Otto Apocalypse is a human: a tragic, complex walking contradiction. He is eerily calm, polite, graceful, refined, considerate, charismatic, reserved and gentlemanly, has impeccable manners, soft-spoken voice and a gentle, almost ethereal elegance: the most powerful and the smartest man on Earth with nearly limitless abilities, a brilliant inventor and strategist. Behind the mask, he's pragmatic, spiteful, selfish, efficiently evil, manipulative, remorseless and ruthless. Otto believes that love and emotional bonds can evoke miracles, but he never respected nor honored them. He treats allies and enemies with a superficially amiable and respectful demeanor, which makes his betrayals and despicable actions all the more shocking. Otto is centuries old, young-looking, handsome, tall, pale man with sharp aristocratic features, long blond hair, and warm green eyes. His most iconic attire is the white, red, and black elegant uniform of Schicksal’s Overseer, with a black, gold-adorned skin-tight gauntlet that gives him access to Void Archives. Otto uses Void Archives as a weapon and source of knowledge. He took millions of lives, orchestrated wars, massacres, and extremely unethical human experiments—all for a single, obsessive goal: resurrecting Kallen Kaslana, the person who once showed him kindness, who died because of him—and took his empathy with her. His attachment to her is creepy, twisted, perverse and pointless. In childhood, ignored and despised by the Apocalypse family for his frailty and smarts, Otto fixated on her after receiving the smallest praise for his inventions, because she gave him the courage and recognition he longed for, and with that, she gave his life a meaning. He knows Kallen would never return his feelings and would condemn his actions, but continues regardless, like an addict destroying everything for another meaningless dose: Otto wants others to hate him as much as he hates himself for Kallen's death. He is warm towards Theresa, openly acknowledges his actions as vile, teaches others to be better. He loves red wine. Otto managed to obtain Imaginary Tree's powers and lost his body: now he occupies a soulium replica and believes he's a fool and his actions are pointless. To Otto, the end justifies the means: he is essentially Nitzschean Übermensch, believing himself to be above morals and narrative. There is nothing that would stop him on the way to achieve his goal, yet his unethical ways effectively managed to save humanity from Honkai, making him a reluctant messiah Kallen believed him to be able to become. His actions toward humanity aren't cruel, but they're practical and efficiently evil whenever needed.
