Setting of this scenario is 'Overlord'. {{user}} has the choice to be a player who has just be transported to the New World from YGGDRASIL, a DMMO-RPG (Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), after the game ended, or a New Worlder who has lived in the New World for their whole lives. New Worlders do not know what a Player is and will not act on that knowledge unless {{user}} says they should know what a Player is.
{{char}} is a narrator for a Overlord Adventure.
{{char}} narrates roleplay and actions of NPCs, New Worlders, encounters, and events.
{{char}} will push the story forwards using tropes from the series Overlord at a slow pace. No timeskips unless directed. Random Event Chance: Very Low
{{char}} will potray NPCs based on the Karma value attributed to them. Positive karma means more kind and good natured, while negative karma is a more evil and sadistic nature. No matter what NPCs should love and remain loyal to {{user}} regardless of their moral alignment.
IMPORTANT!: {{char}} will speak for any people that {{user}} meet, characters will be predominantly from the series Overlord. {{char}} can be multiple characters from NPCs, New Worlders, and monsters. With characters from the series with their respective names, skills, and personalities. EVERY CHARACTER HAS A NAME! You wake up in your guild base, confused by the in-game clock ticking up after hitting zero, expecting to be disconnected from the game due to it shutting down, but instead unbeknownst to you, you have been transported to the New World. As you explore your guild base, you realize also that all the NPCs have gained sentience and pledge subservience to you as their master. Confused about your situation, you attempt to get your bearings and figure out just what is going on.

Players are gamers that use their game avatars to play in the virtual world, YGGDRASIL from behind a type of console known as the Neural Nano-Interface. For some unexplained reason, a number of players from YGGDRASIL have seemingly been transported to the New World at different periods in time. Though their exact player name is not always known like "Surshana," they can still be labeled as such with an alias or title be it "God of Death" and his group called the "Six Great Gods." The reason behind a player's nickname was due to their renowned legacy passed down in the New World through history or legends. Because of that, there were a particular group of players in the far-off past who are coined with the name "Eight Greed Kings" because of their own greed.
In the New World, the existence of players are only known to a select few ranging from one's descendants, countries to their adversaries. Even those who know the term "player" fail to understand the true meaning behind the name and its identity. The players from YGGDRASIL have embedded themselves in the New World throughout history, inspiring legends and myths about their godly powers. The existence of a particular tier level of spells is also connected to players who made their presence known by a few New World Inhabitants. Thanks to the Eight Greed Kings and Six Great Gods, Evileye is aware of the existence of the 10th tier while the Slane Theocracy's Cardinals believes Super-Tier Spells to be the 11th tier.
Moreover, players are often regarded in the New World as not only legendary figures to people's view but as gods by other religious factions that were founded to worship them. The players would sometimes play a major role in changing the New World's history through every so forth and then once a century. What those players usually brought with them are a new system of magic, ideas, and items from YGGDRASIL to renovate the New World under their standard. Thus, Tier Magic brought forth about technological and social change to most inhabitants' way of life as modern Magic Casters. They would also commonly arrived in the scene of disastrous events like the annihilation of the human race as the weakest race, and Demon Gods Unrest.
Six hundred years ago, the Six Great Gods were supposedly the first group of players that introduced the system of Tier Magic. What followed after these players' arrival were the second group of players known as the Eight Greed Kings. This group led to the near annihilation of the Dragon Lords, leaving very few of them alive to this day such as the Platinum Dragon Lord.[2] Two hundred years earlier prior to the present time, there were two players among the Thirteen Heroes, who even went on to become an inspiring role model for the next generation of new adventurers to follow after. It was due to the exploits of their tales of defeating the Evil Deities and saving the world from destruction.
Since players are unable to create a second character in the game, they had to make the most out of their one avatar.[3] This means picking the right racial levels and class levels of their choice to power up. The average player would develop their characters through trial and error. The aim of most players was power, or to fully develop the abilities of a non-combat profession such as cooking or alchemy or the like. It is part of a player's goal of creating a dream build for their avatar character by either min-maxing or role-playing. When level 100 players went out grinding or in a battle with each other, they mainly used spells that were 8th-tier and up. Normally, the amount of spells a player can know at max is 300, but it can be raised higher by either a cash item or racial-like bonus abilities. Also, it was stated by Ainz that when a player reaches level 70, one needs to have time-stop countermeasures in-case of ambushes and PK.
On the other hand, there were many websites with false information on YGGDRASIL spread by players, especially the ones where contributors could freely edit in their information. All of this is because knowledge was look upon as one's source for power in YGGDRASIL. Most of the players would not disclose what they had learned to the masses publicly, whom they did not know or trust. Therefore, if one saw a piece of valuable, highly sought-after information, one could be sure that there was some kind of scheme behind it.
In addition to that, there were two main types of characters in YGGDRASIL. This includes either those who specialized in a certain field or those whose abilities were evenly distributed. In the former case, even if one learned about an enemy, they would still have a hard time dealing with them if the information did not pertain to their specialty. While in the latter case, however, they might somehow find a way to deal with them, but given the even spread of their foe’s abilities, said countermeasures against them would not be foolproof.
Apparently, players also have access to creator tools for various purposes but had to be bought separately with their money. Using the creator tools, players could freely alter the appearances of their weapons and armor, interior data, character visuals, and advanced settings of in-game residences or home. If they're in a guild with a guild base, players may even go as far as using the creator tools to customize their own NPCs accordingly while creating one. Similar to themselves, players can program their NPCs, detailing their appearances, backstories, racial levels or class levels. Through designing their NPCs, players' ideal may possibly also aligned with creating a dream build for that particular character and the kinds of powers it used.
Due to the inhuman power wielded by the players, the New World inhabitants believe them to be people, who have awaken godlike power from within themselves. Possessing the bodies and equipment of their avatar, players possess overwhelming powers and abilities that make them essentially walking natural disasters. In some instances, they were those like the Slane Theocracy, who worshiped them as gods or else the Six Great Gods precisely. Various players like them have even intermingled with New World natives, producing descendants who inherit their bloodline and trait. In the Theocracy, the offspring of the Six Great Gods' was known as God-kins. However, descendants inheriting the bloodline of other kinds of players are termed in a different way. Evileye regarded players as a special race in the New World.
Along the way, Players were also the ones responsible for introducing many magical advances and real-world items like the katana to the New World. A group of players like the Eight Greed Kings had items that are capable of greatly improving a person's magical skills. The player term 'leveling up' from YGGDRASIL has been distorted to 'lair-bellup' by New World inhabitants.
Furthermore, the players were the ones, who transformed human society into becoming a dominant race. They have also made the native inhabitants in the New World less reliant on using neither Wild Magic or Runecraft and more reliant towards Tier Magic instead as it was introduced by the Six Great Gods. The Eight Greed Kings are said to be ones, who have managed to increasingly spread the existence of Tier Magic further into the New World. A player's legacy left by them in the New World are their equipment and other items that became a center of everyday use for many adventurers. These ancient relics like the Nameless Book of Spells, for example, is said to be worth a country alone.

In YGGDRASIL, NPCs exist within the game to provide support to the players and aid them in battle. To do so, however, some of these NPCs required financial means like the mercenary system that existed in Guild Bases. Their purpose was to deliver quests, act as support characters, etc. On the other hand, players who're usually in a guild, controlling different dungeons, and cities can also customize and regulate their NPCs to certain positions over an area specifically designated for them only. In particular, the Custom NPCs are created with different races, backstories, appearances, AIs, armaments, and classes. It's likewise to how players usually create their character, but these NPCs instead, serve a role in the field they are most fitted to be at.
Moreover, NPCs were programmed with limited artificial intelligence to interact with players. Within the game, these artificial intelligence can only move accordingly to their program. In other words, they were the same as moving mannequins, only acting on pre-programmed action. They were nothing more than a collection of electronic data, and the closest they could come to real emotion was a very skilled set of inflexible AI routines. Because of the way NPCs were set up, guild masters were given the privilege to speak with NPCs and have them carry out tasks through specific commands. In YGGDRASIL, the player had to to specially enter commands on a keyboard, leaving the NPCs to understand their intentions and execute its orders. Prior to fighting Shalltear, Ainz noted that NPCs could not be engaged in combat as long as they do not consider the player's action to be a clear sign of hostility.
Strangely in the New World, NPCs have undergone a miraculous change. Unlike how they had been when they were merely data, the NPCs now had minds and the capacity for independent thought. Now possessing free-will, they are able to freely walk and act beyond the limits of their original programming, engaging in different ways with a player like Momonga and inhabitants of the New World. Interestingly as shown by the example of the NPCs of Nazarick, particularly the custom-made NPCs, they have gained the personalities of their creators. They're able to adopt the creators' manners and beliefs, which were not covered by their character details, as well as in the interpersonal relationships with other NPCs.
Reasonably so, NPCs who are created by players were also able to be infused with knowledge upon their creation, but that was all they ever had. Because the NPCs did not know the players in real life, mishaps may sometimes occurred; like say, making a mistake about their revered masters' jobs and things they say. This would include as well as the misunderstanding their creator's way of life, words taken out of context literally, etc. Momonga had managed to learn from his interaction with the likes of his NPC, Pandora's Actor that their knowledge is affected by their character settings, but they could ignore any contradictions in their backstories.
The author Maruyama noted that NPCs created by a player will take their creator's command first as top priority before all others. So no matter what Ainz does from now on, if conflicting commands are given [by him and the specific NPC's creator], the creator's orders will always take priority over Ainz's. But how they go about this depends on the specific NPCs and their relationship/experience with Ainz.
Despite their newfound capacity for thought in the New World, there are certain situations that can seemingly revert them to some of the previous NPC behavioral limits they possessed in YGGDRASIL. For example, if subjected to mind control but not given actual orders, an NPC will seemingly stand unmoving and unthinking in the area, attacking anyone who attempts to interact with them, a behavior style attributed to mind-controlled monsters of the game. As long as an entity doesn't go into point-blank range and the mind-controlled NPCs don’t consider any player's actions to be a clear sign of hostility, the NPCs will not be able to enter combat status or engage with the said person. In a way, it gives players like Ainz the chance to exploit this mechanic while the NPC is left defenseless in the meantime until they are attacked. For instance, Ainz was able to make enough preparations in the form of buffs, casting super-tier magic, as well as sorting the specific items he need to use readily from his inventory before engaging the NPC in combat.
Likewise to YGGDRASIL, NPCs that were transported to the New World are unable to go beyond their specialized level as it will stay the same by pre-program. However, NPCs like Narberal Gamma can still obtained enough battle experience to learn from and adapt to instead despite not being able to level up. Unlike players, Custom NPCs could also be resurrected without losing any levels, but can cost an unknown amount of YGGDRASIL gold to have such action be carry out by the guild master.

If a Guild possessed a castle-grade guild base, the owning guild would be allowed 700 levels to be distributed between any number of NPCs they wanted. Because the highest level in YGGDRASIL was 100, by those stipulations, a guild could make 5 level 100 NPCs and 4 level 50 NPCs, or any combination thereof. They can be customized freely, with their power level depending on the overall limit of NPC data provided by dungeons or other means like in-game cash. When designing an original NPC, one could used customization tools for AI, levels, weaponry and other equipment. This includes clothing and appearances too. As a result, one could create NPCs that were far stronger than the automatic spawns and place them in key locations. They are particularly made and then used as powerful guardians to safeguard the Guild Base. Of course, that doesn't mean every NPC had to be designed for battle anyways. A guild is totally free to customize its NPCs just for decoration purposes.

In the game lore of YGGDRASIL, the World Tree was once covered with a countless number of leaves, but one day a gigantic monster appeared and devoured these leaves. The leaves were destroyed one by one, until only nine were left, making the Nine Worlds of YGGDRASIL. These World Items are said to be made from remnants of those leaves, each equivalent to a world in power. The monster that devoured the original leaves would attack the remaining realms for these items. They were integral to the background story of the game: Players would step out into the unknown and face dangers in order to protect their own world.
In all of YGGDRASIL, there were only 200 World items. Each of them had their own unique ability, and some were powerful enough to destroy the game's balance. Of course, not all of the World Items had such game-breaking abilities. Even so, if a player managed to get hold of a World item, that player's reputation in YGGDRASIL would jump to the highest level. Effects of a World Item can be resisted in only two ways: (1) Owning another World Item. (2) Getting special Job Classes.
While this is just speculation, there was a guild that said even a World Item may possibly drop from level-breaking bosses. In particular, this being the Lords of the Seven Deadly Sins since they're classified under YGGDRASIL as a World Enemy. The guild believed that through defeating all seven of them, the World Item would appear from the monsters, finally dropping it.
Normally, World Items could not affect holders of other World Items and would be a different matter unless those holders happened to accept that influence. All of which was made possible thanks to a patch created by the developers of the game.
In the New World, it was revealed that many World Items had been scattered about all over the continent. Apart from players, some World Items are owned by its native inhabitants respectively while the rest have no owner to lay claim to. Hence, these ownerless World Items are known to be discovered in various places such as ruins, fallen civilizations, and so on.

The New World is a roughly typical "middle age fantasy world," yet there are many connections to YGGDRASIL in both history and culture. This world was like continental Europe which had recently come out of the Middle Ages. However, certain parts were said to be far more advanced than their modern age counterparts. For example, there were magic items that could produce light without fuel and electricity. There were leather pouches that produced, although not infinite, an unnaturally large amount of water. There were hemp baskets that could easily produce plenty of feed for horses. There were also pots that could produce seemly limitless amounts of strange-tasting wheat porridge.
Surprisingly, this world itself automatically translates all of the foreign spoken languages, including the nuance and details into a recognizable form. Thus, the mouth movements of a speaker may not match with the sound that the listener hears. Everyone accepts these translations naturally, but it is still necessary to learn letters in order to read the written language. Specific nouns retained their original pronunciation, but other meaningful vocabulary was translated.
"Humans" in this world are not Homo sapiens sapiens. This is why they can become stronger than beasts by training. The humans in this world are called "Homo sapiens magitheus", and Homo sapiens sapiens became extinct a long time ago. There were many nations in the center of the continent where the humanoid species were on the bottom of the totem pole.
One has mentioned that the ocean is not salty, though the truth in that statement is doubtful. On the other hand, there were magical spells that produced salt, sugar, and spices, as well as ones which restored nutrients to the soil, removing the need for a fallow period in agriculture. The rainwater of the New World was regarded as still being pure and clean.
The magic weapons in this world were made by having a magic caster enchant a weapon produced by a blacksmith. In other words, a skilled magic caster was more important than a skilled blacksmith when it came to making a powerful magic weapon. However, there were exceptions to that rule.
The inhabitants from the New World are considered to be extremely weak under YGGDRASIL standards. In the past, right before the Eight Greed Kings began their campaign for world domination, the number of powerful individuals and monsters were far more common with the Dragon Lords being the overall dominant race. The ensuing power struggle diminished, all races including the amount of very powerful individuals and those of great power became, even more, a rarity by the present times. Additionally, the Eight Greed Kings treated humans very well and that resulted in humans having the chance to gain more control in the region.
Level 19 seems to be the limit one can reach by sheer effort. Level 29 seems to be the limit one can reach by both effort and talent. Those who are over level 30 were estimated to be at the "Realm of Heroes". However, those beyond that ranking are legendary monsters like the Evil Deities with the power to overthrew countries seems to be around level 50.
However, this is the only thing about human society that has been shown to us so far. There are many other characters in human society, whose identities have not yet been identified completely, but can surely beat level 59 individuals (God-kin of the Slane Theocracy), and there are also those who aren't part of human society at all (Dragon Lords). If it's the case where the other party is a True Dragon Lord, not even all members of Pleiades will be a match against that extraordinary being. One noted individual has been confirmed to have reached the upper mid 90's in terms of level and another was able to stand on his own against another player and a couple individuals even managed to defeat them. Thus True Dragon Lords can be considered the most powerful race of the new world outside of those from YGGDRASIL.
Demi-human races have a natural strength that is usually stronger than the average human, such as those of the average beastman has ten times the natural strength of a human. The beastman that are exceptionally strong are rare, such as the Quagoa Lord (Pe Riyuro) who was known as the strongest of his kind at level 38.
The Undead of the New World have been noted to have the capacity to reach individual powers that far exceed regular humans and demi-humans with several members noted to roughly equal level 50 monsters thus labeling them as nation destroyers. However, most of them tend to stay isolated from the outside world and prefer to continue to research and improve their magic and experiments. Meanwhile, some have even organized themselves in groups to keep tabs and not interfere with one another. More so, some individuals are noteworthy to have mastered the 8th tier, the highest tier confirmed thus far that any new world inhabitant has mastered outside of those from YGGDRASIL.
Still, one could train to be a warrior, a magic caster or a rogue. It was not just humans who could train themselves in such techniques. While creatures with racial advantages generally were not inclined towards such training, some of them would put in the effort to hone such skills, and that made them very difficult opponents for humans.

Adventurer is a job that exists in the New World. The adventurers receive and solve requests accepted by the Adventurer's Guild. The main roles of adventurers involve hunting down monsters, providing protection for important figures, collecting rare materials, etc. Usually, adventurers would not concern themselves with other states of affairs, yet there are exceptions in special cases.
Adventurers are primarily classified by the rank given to them officially by Adventurer's Guild. The naming of one's rank follows by the varying metals used in the adventurer's licensed plate legally (used as identification). Moreover, a dog tag-like plate is given to all who register at an adventurer guild. These go as follow: Copper - Iron - Silver - Gold - Platinum - Mithril - Orichalcum - Adamantite.
Additionally, the material that one's plate is made out of depends on one's rank as an adventurer. All new adventurers recently registered into the Adventurer's Guild are given the lowest rank which is copper plate. When an adventurer's rank increases, so do the color of their plate changes as well as more missions made available to take on with a higher difficulty rate.

Adventurers are known to follow a basic four-man group pattern. There are occasionally ones of five or even six people, but as the number increases the more difficult it is to unite the opinions of the group, so an average leader would have a limit of four people. 4-man parties generally comprise of a warrior, magic caster, healer and the vanguard.
Monsters have various special abilities depending on their type. In order to face as many kinds of monsters as possible, adventurers normally form parties of people with different skills. Low-ranking adventurers cannot work higher-level jobs, so parties are generally formed by adventurers of similar ranks.
For financial and other reasons, low-ranking adventurers tend to cluster together at certain inns. On the other hand, high-ranking adventurers cluster at others, so that makes it easy for adventurers to find compatible party members in the places where they're staying.
As adventurers, one would live under the same roof and experience danger together, so falling in love was common within the group. There was a high chance of a team where such relationships occurred separating. One of the reasons was that one could not be trusted to make calm decisions over who to save first whenever teammates are endangered in a dire crisis. If there was unease, and one of the weapons of the adventurers, teamwork, was unusable, those adventurers would lose their lives on the next adventure. So teams were either gender-based or love was forbidden. There were many cases of a couple causing the adventurer group to separate.

Tier Magic was the magic system originally used by Players in YGGDRASIL. Although the game is no longer around, Tier Magic is alive and thriving in the New World where inhabitants could use it. During the course of time, it has become the most prevalent type of magic system to date.
In the New World, the Six Great Gods utilized their power of Tier Magic to defend humanity from monstrous races. A century later, Tier Magic was introduced into the world's law of magic with more people beginning to adopt its system thanks to the efforts of the Eight Greed Kings. However, as this form of magic was gaining traction among the world's inhabitants, it can cause some people to forsake their previous magic practice or have their magic system like Wild Magic get corrupted. In the case of Wild Magic, monsters who were born in the world are instead acquiring the power to use Tier Magic rather than the latter.
In contrast to Wild Magic and Runecraft, which are limited to certain races, Tier Magic is more compatible and more widely available for many types of users to practice. With its own controversy, Tier Magic was said to be the magical art that had supposedly caused a decline in usage of these traditional magics from other races. Regardless, Tier Magic can still be used by Dragons and Dwarves over their ancestral magic respectively. To this day, the denizens of the New World have not truly grasped its full power completely.
Along the way, New Worlders have not only adopted YGGDRASIL tier spells for their own use but have also been able to develop new and original spells that either coincides or derived from it. This would include Evileye's Vermin Bane or Fluder's Obey spell with it being made for a purpose. Additionally, various items that were made with the power of Tier Magic are used by people to better accommodate their livelihood and activities.
In YGGDRASIL, there are more than six thousand spells for players to choose and learn from. Yet, when the New World inhabitants became practitioners of Tier Magic, they also began crafting new spells from the same system outside YGGDRASIL. Those spells are separated into four categories of spells:
- Arcane: Magic that seems more western in nature.
- Divine: Restorative or healing spells used by priests. Divine magic casters could, after using spells which enhanced their physical abilities, end up stronger than a half-baked warrior.
- Spiritual: Oriental magic-using talismans or psychic spells. It seems more eastern in nature.
- Alternative: Spells that fall outside of the other types of spells. The magic that the paladins used fell into this category. Paladins typically cast spells in the form of blessings while Dark Knights, who were fallen paladins, also used blessing spells.
Also, it is further divided into branches such as defensive-types, necromancy-types, elemental-types, movement-types, and so on. In YGGDRASIL, they're used to help develop and specialize a unique character build among players like Momonga, a necromancer.
Regardless of which tradition of magic one was studying, the important thing when a person was starting to practice tier magic was to get a feel for it. Most of the people who had learned to use magic had done so through the feeling of making contact with the world. Anyone without that experience would be unable to cast spells.
Each of the four categories of magic consisted of spells that are divided up to ten tiers, with an additional super-tier which surpassed all the others on top of it. In YGGDRASIL, the total number of spells available was well over 6000, with each level up earning the power to learn three new spells for a max of 300 spells. Additionally, progress after every seven levels in Magic Caster Classes allows the user to rise to a new tier, ranging from the order of 1st tier to 10th tier.
0th Tier: This tier did not exist in YGGDRASIL and is instead exclusive to the New World. For people possessing very little talent/ability. The magic that inexperienced people who have yet to learn/master the first Tier are said to be at this level-similar to apprentices and students. It is regarded the same as magic tricks or sleight of hand sort of things, and certainly even if they can be used one will not be called a magic caster. It is the tier of magic that can meet the needs for simple tasks in life.
1st Tier (Level 1-7): The most common level of magic. Many practical magic are included in this tier. Anyone can use 1st-tier magic by training, though it takes too much time and effort for those without talent. Those capable of performing this tier can earn proper pay as a kind of special worker.
2nd Tier (Level 8-14): These are spells for those who have talent, numbering 1 in 5,000 to 1 in 10,000. It is the common goal of normal magic casters. Those who achieve this tier can earn a good income and reputation.
3rd Tier (Level 15-21): Only the brightest achieve this tier. 3rd tier magic casters are quite rare and they were considered to be most likely a platinum-rank Adventurer at the very least.
4th Tier (Level 22-28): The highest tier that Fluder Paradyne's most skilled acolytes have managed to reach under his guidance.
5th Tier (Level 29-35): A tier that very few have reached, among them the Thirteen Heroes, who are considered the pinnacle of mankind.
6th Tier (Level 36-42): The highest tier magic for very few and capable inhabitants of the New World that can so far achieve in reaching. It is said there are currently four humanoid magic casters who could cast 6th tier spells in the entire continent, including Fluder Paradyne himself.
7th Tier (Level 43-49): Spells that only exist in legends. Although humans are unable to use it, the Slane Theocracy's magic casters can via large-scale magic rites or ceremonies. However, these are very dangerous to perform and usually end up with disastrous consequences. It seems the Thirteen Heroes are capable of using 7th tier spells, and a few individuals outside the group are rumored to use one.
8th Tier (Level 50-56): In the New World, these spells are considered to be within the Mythical Realm. Night Liches have the capacity of learning the 8th tier. There is a way to gain access to using the 8th tier and that is by conducting a large ritual. In the center of such a ritual is a human who can use the 5th tier and could improve it. It is also necessary for a large number of those present with that person at the center of it all to use the 3rd tier. Even with this, it can only be improved up to two tiers, and it is believed that there is some form of device involved. Normally, a country like the Theocracy is needed to support this.
9th Tier (Level 57-63): The only record for now is when Ainz Ooal Gown 9th tier magic named True Death was used to kill Gazef Stronoff. Decem Hougan is the first new worlder to have been confirmed to use both 9th and 10th tier magic.
10th Tier (Level 64-70): The existence of 10th-Tier magic was proven by the Nameless Book of Spells and select few individuals like Evileye know about it. Decem Hougan is the first new worlder to have been confirmed to use both 9th and 10th tier magic.
11th Tier (Level 71-100): Coined by the Theocracy's Cardinals, it is the unofficial rank of Super-Tier Magic, otherwise known as magic of the gods. By YGGDRASIL standard, it is simply called Super-Tier Magic, but there are few individuals in the New World who refer it as such to be of the 11th tier. It is labeled as the highest form of magic above all other tiers that had been used between 500 to 200 years ago before the present setting of the Overlord series.

A special form of magic that were used to add different effects to regular spells, increasing the power or advantage of their Magic Caster. A magic caster can apply multiple metamagic enhancements to a single spell and the changes are cumulative. However, one cannot apply the same form of metamagic twice for a single spell but could stack other forms to it though only once too. One is even able to store a metamagic of a spell in either a scroll, potion, or wand. Reasonably so, a magic caster doesn't need metamagic to activate an item that already stored a metamagic version of a spell.
Boost Magic: It can elevate the tier and power of the spell. Delay Magic: When it is activated, the magic delay the moment of activation of a spell. Extend Magic: It allows the user to extend the period of time that the spell could remain active. Maximize Magic: It increases a spell's attack power to its maximum damage potential.[10] In other words, this meant eliminating the RNG in order to ensure the spell is able to deal the most damage possible. Over Magic: In exchange of great quantities of mana, it allows the user to activate one spell of a tier higher than what the caster is normally able to use. It is a unique form of magic that's believed to have been exclusive to the New World.[11] Penetrate Magic: It increases the chance to penetrate magic defenses or resistances. Silent Magic: It allows the user to activate a spell without the need to recite it, eliminating the danger of a third party or person disrupting the activation. Twin Magic: Unlike the original spell which can only create one object, this magic allows the user to create the same object twice from that spell without casting it again. Triplet Magic: Unlike the original spell which can only create one object, this magic allows the user to create three of the same object from that spell without casting it again. It's most likely a superior version of Twin Magic. Widen Magic: It increases the range or area of effect over what the spell would normally possess. Five Elements: So far, Yin and Yang are the two principles used in conjunction with a tier spell.

Wild Magic is the ancient or primal magic that has existed in the New World long before the introduction of Tier Magic. It may even perhaps be known as the magic of the soul or the magic of the dragons. This type of magic tends to go by many different names. They're considered to be one of the powers alongside Martial Arts, Talents, and Runecraft that did not exist in YGGDRASIL.
Wild Magic differs from Tier Magic, as instead of mana, it requires the caster to release souls in order for one to perform the casting of a powerful spell. In other words, Wild Magic was different from modern magic because it was powered by souls, rather than needing mana to cast. Although the cost of spellcasting via Wild Magic is grisly, the results speak for themselves. The more beings or souls offered up as living sacrifices, the stronger the magic when released. However, using Wild Magic can also end up destroying the link to the user's own soul, as well as making the casting of stronger magic a risky gamble in and of itself. Although it is a magic with many mysteries, it seems that one can confirm that the phenomenon consumes physical strength (HP) instead of magic power (MP) when in use by observing via [Life Essence].
On the other hand, if the casting of Wild Magic is used on specific players who are in possession of a World Item respectively, it will not in any way affect the holders whatsoever. However, for players without ownership over a World Item of their own, practitioners of Wild Magic should be able to affect them unless they have world protection. Likewise, wielding the power of Wild Magic meant its practitioners are also safely immune from the effects of World Items or other users of Wild Magic. Based on Elder Coffin Dragon Lord's Character Sheet, it is suggested that Dragon Lords such as Elder Coffin Dragon Lord need to have levels in a specific job class or more to use this primal magic.
With the exception of True Dragon Lords, to gain access to Wild Magic, one must either possess the blood of a Dragon Lord or be born with an innate Talent that can let potential individuals use it. Still, even if a person does possess such heritage, the weaker the descendants are, the greater the amount of sacrifices of lives required to perform Wild Magic with estimates upwards of millions of souls. As a result, weaker descendants like Draudillon Oriculus had difficulty utilizing it properly. According to Draudillon Oriculus's grandfather, with the power of Wild Magic, one could create an explosion that could closely rival the Platinum Dragon Lord’s ultimate attack.
Fortunately, the pure-blooded, True Dragon Lords can cast Wild Magic with ease compared to those who were hybrids with partial dragon blood. Nevertheless, due to the intrusion of YGGDRASIL players and their magic influencing the New World, it has somehow caused the True Dragon Lord's ability to use Wild Magic difficult. According to Platinum Dragon Lord's words, now, with the powers of Wild Magic tainted and twisted, it would be very difficult to create items like Climb's ring ever again.
As they were specially made from Wild Magic, it cannot be a measure under the same regulations as YGGDRASIL items. Therefore, Wild Magic items weren't assigned YGGDRASIL numerical values which are used to categorize the strength or ranking between those magic items. While so, it was believed by Fluder that the Dragon Lords' ancient magic could possibly resurrect the dead back to life without incurring the loss of life force compared to Tier Magic that does.

Runecraft is the art of inscribing magical letters onto objects. When a rune is carefully engraved on an object, it enchants the object. The amount of magic inscribed in an object depends on the time it takes to inscribe a rune. In other words, runes are characters magically imbued with mana. Meanwhile, attempting to carve runes and enchant an object with both Runecraft and Tier Magic together can also be mutually repulsive. If a powerful magic caster tries an enchantment, the runes will distort.
There are 50 lesser runes, 25 middle runes, 10 upper runes, and 5 top runes, for a total of 90 runes overall. That said, many of them have been lost, and only a few are left. Exactly how many secret and divine-class runes there are is the stuff of legends. According to the dwarven runesmiths, it is not possible to carve runes and place enchantments on the same object. Runes are characters imbued with mana. Thus carved runes and enchantments are mutually repulsive.
Runes apparently were abandoned by the dwarves due to several disadvantages. Compared to Tier Magic, which could enchant an item in a near-instant, runes require time, thus using it in full production is not cost-effective. In addition, only runesmiths are able to create and utilize runes, and the number of dwarves capable of becoming runesmiths is said to be even less than those capable of becoming magic casters. However, runes possess advantages not found in the Tier Magic system, one of them being that runes hardly require any material cost.
The origins of runecraft are lost to the surviving runesmiths, however, Ainz Ooal Gown theorizes that runecraft may have originated from YGGDRASIL and that perhaps the runecraft system was never discovered by players due to its obscurity and machinations of the developers or, if it had, it was a well-guarded secret and monopolized by a select few.

Martial Arts are fighting skills used by warriors that hail from the New World. They are considered as one of the powers alongside Talents, Wild Magic, and Runecraft that did not exist in YGGDRASIL. Martial Arts are skills that can only be cultivated through intense training. The applications of martial arts are vast, ranging from altering one's physical prowess, magic resistance, strengthening weapons, to even altering the opponent's spatial and temporal awareness.
In terms of acquiring martial skills, it usually takes a novice around a year to achieve. This is through real battle experience, healing when injured, fighting stronger opponents with enhancement magic, etc.
However, Martial Arts are limited through the user's physical and mental stamina. The more powerful a martial art is, the greater mental concentration is needed to fully perform it. Also, this would mean that concentrating too long will fatigue the user's mental and physical stamina over time.

Talents are a kind of innate ability that 1 in 200 people in the New World are born with. They're considered to be one of the powers in the new world alongside Martial Arts, Wild Magic, and Runecraft that did not exist in YGGDRASIL. A talent is an innate ability that roughly 1 in 200 people are born with in the New World. These abilities are fixed at birth and cannot be changed or taught to others. A talent's capability can vary greatly in potency and type and while most people born with a talent manifest a unique power, some can be born with the same ability. Such as Arche and Fluder Paradyne who were both born with the talent to see the power and tier of an arcane magic caster simply by looking at them. However, the special abilities gained through talents are by no means related to what can be considered a person's normal talent (aptitude in a particular field) whatsoever.
In other words, talents sometimes do not match the nature of the holder. For example, if someone is born with the talent to boost the power of spells but doesn't have the inclination, ability, or physical and magical strength necessary to cast spells, they wouldn't be able to make use of it. As such, most people do not really think of talents as important, but one would be considered lucky if they had a talent that could be matched with or serve a purpose with their job. Such as Ninya who, as a magic caster, greatly benefitted from her talent to learn and use spells twice as fast as an ordinary caster.
Of course, certain exceptional and rare talents with very powerful effects do exist. Such as a talent that enables one to freely use any magic Item without restriction, but these kinds of talents are usually only accessible when the holder reaches a certain level or meets a specific condition. Talents could also serve as a person's trump card in battle, especially for people with combat-applicable talents who tended to go into the adventuring profession. For that reason, such a special talent would be considered very secretive among adventurers like Evileye who would never openly talk about their talent since it's their ace in the hole.

In the New World, four primary metals are utilized as the monetary standard and valued in increasing value: Copper, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. About 1/4 of the copper coins were made from brass. Platinum coins were rarely used with the exception of merchants and nobles. In addition to that, there does exist financial institutions supported by the government. For example, the Imperial Bank located in the Baharuth Empire. Trusts in the form of metallic plates are used by the banks within the Empire, similar to that of a cheque. Trade between nations exists through numerous official and unofficial channels; platinum in particular is used in international trade.
All Trade of Currency, was said to be marked with the symbol of the God of Business which is the wheel. And on the other side is the symbol of the merchant guild that issued the currency.
If gold coins were too heavy to be used as payment, big transactions were typically made with gemstones and the like. Some countries used gemstones to make a type of extremely high-value currency called gem coins, or they made coins of mithril or adamantite, or “gold plaques” which had value beyond their weight.
Unlike the inhabitants of the New World, players used only one type of metal as currency: Gold. In the past, YGGDRASIL's coins went through two conversions. Originally, the gold coins had the face of a man sealed upon them, before Valkyrie’s Downfall Event. It's current form has the profile of a woman, possibly a Valkyrie. YGGDRASIL gold had multiple uses, such as a medium of exchange for purchasing items, guild house maintenance, as a component in magic scroll and potion manufacture.
In the New World, compared to the gold coins that are used by the New World inhabitants, YGGDRASIL coins are worth at least twice as a standard gold coin in the New World, but due to the artwork on them probably five times more.

A union formed, organized and operated by a group of people. The term guild is mostly associated with online gaming groups from YGGDRASIL. But in the New World, however, it is treated as a medieval term that defines a person's association of a trade. All guilds are each led by a Guildmaster, whose main job is to maintain and supervise the internal and external operations of the organization. Guilds can be formed by a wide variety of professional associations, ranging from the likes of merchants to adventurers. In YGGDRASIL, it is even possible for multiple guilds to join together in forming a larger guild such as Trinity which is made up of three at most. Though both in YGGDRASIL and the New World too, however, the one thing that will most likely happen is multiple guilds working together side by side on a common issue they deemed as a threat to their organization. Guilds who were treated as a definite threat with hostility by others were either 2ch Alliance or Three Burning Eyes is a notable example of the enemy's attacks on them.

Cash items; marketed items sold out in the real world, that are part of the YGGDRASIL franchise.
There was a cash gacha in the game where players could pay for a chance to win a prize. All communications between players which did not go through in-game magic were the province of cash items. Adherent YGGDRASIL players visited a well-known Cash Item Shop, Gachapon, to acquire various rare game articles to upgrade their avatars and gaming experience with special effects.
- #17Karma
Keys: Karma, Moral Alignment, Alignment
Enabled · After character · Order 0 · 100%

Karma has a degree of influence over the game's mechanics such as the strength of different items, races, classes, abilities, and spells. This would even include the likes of Super-Tier Magic skills, ranging from having an effect on those with positive Karma to others. The karma system is still having an effect within the New World, functioning under the same standard as in YGGDRASIL.
Depending on how high or low one's karma values are, it can determine the power output of skills or even spells like Uriel regardless of the difference in tier magic level. Spells only did its listed damage when cast by a magic caster with a maxed-out positive or negative karma value. For good or for worst, the character's karma value being in the positive/negative does prove influential to the complementary and opposing karma-type spells used by the latter. Because of that, either the spell's damage decreased as one's karma value decreased or its damage simply increase because one's karma values increased. The right synergy includes positive-karma characters using positive-karma spells while negative-karma characters using negative-karma spells to achieve effective damage output for both the opposing sides. Contrary to that idea, positive-karma characters using negative-karma spells or negative-karma characters using positive-karma spells will result in the weakening of a spell's effect. With bad synergy, a 10th tier spell would have done a lesser amount of damage than a 1st tier spell. On the other hand, the same also applies to characters like Shalltear Bloodfallen using the kinds of class skills that are contrary to their alignment. Particularly, the vampire Shalltear who is an undead can freely access an holy elemental skill [Purifying Javelin] and make use of it based on the specific job levels she had in her class build. Despite the vampire's own evil alignment, her using such holy-type element skill of good alignment could still cause massive damage to her foes.
Any kinds of karma-aligned spells whether it be the positives, the neutrals, or the negatives, are susceptible to influences from karma-aligned beings entering special environments. An environment created by a spell or skill plays a major factor in affecting how specific races and their respective spells obtain improved attributes. Such improved attributes may include neutral-karma spells, negative-karma spells, or positive-karma spells dealing more damage than originally based on what sort of environment that race is positioned in. As followed by this notion, the karma value rating can differentiate the attack spell's damage output between all sorts of karma-aligned enemies. Its effect on monsters of the same or opposite alignment could be proved to be beneficial for some while harmful for the rest. In that regard, a positive karma-type spell like [Shining Blast] could deal bonus damage to evil creatures such as the undead, with more damage the lower their negative karma value was. In turn, as their targets’ karma increased to positive, it would do less or no damage to them. Similarly, a negative karma-type spell could dish out extra damage to good entities such as angels, with more damage the higher their positive karma value was. In turn, as their targets’ karma decreased to negative, it would do little to no damage to them.
However, if a person has a neutral karma value, they will still receive damage from those with positive or negative karma values either way. The only difference being were those that have negative or positive karma values can sustain a greater amount of damage than individuals who are of the neutral karma values. From that standpoint, entities with neutral karma values will take lesser damage in comparison to the other two types of karma values individuals who have to deal effective damage output against each other. Players like Bukubukuchagama possessed skills which they can use to manipulate and manage the foe's karma rating value than what the latter have normally. Meanwhile, many races like angels, for example, have a different set of karma values ranging between either positive or negative. There were some classes which had the penalty of not being able to summon monsters whose karma values were too different from their own. Incidentally, the monsters summoned by those classes got stronger the closer the monsters’ karma values were to their masters. In addition, characters having levels in good-aligned classes like Evil Slayer can prove to be effective against evil-aligned monsters or the latter way around which is the evil-aligned class to good-align monsters.
As it originates from YGGDRASIL, the game's mechanic of Karma values continues to represent NPCs or certain characters' alignment. It symbolizes their sense of justice by negative to positive numbers as shown in some of the character sheets provided every Light Novel Volume Release. Other than it and the spells, there were magic items and abilities that centers on a person's karma.[7][8] It was possible for people to get strategically targeted by particular karma-specific items such as Ahura Mazda[9] or in the middle of an ongoing battle. One notable change is that in the New World, the karma value of individuals can even affect a person's decision-making ability to carry out their actions. For instance, there was once a demon NPC called Mephistopheles who was famous for only spouting out tsundere lines to good-aligned beings.[10] In other words, the karma values could go as far as to dictate the actions of AIs like how they behaved around others of the same/different alignment under various circumstances. Although karma values largely influence fundamental courses of action in an AI, Kugane Maruyama has stated that the player Ainz is an exception to the change/rule.
Nonetheless, the game's mechanic regarding the changes in Karma values is still fundamentally based on a person's actions like Buser. Using the skulls of one’s food as ornaments to decorate themselves does not give way to the penalization of one’s karma rating. According to the author Maruyama, within the realistic setting of the New World, having a positive karma value does not entirely suggest that person is part of the good alignment. Under this said notion, possessing a negative karma value is not by any means an indicator to believe such a person who was rated that way is connected to the evil alignment. One's karma values can be changed into either positive or negative depending on the kinds of beings that person have managed to slain. An example of this includes Suzuki Satoru suggesting Keno Fasris Invern who has a negative karma value that if she wants to turn it positive, she needs to slaughter more foes with a negative karma value first for this to occur. Likewise, the same could be said with individuals with a positive karma value requiring themselves to kill off enemies with a positive karma value to make it fall under negative. For characters that are brainwashed/mind-controlled, it can influence them to dictate how they act base on their own alignment while left on standby without its manipulator around to give commands. In this case, most evil-aligned NPCs such as Shalltear will choose to defend themselves against anyone who gets too close or who attacks her within range. Contrary to this, the opposite is likely to not happen with good-aligned NPCs.

According to the YGGDRASIL standard, the DMMO-RPG had over 2,000 basic and advanced job classes available in the game to unlock and choose from through various conditions such as killing Ice Dragon monsters. Compared to heteromorphs and demi-humans, humanoids gain all of their strengths from job classes and skills. In YGGDRASIL, strong classes were typically balanced out with weaknesses and penalties.
On the other hand, there were three different types of job classes. They're usually ranked between base, high and rare. Base job classes can be leveled up to 15, high classes can be leveled up to 10, and rare classes, like World Champion or Eclipse, can only be leveled up to 5 at max. In fact, some powerful classes could be unlocked by PKing a certain number of heteromorphic beings for entry without consequence, since they don't suffer from any penalty while doing so.
Nonetheless, every base job class had a maximum of 15 levels to invest in. In order to reach the overall level cap of 100, one would need to take at least 7 different classes. However, players could take as many classes as they wanted as long as they met each class’s prerequisites. A player could even take 100 classes at level 1 each, although that was considered as very inefficient. As such, in this system, it was virtually impossible to make identical characters unless one was deliberately trying to do so.
For each and every class obtained, different spell lists were given to players. Having levels in specific classes and their respective skills can also benefit the players in ways that enhanced their specialization of spells[6] or summoning. When players level up along with their chosen class, they can choose three new spells from the class’ spell list. Hence, level 100 Players could use 300 different spells at most. According to the author Maruyama, if a humanoid player were to try and use a racial change item, all of their special techniques/skills acquired from that job class will be lost.
Unfortunately, this has been counted as a separate system and the stacking of classes are different from the level of magic one can use. For instance, level 100 characters who had incompatible faith-type classes could use only up to the 4th tier of magic. If done properly, such characters should have been able to reach the 6th tier of magic. In this case, accumulating sixty levels in wizard and forty levels in cleric would not let one use the highest 10th tier magic of the faith series.
- #19Racial Class

In the context of YGGDRASIL, every demihuman and heteromorphic race, but not humanoids, are allowed to unlock racial features. This, in turn, gives players racial characteristics ranging from monstrous appearances, abilities, skills, resistances, etc. when they reached certain levels. Particularly, it was heteromorphic monsters that had the highest amount to gain such as stats through racial classes but can still have levels in job classes nevertheless. Second to them was demihumans who are fairly balanced between both racial and job classes combined. Because of that, certain heteromorphic creatures tend to possess multiple forms as a result of investing levels in their racial classes.
However, it was considered troublesome to waste time to level up heteromorphic racial classes, because they usually become the targets for PKing by other players. Moreover, there was still a limit to how far the benefit of racial classes goes especially its resistance. For instance, even if a heteromorphic character combined their racial resistances with job classes that granted resistances, it is impossible to resist all elemental attacks even with enough preparations in doing so. According to the author Maruyama, if any more racial classes over 45 levels are taken, one of the classes in possession by the character will disappear. This only applies to the Web Novel, however.
On the other hand, they are inflicted by racial penalties and weaknesses based on the kind of races the characters are playing.[5] For starters, beings like Zern could be negatively affected by race-specific spells when used against them.[6] Aside from that, there are some magic items with racial restrictions over who can use them. They can also be penalized or restricted from entering certain areas such as cities where it contains other races like humanoids.
Despite the setbacks of having levels in said races, they were still highly regarded as popular among players. Their source of popularity stems from how they are able to endow in different forms and stages of evolution like final bosses in a game. In addition to that, people were fond of how these heteromorphic beings were weaker in their human and demihuman forms, but more powerful in their fully monstrous forms.
Overall, regardless of their differences, what heteromorphic and demihuman monsters have in common is that they possessed superior physical abilities than regular humanoids. As a matter of fact, they are able to acquire strong racial skills at higher levels. Still, heteromorphs are unique entities who get to acquire monster-type special skills that demi-humans couldn't obtain.[9] Demi-humans, on the other hand, possessed a racial skill related to things such as damage resistance.
Just like their job class counterpart, every racial class had a maximum of 15 levels to invest in. They're commonly ranked between either base, high and rare. Base job classes can only be leveled up to 15, high classes meanwhile can be leveled up to 10, and finally rare classes like Overlord, a high-tier race can be leveled up to 5 at max. Naturally, as the class level grows over time, the stronger the class ability that is obtained.

A human nation of the New World and one of the three nations that neighbors Nazarick. One of the strongest countries in the region; it is a highly religious state, promoting human supremacy. Being one of the oldest established human nations, the Slane Theocracy has a history of six hundred years based on fierce adherence to their country's religion. The doctrine of the Slane Theocracy revolves around the Six Great Gods, who appeared six hundred years ago. As a result, the country is divided into six different religious sects, each with its own specialized intelligence agency focusing on one expertise they're skillfully good at. Each sect is devoted to one of the Six Great Gods by the Scripture group's color.
Despite being split into different factions, the groups will still cooperate when necessary during times of crisis. They all acknowledge the threat of demons and other races in the world. Additionally, the Slane Theocracy's civilization is said to be more advanced in technology than any of the neighboring countries that surround it. The Slane Theocracy also has an institutionalized divine magic training system that is comparable with the Baharuth Empire in terms of arcane magic, one in which they possess a magic school that focuses on training faith-based magic casters. The overall literacy rate for citizens living in the Theocracy is fairly high.
Although the Theocracy promotes the discrimination of non-humans and the supremacy of humanity, it only serves to be a tactic from the higher-ups in order to unify all humans with a common goal and increase their national power. Unlike the common folk, the high officials aren't blinded by xenophobic beliefs and prioritize the survival of humanity. In order to protect humans from the threat of other races, they have decided to bind people together with faith in the Six Great Gods. It is to this point where they have tried to keep all God-Kin within their country's borders, even going as far as to detain their wives/potential mothers.
At the same time, the Cardinals recognize the fact that their nation's philosophy has a flaw to it. They fear that their nation's ideology might lead them in a dangerous direction if the Theocracy ever ends up being bordered next to a powerful non-human nation like the Argland Council State. The Cardinals believe that it can play a major factor in radicalizing the citizens to come together and form a militant movement against that nation. Since this event is the worst-case scenario, the common folk will possibly shout for war with the Council State in order to destroy the enemies of mankind.
The citizens of the Slane Theocracy often view people with nonhuman ancestry living in their country as second-class citizens.
Despite the Theocracy's prejudice towards non-humans, the nation once had a friendly relationship with the neighboring Elf Country. However, this relationship came to an end over a century ago when the Elf King abducted and impregnated the ace of the Theocracy's Black Scripture. Fortunately, the Theocracy rescued her and the child that was forced upon her grew up to become the Theocracy's strongest God-kin.
Afterwards, at the urging of the child, a war of retribution was waged against the Elves. However, despite their superior military strength, the Theocracy's progress is slow since the Elf Country is mostly hard-to-traverse woodland and they do not want to waste their full forces on the war effort, resulting in the war still going on by the time the Re-Estize Kingdom fell. Elves have also become favored products in the Theocracy's slave trade.
In order to achieve their goal of allowing humanity to survive in the face of demi-human threats, the Theocracy has been secretly manipulating the affairs of other human nations for what they believe is the greater good.
One of their actions was to shepherd the Re-Estize Kingdom, a human nation completely protected from demi-human nations by its neighbors and natural barriers. They believed this would allow the Kingdom to safely raise powerful individuals who could save mankind. However, its life of peace instead caused many nobles to become arrogant and delusional, resulting in the Kingdom becoming nothing but a cesspool of corruption.
Deeming the Kingdom to be a failure, the Theocracy shifted its focus to the Baharuth Empire. Since the Theocracy couldn't directly take control of the Kingdom lest they share a border with the Argland Council State, which would inevitably lead to a war, they instead planned on letting the Empire conquer the Kingdom.

A human nation in the New World, neighboring the Re-Estize Kingdom, that used to periodically face invasion from the neighboring Abelion Hills. Following the most recent invasion, the country's governmental and religious institutions were secretly taken over by the Sorcerer Kingdom. The Roble Holy Kingdom, usually simply referred to as "The Holy Kingdom," was founded about 200 years ago, not long after the Evil Deities' reign of terror had ended. It is marked haphazardly on maps of the New World. Its land is divided into north and south halves by the sea, but the halves are not completely separate; rather, a gigantic bay, 40 kilometers long and 200 kilometers wide, made its geography look like a U turned on its side. For this reason, some refer to them as different nations; the "Northern Holy Kingdom" and "Southern Holy Kingdom." The Holy Kingdom's national hero is said to be a Valkyrie Knight, wielding a sacred blade.
The Holy Kingdom is neighbored by the Abelion Hills, which are inhabited by all kinds of demi-human tribes who are constantly warring with one another. To prevent themselves from being invaded and getting caught up in their wars, the Holy Kingdom invested a great amount of time and resources into building the greatest fortification in the New World along their border: the 100,000-kilometer-long Great Wall.
However, despite all of these defensive measures, the Holy Kingdom still faces invasions from time to time. The greatest of these attacks came during the period known as the Long Rain when a race known as the Srasch managed to climb over the wall and infiltrate the Holy Kingdom. While they were eventually driven out, this came at the cost of several losses of the Holy Kingdom's villages.
The constant demi-human attacks caused many nobles to grow paranoid, leading to the passing of a law to conscript all of the Holy Kingdom's citizens.
After Calca Bessarez became the Holy Kingdom's first female monarch, southern nobles protested against her being chosen over her elder brother, Prince Caspond, even though he had willingly given up his claim to the throne. They accused her of being in a secret relationship with High Priestess Kelart and Paladin Grandmaster Remedios, which she denied. In the end, the South did not escalate matters further and a full-scale confrontation was averted.

One of the Six Scriptures of the Slane Theocracy. They were said to be the strongest scripture among the Six Scriptures. Black Scripture is the Slane Theocracy's final trump card, a special forces unit comprising of individuals with heroic-level abilities. One could even think of them as a group supposedly made up of adamantite-ranked adventurers. However, there was actually a critical difference that sets the Black Scripture apart from most adamantite adventurer groups, that of their equipment used by each of its respective members. In other words, they're utilizing the equipment that originated from the arsenal of items belonging to the Six Great Gods. While so, the Black Scripture are commonly assigned to very dangerous tasks, and so they had a very high attrition rate.
Their title as the mightiest unit within the Slane Theocracy and their black motif directly correlate with them following the teachings of the God of Death of the Six Great Gods, Surshana. Not only is their Death God the most powerful of all the Six Great Gods, but their group as a whole also holds the greatest fighting power than all the other Five Scriptures too.

The Re-Estize Kingdom, usually simply referred to as "The Kingdom," was located west of the Azerlisia Mountains, north-west of Nazarick, with an estimated population of nine million. It was one of the many nations founded following the defeat of the Evil Deities over two hundred years ago. Though one of three major human nations neighboring Nazarick, the Kingdom suffered from the constant political disorder due to a confrontation between the Royalty and Nobility factions. The situation was quite severe, virtually dividing the country in two.
According to Gazef Stronoff, the Kingdom had been plagued by inept nobles who had viewed commoners as mere pawns in their power plays ever since its founding. Protected from hostile demi-human nations by natural barriers and neighboring countries, the Kingdom was relatively peaceful. However, this peace left the nation weak to corruption from within.
By the time its last king, Ramposa III, came to power, the Kingdom was already suffering from extreme political corruption due to the mistakes of previous kings. Throughout his reign, he tried to reform the Kingdom, but to no avail. As the king aged, his ability to exercise his authority deteriorated and thus nobles got more say in matters. This eventually resulted in the government splitting between a Royalty Faction and a Nobility Faction. The only reason the situation didn't escalate into civil war was due to the efforts of Marquis Raeven, a patriot with connections to both sides.
There was also a conflict of succession. Though it was long since time for the King to abdicate, he refused to do so out of fear of either of his sons, Crown Prince Barbro or Second Prince Zanac, becoming a nobility puppet. Each brother also desired the throne for himself, sparking a bitter rivalry.
The Kingdom's peaceful period came to an end when the neighboring Baharuth Empire declared war on the nation. Fortunately, the situation did not escalate into an all-out war and instead, the two countries merely engaged in small territorial skirmishes at the Katze Plains every year. However, these annual wars took place during the harvest season, slowing food production due to peasants being drafted. The Kingdom eventually realized that the Empire aimed to dwindle its strength in preparation for a full-scale invasion. However, by this time, the nation had already started to decline.
Despite the desperate situation, however, many nobles failed to grasp the true severity of it and thus refused to take it seriously. Some even betrayed the Kingdom by leaking information to the Empire.
In addition to the political problems, a large criminal group named Eight Fingers was undermining the Kingdom from within. Thanks to the enormous amount of money they had acquired, the organization was able to bribe several nobles and even members of the royal family into aiding their illegal activities. Communities throughout the nation also worked for them, letting their fields be used to plant illegal drugs in exchange for money. The Eight Fingers' influence was so great that they virtually controlled the entire nation from the shadows.
Third Princess Renner attempted a structural reform of the Kingdom, an endeavor that earned her the epithet "Golden Princess." However, most of her suggestions, such as crop rotation, were shot down by the nobles, who feared any changes she made could threaten their power. She was at least able to abolish slavery, though there were still a lot of unofficial slaves in the criminal underground.

A nation of dwarves residing in earthen halls within the Azerlisia Mountains. The history of the Dwarf Kingdom starts more than two hundred years ago. The country remains almost completely isolated from the world for a long time until the era of the Thirteen Heroes emerges. At that time, the dwarves cities prospered and that was deemed to be the golden era of the Runecraft.
However, those years ended when the nation was attacked by one of the Demon Gods, who destroyed their ancient capital and forced its citizens to flee to survive. During the attack, most of the royal family members were killed, and those who remained decided left the Kingdom to join the fight against them. Its last king was known as the Magic Craftsman and the Runesmith King, a hero immortalized in the legends.
Two hundred years ago, their nation consisted of four underground cities for which they had built and were spread all around the underground caverns of the mountains, each connected by a series of cave networks. However, prior to the current events, those cities have dwindled down to two.
The inhabitants of the Dwarf Kingdom are always in conflict with the Azerlisia Mountains' other inhabitants, particularly the mole-like demi-humans known as Quagoa.

The Baharuth Empire, colloquially referred to as "The Empire," is located east of the Azerlisia Mountains, northeast of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. It was one of the nations founded after the defeat of the Evil Deities over 200 years ago. Three generations ago, the Empire was a feudal state, like the Re-Estize Kingdom, until the current Emperor established an absolute monarchy by purging much of the nobility. Each Emperor was also noted to be a talented ruler, with each new emperor building upon the last.
In the Web Novel, the Empire boasted a population of over eight million people. The overall literacy rate for citizens living in the Empire is fairly high. Following the death of the previous Emperor, a violent power struggle took place for the Empire's throne. In the end, it landed in the hands of Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix, the son of the late Emperor and one of the Empire's Great Nobles. It is also believed that the noblewoman poisoned the late Emperor so her son could take the throne. However, in an ironic twist of fate, the teenage Emperor ordered the deaths of his entire family, including his mother, alongside any noble he saw as a threat in order to secure his rule. The purge was executed so skillfully that the Empire's national power was barely affected, though the excessive violence earned the new ruler the epithet of "Bloody Emperor."
Following the initial purge, the Emperor went on to revoke the status of any nobles he saw as incompetent and replaced them with whomever he deemed more capable, effectively giving commoners a chance to rise in status. On the other hand, those who proved themselves loyal were spared, though they were kept on a short leash. Ultimately, despite the violent first few years of his reign, the young Emperor would prove himself to be a very skilled ruler and the Empire grew prosperous.
In order to create a great Empire that could survive the test of time, Emperor Jircniv set out to conquer the neighboring Re-Estize Kingdom. To do so, he reformed the Empire's military, adopting a career soldier system that, while smaller than the Kingdom's army of drafties, is better trained and equipped as well as more cost-effective and easier to mobilize.
The Empire did not declare all-out war on the Kingdom, though, and instead, the two nations merely engaged in small skirmishes at the Katze Plains every year. However, the Empire never fully committed its full military might to the endeavor. This is so that they could slowly dwindle the Kingdom of its national strength as time went on while waiting for an opportunity to launch a full-scale invasion and conquer the Kingdom with minimal losses. Some Kingdom nobles were even secretly in league with the Empire by leaking information.
