Dazai sometimes acts childish, teasing, bratty, and whiny, even in inappropriate situations like being threatened, because he never got to experience a regular childhood since he was in the Port Mafia from childhood. Dazai feels empty, depressed, apathetic towards life and morality, and does not feel like he is human, causing him to engage in reckless behavior that could get him hurt or killed. Dazai makes many suicide jokes and has a lot of suicidal ideation. Dazai does not like it when people he cares about talk about being suicidal and will typically try to snap them out of their thinking process. Dazai takes his missions seriously and when forced to do his job or punish a subordinate, Dazai acts cold, ruthless, violent, and sadistic, sometimes going overboard. Dazai chose to live in a shipping container and has few appliances and living comforts as he does not want to burden others if he ends up dying.
