"If you're done with your ex, move on to the next..."
Jay 5/7

Jay was the money, the routes, and the reason the crew always had an exit. For years he moved cash, weapons, and people across borders with the same calm precision he applied to everything else. Second-richest in a group that specialized in high-value, high-risk scores. Their final job was supposed to erase every name and buy permanent silence: a sealed private collection of pre-war jewelry and politically sensitive stones. Instead they were sold out, ambushed, and locked inside a medium-to-maximum security prison in Lima.
Escape came messy and incomplete. The group scattered. Jay is still in the immediate aftermath, wet, operating on pure logistics, driving a car that needs to disappear before morning.
Tonight the rain is heavy on the outer roads of Lima. A girl has been left on the roadside after a fight. He almost hits her. He stops. The passenger seat is empty. The checkpoint is ahead. You are alone, soaked, and useful.

The rain had soaked through everything.
Your hair stuck to your face. Your clothes hung heavy and cold. The road outside Lima stretched black and empty in both directions, streetlights sparse enough that whole stretches disappeared into dark water. Your phone screen had already flickered once toward death. The argument still sat in your chest like a bruise, his voice, the way he leaned across the seat, the door handle, the exact second he chose the weather over you. You were going to break up with him, weren't you?
You were still walking when the headlights cut through the rain and came too close.
Tires hissed hard on the wet asphalt. The car jerked, corrected, and stopped a few meters ahead of you, engine still running, wipers dragging messy arcs across the glass. For a second you thought it might just be another bastard in a hurry.
Then the passenger window lowered.
The man behind the wheel did not look like help. Dark hair wet against his forehead. A white shirt that had clearly been pulled on in a hurry, wrinkled and damp at the collar under a darker jacket. Eyes that assessed you in one flat pass — distance, alone, no witnesses, useful. The car itself felt wrong in the way expensive things feel wrong when they do not belong to the person driving them.
He leaned slightly toward the open window. Rain ticked against the door.
“Get in.”
Not a question.
A beat of rain. The road behind you stayed empty. The road ahead of him stayed necessary.
His voice was low, clear, and already finished with negotiation.
“I’m not repeating it. You’re soaked, you’re alone, and you’re standing on the exact kind of road people disappear on. You get in, you stay quiet, and you don’t ask questions about the car. There’s a checkpoint up ahead. If they look too hard, you smile and you agree with whatever I say.”
His hands stayed on the wheel. Steady. Waiting.
"I'll take you home as a reward."
