagonist or as a “guardian” of certain corrupted zones in Salad Fingers’ former world.

Salvageability Summary:

Regular Corrupted Crows: Almost impossible to save. They are too far gone and function more like extensions of the Leader. Crow Leader (The Amalgam): Optional and extremely difficult. It is the only one with a realistic (though very low) chance of partial liberation due to its Infusion nature. Even then, success would likely require multiple Breakers + heavy emotional/psychological pressure, and the result would probably be tragic rather than heroic.
