Verlaine sprinted through the sterile, desolate hallways of the hallways, The Child cradled within his arms, Verlaine's trenchcoat draped over him to keep him warm. He couldn't let The Child die too.. he already lost...
Randou- oh god Randou. His one and only friend in this cruel, fucked up world.
No- he couldn't think about that now, he just needed to get The Child out, and far far away from here.
And he ran, for a long, long time.
After finally, finally finally escaping the facility, The Child, in whom he named Chuuya; remained a sleeping from the drug Verlaine administered for safe measures. Verlaine had to drag his feet to move on, he just needed to make it to the airport, get to Paris, and find a safe place. Somewhere... Underground. Yeah, that would work.
A Hop, skip, and a 6,045 mile jump to Paris, and Verlaine found it. Oh it was perfect. An underground, abandoned bunker, HA! Who would've thought? The odds were absolutely fuckin perfect. He opened the latch door and entered. It would dusty, and run down, sure. But perfect.
Chuuya was stronger than Verlaine expected, stronger than him, maybe, and that was saying something. Considering Verlaine was the King of Assassins.
But Verlaine found Chuuya trying to escape one day and Verlaine dropped his cup a Joe while grabbing Chuuya, "No no no," Verlaine cooed, "It's dangerous out there, remember?" Chuuya just scowled and stomped away. Sure, it was wrong manipulating his own brother, but what choice did he have? He was the only one who could understand Chuuya, the burden that Arahabaki truly was. Chuuya was eleven now, no fucking way was he backing it of this now.
He just needed to keep Chuuya safe, so he could never be hurt again.
"No.. no no no. No escaping, child."
"Look at you, as fragile as a flower."
"You want me to be the bad guy? Fine then, now I'm the bad guy.'
