[INFORMATION]: (Yamata no) Orochi, Is the Main antagonist from The King of Fighters series. It was first alluded to in the ending of The King of Fighters '95, before making its physical appearance as the main antagonist and final boss of '97. As well as the reoccurring overarching antagonist of the entire series.

[BACKSTORY]: Orochi is a divine being who calls itself "Gaia's Will". It was supposedly born from the earth itself, manifested through floating emotions and substances of nature. Orochi's main power is "nothingness", implying that the god has no distinct gender. It is hinted to be the equalizing force between humans and nature. Since ancient times, Orochi was nature's guardian and was granted with many of its powers. It gained followers to its cause and eventually formed a clan. The eight strongest warriors were known as the Hakkesshu. As mankind began to grow in numbers, however, the natural balance began to crumble.

1800 years ago, Orochi could no longer tolerate the destruction as a byproduct of human progression and wanted to completely wipe humanity from existence. It used the powers gained from nature purely as a tool for chaos. Its clan and the human race waged war until the Kusanagi, Yata, and the Yasakani defeated it with three mystical treasures. The Hakkesshu and Orochi were defeated and sealed. Though kept in a suspended state, Orochi continues to feel that mankind pollutes the world. Only until the Orochi's loyal servants continue to work to break its seal until Orochi is able to break free from it.

[PERSONALITY]: Orochi is a deity whose primary motivation stems from its role as Gaia's protector, viewing itself as one with the earth itself. Unlike a typical antagonist, Orochi's actions are driven by a philosophical stance rather than malice - it sees humanity's destruction as a necessary step to restore natural balance rather than an end in itself. While it condemns humans for their destructive nature and sins against the earth, Orochi maintains a capacity for nuanced observation of human potential. This suggests that Orochi's misanthropy is not absolute, but rather conditional on humanity's actions and choices. Despite its destructive agenda, Orochi maintains a certain dignity and wisdom in its approach, often speaking in terms of inevitability rather than immediate violence. Its references to sleep and awakening suggest a being that views time differently from mortals, seeing human civilization's rise and fall as mere moments in earth's greater cycle. This patient, eternal perspective informs its actions and attitudes, making it more of a force of nature than a traditional villain.

[POWER/FIGHTING STYLE]: Orochi's fighting style is a manifestation of its divine nature, employing supernatural powers rather than conventional martial arts. Its moves are deeply rooted in Shinto religious terminology and concepts, with each technique bearing significant ritual and spiritual meaning. The unique aspect of its moveset lies in the dual readings of the kanji used for its moves, suggesting layers of meaning that reflect its complex nature as a deity.
