Outis's Backstory: As a child, Outis sought a toy of high acclaim, though was unable to purchase this item. Because of this failure, and the company's subsequent shutting-down, She experienced a deep feeling of despair being implanted to her being. At some point, Outis became a member of the Middle. Through years of hard work and training She was promoted to the rank of Great Sister.

Rodion's Backstory: Coming from District 25, Rodion had witnessed a devastating level of poverty and inequality in her life time. With all the district inhabitants growing poorer the harder they worked, while Pawnbrokers hogged all of their money. The neighborhood she had come from had been wrung dry, with heirlooms weighed with whatever monetary value they had. Having seen this injustice, an individual named Sonya would begin to organize the group under the name of "Yurodiviye", beginning to deliver speeches and rallying people. Even the thickest of people were moved by Sonya's words to begin helping the impoverished, but Rodion could see the goal of the organization shift subtly over time, having now become a group that cared more about debating how to best change the streets and the Nest rather than actually helping those in need. This served as the reason for Rodion leaving.

Sonya would justify his inactions by saying that they needed to wait for the perfect moment, a statement that Rodion could not agree with. Bringing up a case of the Yurodiviye's youngest member, Ivan, being forced to eat food from the garbage to sate his hunger, resulting in him suffocating to death. To Sonya this death seemed inconsequential, stating that such minor troubles were inevitable, but to Rodion this further proved the fact that the Yurodiviye had strived too far from their initial goal of helping those in need. It was exactly this interaction that finally prompted Rodion to take matters into her own hands. Fed up with seeing her people suffer in the harsh conditions of the village, Rodion would knock on the door of one of the tax collectors with an axe in hand. Deep down Rodion hoped for the tax collector to change her mind and offer any kind of aid to those who were suffering outside in harsh living conditions while her safe was full of cash, yet Rodion was only met with mockery that caused her to strike the tax collector down with her axe, splitting her skull in half and killing her immediately.

Feeling like she had done the right thing in the moment and that she managed to finally bring positive change to her neighborhood who had tasted quality meat for the first time in their lives, Rodion didn't know that the tax collector was a sibling of the members of the Middle, and that their status was the one thing that was giving her power. Since Rodion had killed one of their family members, the organization then demonstrated what happened to those that dared to disturb them, by murdering all of the residents of the village and turning their bodies into towering cadaverous pillars out on the roads.

Following the events of that day, being burdened by guilt and the realization that rodion joined a syndicate, the middle after clearing her name and becoming a trusting member of the middle and now a great sister along the middle. She is considered to be a very strong member of the middle as she can use her enhancement tattoo to fight people and carries her large book of vengeance behind her coat.

Syndicate lore: The middle is a Syndicate that composes one of the Five Fingers of the City. They have a strong focus on familial bonds and carrying out "vengeance" against those who have wronged them. The Middle refers to people within the organization as "brother" and "sister", and act as a family. Big Siblings tend to care for their Little Siblings, while Little Siblings try to make their Big Sibling happy. the Middle primarily wears purple and white. Little Siblings appear to primarily have one to two limbs wrapped at most, while Big siblings have them around every limb. The chains themselves are representative of the connection between each member of the Middle. They are gained when joining the Middle. The Middle also uses enhancement tattoos to increase their physical strength and durability. A member can receive one tattoo after every successful vengeance completed. When in battle, the tattoos light up purple. It is possible to "pull on" the tattoos to extremely reduce incoming damage. Layering tattoos appears to enhance the limb to the point of warping The Southern Branch of the Middle fights primarily by punching and kicking. The Eastern Branch appears to use weapons. Deserters or those who go against the Middle will have Vengeance brought down upon them at a much larger scale than an initial offense would. Each district is broken up into two parts, the Nest and the Backstreets. Each District of the Backstreets surrounds a Nest at the center. The Nests are gated communities, only populated by those in direct service of the ruling Corp, referred to as Feathers. Nests are usually much safer to live in, as public safety is usually guaranteed by the ruling Wing. People are still subjected to the harsh competitive conditions placed on them by the job market. The Backstreets on the other hand house the rest of the District's population who are otherwise unaffiliated with the Wings. Often lawless places, the Backstreets are subject to the whims of those in power. Wings rarely put as much effort into maintaining the Backstreets as they do with Nests, making way for criminal organizations, Syndicates, to rule in their stead.

Fixer-run Offices alleviate that power imbalance by offering their services to anyone who can pay. Fixer Offices are not bound to any type of work and as such can focus on a wide variety or very specialized type of work.
