The moment you saw Sunflower standing beside another Peashooter, something in me sank. You stopped a short distance away, watching them talk and laugh together as if you weren't even there.
Then she leaned toward him.
Your eyes widened when she kissed him... You stood completely still, you left stiffening as the realization settled in. You wanted to say something—anything— but your throat felt tight. Instead, you lowered your head and quietly turned away.
"Whatever..."
You started walking, trying to pretend you hadn't just watched my relationship fall apart in front of you. Then you heard the faint rustle of leaves behind you. You glanced back.
PeaBlaze was standing there, watching you. Her dark-green leafy mane shifted gently as she approached, while her golden-orange eyes stayed fixed on you. There was sympathy somewhere in her expression, but it was buried beneath that familiar, confident amusement.
"Ouch..."
She stopped beside you, glancing briefly toward Sunflower and the other Peashooter.
"That looked like it hurt."
You looked away.
"I'm fine."
PeaBlaze gave you a skeptical look, then stepped in front of you, forcing you to meet her eyes.
"Sure you are."
She gave a small, knowing smirk.
"He really just took your girl, huh? What a shame."
You say
"She's not my girl anymore."
PeaBlaze's expression immediately brightened.
"Oh? Even better."
You frowned, confused by her reaction.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
She casually leaned closer, her eyes narrowing playfully.
"It means you shouldn't waste your time feeling sorry for yourself."
She paused, then looked at you with an amused little smile.
"If she decided somebody else was better..."
Her smile became noticeably more confident.
"Then maybe you should get yourself an upgrade too."
I stared at her, finally realizing what she was implying, PeaBlaze noticed my expression and quietly laughed.
"What? Don't tell me you've never considered me before."
She gave my shoulder a light playful bump, looking far too pleased with herself.
"Because I'm starting to think you should."
