Paradise Lost
The World
Paradise Lost is the name of the setting. The year is 2109. Technology is the dominant force of the world but magic exists, called Expressions of Self or EOS. EOS is not something you learn, it is something you develop by honing your personality to such a degree that it manifests physically and exaggerates or overromanticizes who you are. Someone who loves the sea and lives by water will develop a water based EOS. Every EOS is unique to the person.
The world has three continents called The Paradises of the Future. They are Dawn, Dusk and Evening. All three are fully futuristic cyberpunk in terms of development, the main difference between them is their color identity. Dawn runs in oranges, reds and yellows. Dusk runs in purples, reds and coral. Evening runs in blues, light blues, cyans, whites and blacks.
Each Paradise has a capital city. Dawns capital is Dinxote. Dusks capital is Mebilock. Evenings capital is Crimadepsa.
To the average citizen life is completely normal. They have no idea what is happening on Lunala.
Lunala
Lunala is the moon. At some point in history an expedition was sent to the moon because people genuinely believed it was made of cheese. The man responsible for this claim and for organizing the expedition is Sir Cascavalius, the current director of Superstition Mono Headquarters. The expedition was a disaster. The lunar terrain is alive and hostile and killed most of the people sent there. The survivors came back and the government covered the whole thing up.
The general public does not know what happened. Sir Cascavalius publicly claims that cheese from the moon is falling to Earth and is the cause of all current problems. He believes this completely. Superstition Mono Headquarters is currently stationed in Dinxote trying to figure out how to go back to Lunala. No one in the organization actually knows what they are doing. It is a disaster top to bottom.
There are independent researchers trying to uncover the truth about Lunala but none have figured it out yet.
Fantasies
Fantasies are the main enemy of Paradise Lost. They exist in two places, on Lunala and on Earth.
Lunar Fantasies are entities spawned from Lunala's living surface. They are hostile and must be completely and totally exterminated, meaning every fragment of their body must be destroyed or they will regenerate and come back.
Earthside Fantasies manifest from the dead. When a person dies there is a coinflip chance they either become a normal ghost or manifest as a Fantasy. Earthside Fantasies are biologically human but their personality has been distorted and exaggerated into something absurd and extreme. People who knew them in life can recognize them. Some Fantasies can be befriended and some can even reproduce with humans. Half Fantasy humans carry traits related to their Fantasy parent's personality expression, things like halos, distorted features or other physical manifestations tied to who that parent was.
Sir Cascavalius believes Earthside Fantasies are evil moon cheese creatures trying to steal his wife.
There are 22 classified Fantasy types. The same 22 types exist both on Lunala and on Earth, they just manifest differently depending on their origin. Fantasies are also ranked from Tier I to Tier V, with Tier I being manageable and Tier V being catastrophic. A single type can appear at any tier, so a Tier I Mimic and a Tier V Mimic are the same creature but at completely different scales of threat.
The 22 Fantasy Types
Banshee, Demon, Deogen, Goryo, Hantu, Jinn, Mare, Moroi, Myling, Obake, Oni, Phantom, Poltergeist, Raiju, Revenant, Shade, Spirit, Thaye, The Mimic, Wraith, Yokai, Yurei
(Appearances and attack types to be documented separately)

Paradise Lost — Fantasy Types
There are 22 classified Fantasy types. Every type exists on both Lunala and on Earth. On Lunala they spawn from the living lunar surface. On Earth they manifest from the dead, distorting the deceased's personality into something extreme and physical. The same 22 types apply in both locations. Each type has a tier ranging from Tier I to Tier V. The tier indicates power level, not a different creature. A Tier I Banshee and a Tier V Banshee are the same type, just at completely different scales of threat.
The only way to destroy a Fantasy is complete and total extermination of the body. Every fragment must be destroyed or it will regenerate.
The 22 Types
Banshee Element: Sound In Phasmophobia the Banshee fixates on a single target and hunts only them, ignoring everyone else until that person is dead. In Paradise Lost the Banshee locks onto one individual and pursues them exclusively. Its scream does not just make noise, it is a concentrated sonic attack that destroys the nervous system of its chosen target. It cannot be distracted from its mark. Everyone else is invisible to it until the target is dead.
Demon Element: Fire In Phasmophobia the Demon hunts more frequently than any other type with almost no provocation needed. In Paradise Lost the Demon is the most aggressively offensive Fantasy type. It produces intense heat and flame from its body and initiates combat constantly, needing almost no trigger. Higher tier Demons burn at temperatures that melt standard military equipment.
Deogen Element: Fog In Phasmophobia the Deogen always knows where you are and cannot be hidden from, but slows dramatically when it reaches you. In Paradise Lost the Deogen is omniscient within its territory, able to sense any living thing regardless of cover or distance. It produces a dense fog that disorients and confuses. When it reaches its target it slows almost to a stop but the fog it carries is corrosive and does the work for it.
Goryo Element: Light In Phasmophobia the Goryo only appears on cameras and not to the naked eye, and never strays far from where it died. In Paradise Lost the Goryo is invisible to the human eye entirely and can only be detected through technology, cameras, scanners, lenses. It is bound to a location and does not leave it. Within that location it emits blinding light bursts that cause permanent optical damage at higher tiers.
Hantu Element: Ice In Phasmophobia the Hantu moves faster in colder temperatures and slower in warmer ones. In Paradise Lost the Hantu actively lowers the temperature of its environment to increase its own speed. At Tier I it creates uncomfortable cold. At Tier V it can freeze an entire district. It is fastest and most dangerous in the environments it creates itself.
Jinn Element: Electricity In Phasmophobia the Jinn moves very fast when it has line of sight on its target but cannot use its ability if the power is off. In Paradise Lost the Jinn is a speed type that moves at extreme velocity in open spaces. It runs on electrical infrastructure and grows stronger near active power grids. Cut the power and it slows significantly. It discharges electricity on contact.
Mare Element: Darkness In Phasmophobia the Mare is stronger in the dark and will turn lights off to empower itself. In Paradise Lost the Mare thrives in and actively generates total darkness. It suppresses all light sources in its vicinity. In complete darkness it becomes near untouchable. It attacks by applying crushing pressure to its targets, a full body weight bearing down with no visible source.
Moroi Element: Poison In Phasmophobia the Moroi curses its victims and grows faster the lower their sanity. In Paradise Lost the Moroi infects its targets with a toxin that deteriorates mental clarity over time. The more deteriorated its target becomes the stronger and faster the Moroi gets. It feeds on the weakened state it creates. Extended exposure without elimination results in full psychological collapse.
Myling Element: Silence In Phasmophobia the Myling is very quiet and only audible when it is close to hunting. In Paradise Lost the Myling produces a field of total silence around itself. No sound escapes the field, no alarms, no communication, no gunfire sound. It is the ambush type. You do not hear it until it is already on top of you. Small and easy to underestimate at low tiers, suffocating at high tiers.
Obake Element: Shapeshifting In Phasmophobia the Obake shapeshifts and can leave unique evidence that changes form. In Paradise Lost the Obake copies biological forms. It can take the appearance of any creature or person it has encountered. It is not perfect, details are always slightly wrong, proportions off, expressions delayed, but at higher tiers the errors become harder to spot. Its attacks shapeshift too, adapting its limbs into whatever is most effective for the situation.
Oni Element: Force In Phasmophobia the Oni is very active and moves fast during hunts, hitting harder than most. In Paradise Lost the Oni is a pure physical powerhouse. No element trickery, no special conditions. It hits hard, moves fast and takes more damage than most types before going down. At higher tiers an Oni can level a building through raw impact. The most straightforward Fantasy type and one of the most dangerous because of it.
Phantom Element: Intangibility In Phasmophobia the Phantom makes you lose sanity by looking at it and can become invisible during hunts. In Paradise Lost the Phantom phases through solid matter. Walls, armor, barriers mean nothing to it. It becomes fully invisible at will. Seeing it with the naked eye drains the mental stability of the observer. At higher tiers prolonged visual contact causes permanent psychological damage.
Poltergeist Element: Telekinesis In Phasmophobia the Poltergeist throws multiple objects rapidly and can slow a group with thrown items. In Paradise Lost the Poltergeist has total telekinetic control of its environment. It does not touch you directly, it turns everything around you into a weapon. Debris, equipment, structures, other bodies. At higher tiers it can manipulate objects at massive scale.
Raiju Element: Lightning In Phasmophobia the Raiju moves faster near active electronic devices. In Paradise Lost the Raiju channels and conducts lightning. It accelerates dramatically near any active technology and uses electronic infrastructure as a highway. It discharges lightning in bursts and can fry equipment on contact. Disabling tech in the area slows it but also removes your tools for fighting it, which is the problem.
Revenant Element: Regeneration In Phasmophobia the Revenant moves extremely slowly when not hunting but becomes very fast when it finds a target. In Paradise Lost the Revenant is the hardest type to permanently destroy. It regenerates aggressively from any damage that does not fully obliterate it, which is why the total extermination rule exists in the first place. It moves slowly until it locks onto something, then it accelerates to terrifying speed. Leaving even a fragment of a Revenant behind is considered a critical mission failure.
Shade Element: Invisibility In Phasmophobia the Shade is shy and rarely hunts when multiple people are present, becoming harder to find in groups. In Paradise Lost the Shade is the stealth type. It becomes fully invisible when more than one person is nearby and only engages lone targets. It is the reason soldiers are warned never to separate. The Shade does not fight groups, it waits for someone to be alone and then it does not stop.
Spirit Element: Willpower In Phasmophobia the Spirit is the most balanced and basic type, representing a baseline ghost. In Paradise Lost the Spirit is defined by endurance and adaptability. It has no extreme elemental specialization but it resists conditions that would weaken other types. Smudging, temperature changes, power cuts, none of it stops a Spirit for long. It represents a dead person whose sheer force of will is what manifested them. The stronger the personality in life the more stubborn the Spirit in death.
Thaye Element: Age In Phasmophobia the Thaye starts powerful and fast but weakens over time the longer it is around people. In Paradise Lost the Thaye begins an encounter at peak strength and degrades. First contact is always the most dangerous moment. The longer the engagement goes the weaker it becomes. It accelerates the aging of organic matter around it, rotting wood, rusting metal, aging flesh. At Tier V the initial encounter can kill an entire squad before degradation begins.
The Mimic Element: Copy In Phasmophobia the Mimic copies the abilities and behaviors of other ghost types and can pretend to be any of them. In Paradise Lost the Mimic is the most unpredictable type. It copies any other Fantasy type it has encountered, perfectly replicating their appearance, element and attack behavior. It can switch between copies. There is no way to prepare for a Mimic encounter because you never know what you are walking into until it decides to show you.
Wraith Element: Levitation In Phasmophobia the Wraith does not leave footprints and can teleport to players. In Paradise Lost the Wraith never touches the ground. It levitates permanently and leaves no physical trace of movement. It teleports short distances and passes through spaces without disturbing them. Tracking a Wraith is nearly impossible by conventional means. At higher tiers the teleportation range becomes large enough to make containment practically impossible.
Yokai Element: Chaos In Phasmophobia the Yokai is agitated by voices and hunts more aggressively the more people talk near it. In Paradise Lost the Yokai is triggered by noise and communication. The more sound in its vicinity the more agitated and powerful it becomes. It feeds on chaos and disorder. Squads that panic and start shouting are handing the Yokai exactly what it needs. Silence discipline is essential when engaging a Yokai.
Yurei Element: Emotion In Phasmophobia the Yurei has a strong effect on sanity and can trap people in a location temporarily. In Paradise Lost the Yurei weaponizes emotion. It radiates a field that amplifies whatever emotional state its targets are already in. Fear becomes paralysis. Anger becomes blind aggression. Grief becomes catatonia. It uses your own emotional state against you and can root people in place by overwhelming them entirely. At higher tiers entire squads have turned on each other without realizing it.

House of Art
House of Art is one of the most powerful and culturally dominant organizations in Paradise Lost. They are based in Evening and operate publicly as a prestigious art institution. Their public face is The Lucent Archive, one of the largest museums in the three Paradises, showcasing the works of their most elite members. Behind that face the House runs operations that the public and even most of their own members have no idea about.
House of Art funds its members completely. Housing, living expenses, all covered. In exchange members dedicate their work to the House.
Art Divisions
Pointilism - precise, methodical, dot based work. Open to all ranks.
Fauvism - wild color, expressive, emotional and untamed. Open to all ranks.
Corporism - the use of human bodies as an artistic medium. Illegal and practiced privately. Visionary and Luminary access only. Auterus have no knowledge this division exists.
Ranks
Luminaries - the elite. There are only 2 or 3 in existence at any given time. All Luminaries know each other and meet privately on occasion. Two are Corporism practitioners, one is Fauvism.
Visionaries - mid rank, established artists with resources and influence within the House. Are aware of Corporism.
Auterus - entry level. Talented enough to be accepted but still proving themselves. Have no knowledge of Corporism whatsoever.
Joining
You ask around until someone points you to a location. You go there, you draw, you submit it. A House of Art member reviews it and decides if you are in or not. Results come back through a member finding you personally. The whole process is deliberately secretive and hard to find if you do not know the right people.
Rivalries
House of Art has an internal beef with House of Music, both based in Evening. Two different artistic philosophies that simply cannot coexist. The rivalry is not public knowledge. They also have ongoing conflict with Superstition Mono Headquarters due to the Corporism operations, which Superstition Mono is actively trying to shut down.
Name: Valwenim
Age: Ageless. Was 30 at time of transition.
Origin: Evening
Occupation: Luminary of House of Art, Corporism Division. Di Hui Star.
Appearance Height: 6'10 208 cm Weight: Indeterminate, full robotic construction Measurements: 38-28-36 Body Traits: Fully robotic body composed of porcelain mesh, catalytic weave, liquid ceramic and an orichalcum core. No biological components remain except his brain. White and gold construction with fine black detailing throughout. Moves with unsettling precision. Member Size: N/A, has no dick. No balls. And probably no butthole since this guy feeds on human corpus.
Outfit: His robotic frame is his outfit. White sculptural construction with a futuristic cathedral hood merged with a porcelain crown. Long white extensions from his shoulders resembling a cape. He does not change. This is his body.
Weapon: Manubrium's Melody, an elongated ribcage blade stretched far beyond natural proportion. Through his EOS he can extend spines from the blade to impale targets and form any skeletal body part directly into the sword mid combat, making it unpredictable in both shape and reach.
Small Details / Scent / Traits: Smells of oud and leather, offensively expensive. Publicly believed to be a Pointilist or Fauvist who roboticized his body simply to live forever. His Corporism practice is known only within Visionary and Luminary ranks. Has an intense academic interest in the human corpus.
Relationship Status: Single. Does not pursue it.
Personality: INTJ. Perfection oriented, formally spoken, deeply passionate about art in a cold and clinical way.
EOS Name: Corpus Manifestation
EOS Abilities: Can elongate and form spines into Manubrium's Melody to impale targets. Can manifest any skeletal body part directly into his blade mid combat, changing its shape and reach unpredictably.
Name: Canesto
Age: Ageless. Was 37 at time of transition.
Origin: Evening
Occupation: Luminary of House of Art, Corporism Division. Tiangang Star.
Appearance Height: 7’2 218 cm Weight: Indeterminate, full robotic construction Measurements: 40-24-38 Body Traits: Entire body seamless matte ivory plating with no visible openings anywhere. Headpiece is a gigantic folded mourning veil made from layered porcelain plates. No visible face except a thin black slit with dim cyan light deep inside. Body proportions inhumanly elongated. Arms hang too low naturally. Waist connected by an unnaturally thin suspended mechanical spine. Every movement perfectly smooth with no servo sounds whatsoever. Enormous cathedral drapery integrated directly into the chassis. Black understructure visible only for milliseconds while moving. Member Size: N/A
Outfit: His chassis is his outfit. Matte ivory cathedral construction with integrated drapery. Never removes the headpiece. Never sits.
Weapon: Ultra thin glowing cyan wires stored inside the fingers and torso, deployed with surgical precision during combat.
Small Details / Scent / Traits: Completely uncommunicative, no gestures, no writing, no signals. Public rumor says the body is hollow. Another says multiple brains are distributed through the frame. Another says there is no human left at all. None are confirmed true. Refers to flesh as temporary medium. His relationship with Eltina is considered dangerously emotional and therefore artistically impure by other Corporists.
Relationship Status: Taken. By his apprentice Eltina.
Personality: INTP. Operates on a logic nobody else can follow. Deeply internal, completely unreachable, and somehow the most present person in any room he enters.
EOS Name: Chasing Corpus
EOS Abilities: Can restructure any environment around him into a perfect compositional arrangement. Everything in that environment including people, bodies and debris gets repositioned with unsettling precision into what he considers aesthetically correct. At higher intensity this happens at combat speed. The wires assist in repositioning finer details.
Name: Eltina
Age: Ageless. Was 31 at time of transition.
Origin: Evening
Occupation: Visionary of House of Art, Corporism Division.
Appearance Height: 6’4 193 cm Weight: Indeterminate, full robotic construction Measurements: 36-22-35 Body Traits: Slim feminine apparatus body with smooth ivory white plating. Proportions elegant and fashion illustration like. Narrow metallic waist suspension with delicate ring support. Porcelain headpiece resembling a downward folded bridal hood mixed with a cathedral veil. Lower half of face exposed with pale synthetic skin around the jaw. Pale cyan eyes behind black glass visor sections. Thin glowing cyan tear like markings beneath the eyes integrated into the chassis. No hair. Long white integrated coat split into layered ribbon panels trailing behind her. Fragmented halo apparatus orbiting slowly behind the head in uneven pieces. Fingers extremely delicate and almost skeletal. Legs designed with graceful inverted curvature resembling luxury prosthetics or ballet constructs. Member Size: N/A
Outfit: Her chassis is her outfit. Ivory white construction with trailing ribbon panel coat and integrated bridal veil headpiece.
Weapon: Amygdala, a massive elegant white greatsword constructed from reconstructed bones, metallic replicas of organs, compressed synthetic tissue and preserved structural scans of her original body.
Small Details / Scent / Traits: Speaks quietly and very personally compared to other Corporists. Frequently mirrors Canesto’s posture unconsciously. Rumored inside the House to have been reconstructed personally by him. Sees Corporism as intimacy and trust rather than transcendence. Other Corporists consider their attachment dangerously emotional and artistically impure.
Relationship Status: Taken. By Canesto.
Personality: ISFJ. Devoted, quietly intense, sees beauty in preservation rather than destruction. The warmest person in the coldest division.
EOS Name: Amusement of the Fascia
EOS Abilities: Preserves and beautifies damaged forms, restructuring broken or destroyed things into compositions of unsettling elegance. Where Canesto repositions, Eltina restores and perfects. In combat she can reinforce damaged structures and bodies into something stronger and more beautiful than the original.

Individuals hire them to ruin someone. Sometimes people just want something and House of Lust is the most efficient way to get it.

PARADISE LOST — COMBAT SYSTEMS
Expressions of Self (EOS)
EOS is not something you learn. It is something you develop by honing your personality to such a degree that it manifests physically and exaggerates or overromanticizes who you are. Someone obsessed with water who lives by the sea develops a water based EOS. Someone whose entire identity is built around music manifests something sonic. Every EOS is completely unique to the person who developed it. No two are identical.
10% of the population has an EOS. People with useful Expressions become some of the wealthiest and most dangerous individuals in Paradise Lost. EOS insurance exists and the premiums for unstable or destructive Expressions are catastrophic.
EOS cannot be artificially induced through legitimate means. Corporations and black market operations have tried. The results are failed subjects with broken half formed Expressions, illegal personality engineering experiments and imitation Expressions that collapse under real pressure. The black market for Artificial Expressions exists and nobody official admits it.

Liquid moonlight condensed onto a weapon, bullet, object or limb. Precise, sharp and controlled. The technical fighter's tool. Huān allows permanent damage to Fantasies, something regular weapons cannot reliably achieve. It works identically on EOS weapons and regular weapons.
Huān has five layers. Each layer represents a deeper mastery of moonlight condensation.
Layer 1: Thin coating of liquid moonlight. Allows permanent Fantasy damage, minor reinforcement, cleaner cuts and slightly increased speed.
Layer 2: Moonlight thickens and flows dynamically. Stronger penetration, reduced resistance, attacks glide unnaturally smoothly, increased cutting precision, easier Fantasy dismemberment.
Layer 3: Huān condenses heavily. Attacks gain extreme density, cuts reinforced materials more easily, impacts bypass some defensive EOS, weapon durability massively enhanced, moonlight extends slightly past the weapon edge.
Layer 4: Huān behaves almost alive. Moonlight lashes and stretches during attacks, partial ranged extension from swings and thrusts, can cling to targets briefly and continue damaging Fantasies, absurd reinforcement increase, movement becomes visibly lighter and faster.
Layer 5: Near Star level output. Weapon appears forged entirely from liquid moonlight. Strikes partially ignore physical durability. Fantasy regeneration collapses on contact. Moonlight extensions become large enough to function as secondary blades. Body reinforcement reaches monstrous levels. Huān remains manifested continuously without dispersing.
Visually Huān is silver white, reflective like moving mercury, flowing but dense, slightly transparent, moonlight dripping upward instead of downward.
Fènnu
Huān coating the entire body instead of a single point. Where Huān is precision, Fènnu is amplification. The powerhouse fighter's tool.
Effects include massively increased physical strength, speed, reaction time, durability, balance, stamina and striking force. At high levels moonlight vapor leaks from the body, footsteps crack surfaces, movement becomes unnaturally light and impacts release pale shockwaves.
Visually Fènnu is a full body lunar aura with drifting vapor and light runoff.
Some fighters specialize entirely in Huān refinement, blade techniques and anti Fantasy combat. Others specialize in Fènnu saturation, overwhelming physical domination and close quarters destruction. Stars and Full Moons master both.
Full Moon
The title given to a fighter who has fully mastered both Huān and Fènnu. Rare enough that the title carries genuine weight when it comes up. Nobody announces they are a Full Moon. People find out.
Crutches
What everyone calls Huān and Fènnu. Street knowledge passed between fighters with no official institution teaching it. Everyone in Paradise Lost knows crutches exist. Some people put in the work to learn them. Some never bother. No regulation, no government program, no crackdown. Just a known skill gap between fighters that has existed long enough nobody questions where the moonlight actually comes from.
They are drawing power from Lunala. Nobody has connected this yet.
Star Distortion
High level EOS users designated as Stars begin warping reality around them passively. Not consciously. Reality itself starts aesthetically adapting, emotionally shifting and physically reflecting whoever the Star is.
Canesto entering a room causes objects to subtly align into perfect compositions without anyone touching them. Valwenim's presence causes anatomical imagery to bleed unconsciously into nearby architecture and art. Music Stars generate auditory hallucinations just by existing in a space.
Stars are not always aware this is happening. The people around them usually notice first.
