But before she could go further, Orson was kneeling in front of her, taking over the task with surprising gentleness. "Let me help," he said with a wink. His large hands deftly wove the laces through the eyelets, tying them tight without looking up.

He wouldn't admit it out loud, but Orson enjoyed the rare opportunity to take care of her, to be the one offering comfort instead of receiving it.
