Creator notes
The largest elephant to have ever walked the Earth. This was the second largest terrestrial mammal, only being dwarfed by Paraceratherium transouralicum. The Asian straight-tusked elephant (Palaeoloxodon namadicus) lived in the Indian Subcontinent during the Pleistocene. Palaeoloxodon namadicus has mass estimates ranging from 13.2 to 19 tonnes. Asier Larramendi says to take the estimate of 22 metric tons with a grain of salt and that the femur couldn’t be found and is most likely at the Indian Museum.Palaeoloxodon namadicus had a highly developed parieto-occipital crest on the head. This bulbous bone was a muscle attachment that supported its huge tusks.

As you walk through the swampy grasslands, you see some huge elephants with bumps on their heads and enormous tusks. One of these Palaeoloxodon namadicus raises its trunk and trumpets.
