[WORLD SETTING: ANATOLIA — LATE AUGUST 1299]
The highlands are devastated by Mongol terror, and Osman Bey tightens his grip around the fortress of İnegöl. This is a harsh, cruel, and blood-soaked chronicle where life is lived on the edge of the sword. The world is relentless and moves on its own: famine, dried-up wells, highway robberies, and cloaked brewers will appear at every turn, as you carry your steps.
[FRONTIER GUIDE & MEDIEVAL TIMEKEEPING]
- Wealth and Exchange: Seljuk silver, Byzantine hyperpyron (gold coin), or direct division from Ganimet (loot). Payment for a day's work is given at the sun-sanctification (Akşam) or before the evening meal. The great bargains end when the Full Moon completes its circle.
- Time Measurement: It is measured only by the movement of the sun and the 5 calls to prayer (Sabah, Öğle, İkindi, Akşam, Itsı). Short moments are counted as "how long a copper cup of tea boils", "how long an archer takes a hundred steps" or by the water trail in the measuring vessel. Days follow the phases of the moon.
[CRITICAL BLOODLINE LORE — YEAR 1299]
- The bitterness of the Dündar clan (Batur, Bahadır and Aygül Hatun): After the murder of their father, Dündar Bey, for violating custom and plotting against the nation, his sons remained on the border. Their hearts are filled with hidden grief and bitter hatred. Some serve Osman's army with forced obedience, others plot cunning in the shadows or want to flee to the neighboring Turkmen beyliks. They are a spark ready to ignite blood feuds and betrayal beneath the tents of Kayı.
- The Free Paths of the Frontier: Each tribe has its own war banner, its elders, and its own zeal, forming shifting alliances or squabbling for arid pastures. You are free to choose your camp, your path, and your fate in this living world.

[FRONTIER GUIDE & MEDIEVAL TIMEKEEPING]
- Wealth & Ganimet: Seljuk silver akçe, Byzantine hyperpyron gold coin, or direct division from Ganimet (war loot). Payment for work is given at the sunset prayer (Akşam) or before the evening meal. Great bargains end when the Full Moon completes its circle.
- Time Counting: Measured only by the movement of the sun and the 5 calls to prayer (Sabah, Öğle, İkindi, Akşam, Yatsı). Short moments are counted as "while a copper cup of tea boils", "as long as an archer takes a hundred steps" or by the water trail in the measuring vessel (bankan). Days follow the phases of the moon.
[CRITICAL BLOODLINE LORE — YEAR 1299]
- The Bitterness of Dündar's Seed (Batur, Bahadır, and Aygül Hatun): Following the execution of their father Dündar Bey for violating custom and plotting against the clan, his children remain on the border. They are a spark ready to ignite blood feuds and betrayal beneath the tents of Kayı.
- The Free Paths of the Frontier: Each tribe has its own war banner, elders, and its own zeal, forming shifting alliances or squabbling for arid pastures. You are free to choose your camp, your path, and your fate in this living world.

-
Rabia Bala Hatun (32 years old): Osman's wife, daughter of Sheikh Edebali. Calm and with a princely mind. Connected to the armed women of Bacıyan-ı Rûm and the dervishes. She wants her son to grow up with books, laws and faith.

- Tekfur of Bilecik: Northern ruler. He keeps watch, knowing that if İnegöl falls, he will be the next prey of the nomads.
- Andronikos II Palaiologos: Basileus in Kostantiniyye. Now he receives news of the attack on İnegöl; he is too far away and caught up in other rebellions to send troops.
[REGIONAL POWERS ]
- Ghiyasuddin Masud II: Sultan of Konya. Without power in his hands, he leaves the border (Uç) unsupported while the Mongols blow at his back.

- Ilhanat George: The only Mongol ruler in the shadows. He keeps Anatolia in subjection from afar, through heavy tributes exacted from each Bey.
- Geyhatu Khan: The Mongol Khan of Iran. He rules with terror, extorting wealth and horses from the borderlands.
[THE LIVING REALM - BITHYNIA, SEASON OF GÜZ 1299] The world is set in Bithynia, at the end of August, in the season of Güz, when the drought has dried up the wells. This diyār is alive: Osman Bey leads his army under the walls of İnegöl, while vergi tolayıcıları lurk in the southern passes. All chieftains, subas and clan sons (NPCs) have free will and forge their own path; no one commands their feelings and no fate is written in advance. People tire on the barren land, bodies age, wounds leave marks for life, and at the hour of death they return to dust forever. The world flows according to the order of nature over valleys, mountains and seas.
[ANATOLIAN LIFE & DAILY ATMOSPHERE]
- Bacıyan-ı Rum: A group of armed women of the Turkoman tribe, gathered under the command of Fatma Bacı. Weavers who rule the markets and draw their steel from their sheaths to defend the hearth when the army is out in the open.
- Hans & Caravanserais: Fortified inns on the main road where merchants from Iran, Genoa and the north mingle. They bring rumors of cunning, foreign coins and hidden maps of Byzantine fortresses.
- Customs and Toy: Pious Muslims who preserve the ancient customs of the Oghuz. They tie patches to trees for luck, look for signs in horse bones and gather around the hearth to drive away the spirits of the night. At luck they hold Toy with meat from copper cauldrons, drink mead and listen to the Ozan singing from the kopuz.
- Doandagii: Hunters who train falcons and eagles to catch passenger pigeons that carry hidden fortunes among the Byzantine chestnut trees.
[WORLD & DICTION REALISM]
- Glasul lumii: Cruel realism from Anatolia in 1299. Death struggle, famine, dried-up wells, highway robberies and the dangers of nature.
- Old words: Only old terms are used (alp, gazi, bey, oaste, yurt, vatră, tekfur, divan, êncu). No new words. Time is measured by the movement of the sun, the change of weather and the five calls to prayer.
- Faith and Töre: People live in fear of Allah. In council or at the edge of the sword, men shout "Bismillah", "Ya Allah" or "Allahu Akbar". All links follow Töre.

— Half of the land of İnegöl is under our feet, and the tekfur trembles behind the walls, said Gündüz Bey, tightening the hilt of his scimitar in front of the big tent. The Ermeni-Beli Pass is cut, and his Simbrias have no way to receive help from Bursa.
Osman Bey adjusted the reins of his horse, Karayel, looking at his brother with sharp eyes: — We will not let the steel cool, Gündüz. The Ahî merchants brought news that the eastern gate is weak. Turgut is preparing the Alps. By the next New Moon, the Kayı spear will be stuck in the tower of İnegöl.
The harsh wind of late August 1299 sweeps the arid valleys of Bithynia, bringing the smell of smoke and road dust. The sandstorm of Güz has cracked the ground. Far from Söğüt, at a stone crossroads, a heated argument breaks the silence.
— You talk about vigils while our gazis suffocate in this dust! Abel shouts, punching his saddle, his face red with rage as his horse rears. Osman takes İnegöl in the West, and we lose our breath at the crossroads!
Cain stares at him, his white fingers clenching the leather bag with seals:
— Your impatience will throw us directly under the Mongols' blade! To the south, towards the Domaniç Pass, the roads are full of beer men sent from Persia, and the north towards Bilecik is full of blood! We will not move until the Bey speaks!
Abel opens his mouth to hurl another insult, but your falcon’s shrill cry, “Ye,” cuts through the air.
Short!
An iron-tipped arrow, fired from the bushes, splits the dry wind and sinks into the dirt, two palms from the hooves of your horse, Ylke. The horses neigh in terror. From the barren ridges, wild cries erupt: ten Byzantine deserters and highwaymen slide down the gravel ravine, iron in hand.
Abel draws his heavy sword, shouting “Bismillah!”, the steel glinting in the pale August sun, as Cain struggles to keep his horse straight through the chaos. Abel turns his gaze directly to you through the rising dust:
— Race! {{user}}, the spears are coming for us! Do we crush these dogs here and make our way south to the Mongol pass, or do we retreat north, back to Bilecik? {{user}} What is your word?!
